Refreshments were served, pictures were taken and door prizes were awarded. Hoping everyone had as much fun as we did. And, last, but not least, I would like to thank my wonderful friends: Aggie, Diane, Donna, Kate, Priscilla, and Shirley who helped welcome and entertain our guests. Mary Leh LEBANON VA CHRISTMAS DONATIONS Arbor Gate VA Angels wish to thank all the Arbor Gate residents, Thrivent Financial and other friends who contributed over $1,000 towards the Lebanon VA Medical Center, Building 1, 5th Floor, Christmas Wish List this year. Because of your generosity we were able to provide 30 sweat suits, $500 in Canteen Books, and a Beau ful Christmas Party on Friday, December 15. Thanks to all those who volunteered in any way to bring added cheer to our veterans during this holiday season, i.e., shopping, wrapping, food dona ons, cards, paper goods, etc. If you wish to help with our monthly socials next year, feel free to come along. I think it is now time to get someone to help me or take over when I am not available. The work is not difficult, but it takes some strength to lift full trays of cups or glasses. It also means working through the whole time of the meal and afterward for a while. If you are willing to learn the job and do the work from time to time, please contact me, Judy or Joan Thank you. We will follow the concert with cookies and other delights in the café. 4 Page 4 Lakeview Center Newsletter MEN'S SINGLES POOL TOURNAMENT JANUARY 17, 2018 STARTING AT 5:30 PM We are having an 8 Ball Men s Double Elimination Tournament. Every player will play at least two games in this tournament. Sign up sheet is located on the board in the Pool Room. Sign up by January 10th. Any questions please contact Ed Consalo at DON T FORGET YOUR TAX APPOINTMENT For anyone new to Arbor Gate, volunteers offer free income tax preparation and filing service through the AARP Taxaide program. All volunteers are IRS trained and certified to do individual income taxes. On Monday, February 5th, Denise will start taking appointments for this free Income Tax Preparation here at Arbor Gate. Appointments will start on Friday, March 2nd. We will prepare and E-File both Federal and State Taxes, and where applicable Local Taxes and Property Tax rebates. This service is also available starting February and continuing through April on Tuesdays at the Myerstown Church of the Brethren, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Lebanon Senior Center. Please call on a Tuesday or Thursday between 9 AM and 2 PM beginning in late January to schedule an appointment at these locations. Any questions, call Jack ATTENTION ALL LADIES Don t miss the Winter/Spring session of the Ladies Pool League. If you ve never played pool, but know how to laugh and enjoy yourself, come sign up and join us. It s a great way to make new friends, maybe learn a new skill, but mostly have a lot of fun. Play will start on Tuesday, January 23rd and continue until April 24th. If we have 16 or more players, we will have two sessions, starting at 9:30 and 11 AM. With less than 16 players, we ll start at 10 AM. The sign up sheet for the Ladies Pool League is in the pool room until January 16th. 5 Page 5 Lakeview Center Newsle er CHRISTMAS TREE DECORATING CONCERT A small but enthusias c audience was entertained and par cipated in the Christmas tree decora on with music performed by the Arbor Gate Music Club. The fun filled program was hosted by our own Monica Baebler with holiday songs interrupted by surprise visits from the crotchety lady (Nelson Long), who wanted only our newly decorated tree, the ornery old lady (Nancy Kime) who made a scene and had to be prac cally restrained from walking out altogether, the fran c elf (Ella) repor ng that Rudolph the Reindeer s nose was not ligh ng, and a nearsighted Santa Claus ( Kim Baebler) who misread his calendar thinking it was Christmas Eve. The concert finished with both sacred and secular sing-a-longs followed by refreshments offered by our own Arbor Gate Bakers. It was a great way to begin the holiday season and the Lakeview Center treasury subsidy was greatly appreciated by all those in a endance. May Peace and Happiness be with you in the coming year. Nov minutes have been posted & approved. TREASURER S REPORT: Phil Viveiros, Treasurer. Nov Report: Acct Bal: $15, Available Bal.: $10, Payments not yet made to caterer & DJ for Christmas Dinner. ORDER OF THE DAY: (Election) Carol Ulsh, Nominating Committee, introduced 2 candidates for one Board position: Trudy Yeager & Ed Consalo. Ballots were distributed & collected. Carol, Joenita Speiss, & Tom Sarisky tallied the votes while the meeting resumed. NEW BUSINESS: Men s Single Pool Tournament on Jan. 17, Ladies pool will begin Jan. 23, After a vote, the residents passed a motion to donate $250 to Keystone, Goodwill & Kutztown EMT/Fire & $500 to the Myerstown EMT. Carol U. announced $1000 has been collected by the VA Angels for the Lebanon VA Hospital. 30 sweatsuits were donated. LIBRARY: Art Kearney, Liaison. Helen Ostertag, Librarian & committee will be categorizing the books in January. HOSPITALITY: Art K., Liaison. Carol Ulsh, Chair. (See Newsletter) NEWSLETTER: Art K., Liaison. Bonnie Miller, Chair. The shop is closed Christmas Day & New Year s Day. KITCHEN: Joan Viveiros, Chair asked that if you want to get rid of old, used towels in good condition, please donate them to the kitchen. EMERGENCY SERVICES: Russ K. asked to inform him if your CPR certification is expiring. MUSIC CLUB: IvaJean C., Chair announced caroling on Dec. 17, See Newsletter for information on a January 1, 2018 concert. ACTIVITIES: IvaJean C., Temporary Liaison. (For upcoming activities, see Newsletter). We are in need of an Activities Coordinator. FITNESS/POOL: Tom Sarisky reported 2 new people have signed up to clean billiard balls. SUNSHINE: Margot McKain, Chair reported. (See Newsletter) REAL ESTATE: Eleanor Quinn - 3 properties on the market & 3 properties are sale pending. ELECTION RESULTS: 53 residents in attendance. Results: Ed Consalo - 32 votes. Trudy Yeager - 21 votes. After a meeting with Board members following adjournment to discuss Board member appointments, the Board has decided that all will remain the same with Ed Consalo appointed as Liaison for Activities Committee, Sunshine & Fitness/Pool.
