2 From our President~~~~~~~~ We ve had 2 great events in the last 2 months. First up was our annual picnic at Allenberry. We enjoyed our longest running event in the meadow on a nice cool day. Our most recent event was a well-attended fall rally from Lancaster to Manchester. Thanks to Marty and Jan Rexroth, along with their kids, for all of the work that went into this successful event. If you have any ideas for next year s events, please come to the planning meeting on Nov. 11 th or contact me. We are always looking for our members input. I look forward to seeing you at our holiday party at the Eden Resort in Lancaster on Dec. 7 th. Please come out and celebrate with your fellow MB enthusiasts. Jan and John Kitner do a wonderful job of planning this event each year. I took my 2006 C55 AMG to the Jefferson Circuit at Summit Point Motorsports Park in West Virginia in mid September. It s a 7 turn 1.12 mile track that I hadn t driven before. My friends in the Greater Washington Section (GWS) ran a great event. We had over 50 drivers. My car performed great but proved a bit more difficult to drive because of the increased power. I had to really focus because everything just happened quicker than my old 300E and 400E. The brakes did start to fade toward the end of the 20 minute sessions. Perhaps the 3 short straight-aways didn t provide enough time to adequately cool the brakes. The 5.5 liter, 362 horsepower engine was much thirstier than normal, gobbling up a ¼ tank of fuel in every session. If you want to experience a higher speed event than an autocross, you should really participate in a track event. This is a great way to learn more about your vehicle and improve your driving skills in the process. Larry Taylor

6 October Fall Foliage Rally Our 2013 Fall Foliage Rally was held on Sunday October 27 with 10 cars participating. The rally was created this year by Rally Masters Marty and Jan Rexroth, along with their children Marty II and Marlyse. We started off in Lancaster County and continued into Eastern York County. There was plenty of late October foliage to enjoy, plus a stunning view from the Highpoint Scenic Vista overlooking the Susquehanna. We also visited Sam Lewis State Park for some more views, and historic Codorus Furnace to take in some local history. The rally ended at the Conewago Inn in Manchester, PA where we enjoyed dinner together. Plenty of discussion and laughter about the rally clues could be overheard at dinner. Awards were presented at dinner for the top 3 cars with their mileage closest to the official route mileage, and rally questions accurately answered. First place was awarded to Carol and Kara Oldenburg along with Kara's boyfriend Conner. Second place was awarded to new member Tony Patterson and his brother Chris. Third place went to Bob and Mary Kissinger. As winners of the 2013 Rally, Carol and Kara have accepted the challenge of creating next year's rally in In May of this year, our section mourned the passing of one of our longest active members, Max Copenheaver. For several years he created trophies for our fall rallies. At our section picnic in September, we asked our members to bring any of these trophies that they had to display in memory of Max. Below is a picture of just a few of the past trophies created by this talented man. ******EDITOR S NOTE****** Do we have your Address?
