The potluck, Friday night, alone with the Best Dress boat competition, gave members a chance to socialize and tour the amazingly decorated boats. The judges had a challenging time choosing the winner, but Maila and Jim Cadd took home top honors, for Rinta. Lori and Robert Grimes came in close with hand-made flag banners and LYC napkins at place settings! Thanks to George Dennis for planning this first and hopefully annual event. Thanks so much to Jammie Scott and Donna Williams for the beautiful and scrumptious breakfast on Saturday. A big THANK YOU to Dick Stump and Ray Prynne for heading up the club house painting project. The June 14th work party at LYC will be the painting of the clubhouse. It will be a showcase when finished. Thanks to all of you that have spent time prepping the clubhouse for paint. The space will be awarded with the publication of the July newsletter. Please notify me when / if you have any plans of vacating or selling your assigned space. Notify me via (crprynne@comcast.net) or USPS ( th AVE. Longview) Work is progressing on the clubhouse, but we still need members to help with getting everything prepared and ready for painting. We need members willing to scrape, sand, caulk and prime. There has been a good group of members that have done an amazing amount of work so far, but we are not done yet. 5 J u n e The once in a generation clubhouse facelift is currently underway. As you have noticed, the preparation necessary for painting makes the building look pretty bad; here is what s underway: the hard work of pressure-washing, scraping, sanding and cleanup is nearly complete (George Dennis, Ken McCallister, Chuck Davison, Marty Crichlow, Walt Crichlow and Charley Jensen ) the northeast corner has had the rotten boards replaced with new ones (Don Sims and John Shepherd) the Longview Yacht Club signs above the north and south entrances have been removed to be cleaned and painted (Larry Ashland) all of the eaves will be enclosed for ease of painting and to prevent birds from nesting (Steve Long and Ray Prynn) the sliding-glass door was removed so the rotten framework could be replaced (John Willems and Jim Stanaway) painting the window trim ( Jan Stumph, Liz McCallister and Quita Perry) Now that we are nearly finished with the preparation, the June 14 th work party seems a good date for application of the primer (weather permitting), if you are interested, please dress appropriately. I also need two or three volunteers to cut, caulk and then attach the outside window trim (call me at ). As all of you know, we have a great group of hard working, very talented members who step it up to accomplish necessary tasks, please give each one of them a big THANK YOU! First Lady s Corner The next Ladies Night Out is Thursday June 19th 2014 at Dolphin Yacht Club. The theme is A BIG NIGHT WITH A LIT- TLE ELVIS PRESLEY.
