After a mild but very drawn out winter, you are finally able to scratch that camping itch. This year we had quite a few new campers get set up here at Poor Farmer s, 25 to be exact. If you discover that one of these new campers have moved in next to you, be sure to give them the traditional Poor Farmer s welcome; which consists of a fake map to the Olympic size swimming pool and the age old tradition which states that the new guy brings steaks to the first cookout. Our staff and activity committee have a great year in store for everyone. Opening season weekend alone is packed full of fun and food with the opening season bonfire, S mores bar, the golf cart drive in, 5k for Autism, Chili cook-off, Line dancing with Dan and finally, church service with Kathy Love. Shoot, after this weekend, you will probably be ready for winter again Just kidding! Poor Farmer s is a campground where you can enjoy yourself by participating in a variety of activities or just sit back and relax in a quiet atmosphere. No matter what your pleasure, we got you covered. So here s to all of you that make this campground great. Let s enjoy it while we can and have a great 2016 camping season! Jim and Doris have been loyal Poor Farmer s for quite some time and this makes the third time that they have received the honor of Site of the Month. Jim and Doris have put many hours into their site and it shows! For their hard work, Jim and Doris will receive free dumps for the entire month of May. So get your site together and maybe your site will be the next to receive this award. Happy Camping!

Bring your favorite Cast Iron dish or for those of you who are not cast iron chefs, you may bring any dish you want. This is a great opportunity for you to try different kinds of entrées, sides, and desserts made in cast iron pots and pans. If you are interested in learning, go to our parts store. We are an authorized Lodge Cast Iron dealer. After the carry-in, you will have an opportunity to exchange some cookies. Here s how it works: you cook up three dozen of your favorite cookies, and everyone fights over them. Seriously folks, it s like throwing a steak in a pool of piranha. Once the dust settles from the cookie chaos, we will pop a blockbuster hit on the big screen and eat popcorn. Don t miss this fun and food filled night. Parking for the Flea Market will begin on Monday May 30 th, at 5:00 PM! 5K Run/Walk for Autism Put your hands together for Amy Sturgill for putting together a great 5K run/walk for Autism Awareness. The total number of participants was 124 run/walkers. I would like to share my appreciation for all of the people who helped with the event; without the help of our friends and family these events would not go as smooth as they do. 5 Page 5 of 6 The Monthly Chatter The Noobs! Aaron, Stephanie & Rusty Kline Hobart students are always in and out of Poor Farmer s. Some Hobart students are so remarkable that we are able to work them part time while they are going to school. You may remember Branden (2014), Andrew (2014), Cody (2015) and Brett (2015); all Hobart students that helped us out in the service department and campground. This year we have a Hobart student that has given us more than part time help, he gave us his wife. Well, not so much gave, more like loaned. Aaron and Stephanie Kline came to Poor Farmer s in March of this year. Aaron started Hobart welding school and Stephanie was spending her days studying school work and taming their superhyperactive dog, Rusty. The first thing I learned about Stephanie is that she is not a dog whisperer, when I knocked on their door Rusty made it clear who was in charge. Once Steph got the puppy under control, I made her an offer she couldn t refuse unless Aaron said no, but he said yes and now she is one of us. Stephanie is a bright, pleasant, young woman who treats our customer s right and most of all, works well with the rest of the team. She is attending Florida State University for Speech Language Pathology and doing quite well. She enjoys fishing, hiking, cooking and spending time with her hubby and Rusty. Aaron is an avid fisherman, enjoys mountain biking, surfing, and hunting many different animals most recently, rats. He is attending Hobart in order to improve his welding skills as well as his bank account. These two young newlyweds will be at Poor Farmer s for the rest of the summer. So when you see them, make sure you congratulate them on their nuptials as well as their success. They are a great addition to Poor Farmer s and Stephanie is a wonderful help for the rest of the staff in the parts store. Stop by, introduce yourself to Stephanie and while you are at it, buy something so she can get all the training she can get. Welcome to Poor Farmer s Aaron and Stephanie!
