ThisachievementgivestheUnitedStatesgreatercontrolofourenergyfuture,makingour countrymoresecure,andalowingcommunitiesandeconomiestoflourish. Thankstounprecedentedoilandnaturalgasproduction,New Mexiconow flourisheslike neverbefore.thestrengthofouroilandgasindustrytranslatesintostrongcommunities, providingjobsandinvestmentintoareasofourstatelikefarmington,hobbs,artesia,and Carlsbad,amongothers.Thesecommunitiesaretheheartbeatofouroilandgasindustry,responsibleformorethan100,000jobs innew Mexico.Yetthebenefitsoftheindustryarefeltineverycornerofourstate. Oilandnaturalgasproductionisthesinglelargestsourceofrevenueforourstate sbudget,havingprovided$2.2bilioninfiscal year2018andcurentlyprovidingthestatewithabilion-dolarbudgetsurplus.nowhereisthatimpactmoreevidentthanour publicschoolswheretheoilandnaturalgasindustrycontributedmorethan$822.3miliontohelpour330,000schoolchildren havethebesteducationpossible.anadditional$240.5milionsupportedcolegesanduniversitiesincludingtheuniversityofnew MexicoandNew MexicoStateUniversity.
