Your adventure begins by checking into one of the beautiful cabins at Putney Trailhead (606) Once you get settled in, prepare yourself for a one-of-a-kind country meal prepared at The Miner s Diner in Totz (606) After dinner, you and your group can wrap up the night by enjoying a few frames at Hamrick s Bowling Center (606) Get ready for the thrill of a lifetime as you tackle the trails of the Black Mountain Off-Road Adventure Area through the Putney Trailhead. Here you ll experience elevations up to 3300 feet and over 150 miles of exciting terrain! Make sure you pack a lunch! In the evening, you can take advantage of the trailheads amenities by reserving a Kayak and explore the headwaters of the Cumberland River (606) If you don t want to get wet, try exploring Portal 31 (606) , which offers visitors the unique experience of touring an actual coal mine by rail car. You can also head toward Kingdom Come State Park (606) , where you can explore 14 hiking trails and 4 mountaintop overlooks!

SUNDAY: On the last day of your adventure, you will get to experience the thrill of the Black Mountain Thunder Zipline (606) With 11 lines, up to 500 feet high, 2 miles of cable, and about 60 miles per hour, Black Mountain Thunder Zipline is Kentucky s newest, highest, and fastest zipline! Your family weekend begins by checking into your hotel room at the Holiday Inn Express (606) You and your family will enjoy the pool, continental breakfasts, and hospitality provided by the uniquely Harlan staff! Once you get settled in, prepare yourself for a delicious meal at Ken and Paul s Family Steak House & Pizza (606) After dinner, you and your family can enjoy a few frames at Hamrick s Bowling Center (606) After that make sure you head to Dairy Hut (606) for some delicious ice cream and shakes! Your family-fun-weekend continues as you head over to The Stone Mountain Boat Dock (606) to have a picnic lunch and some family-fishing-fun on a rental boat! After spending some time on the boat why not head to Martin s Fork Lake (606) where you can enjoy biking, swimming, picnic shelters, basketball, volleyball, exercise trails, & a playground for the little ones! Next head up to Cumberland and spend some time in Kingdom Come State Park (606) where your family and you can enjoy hiking, paddle boats, putt-putt golf, and more! On your way back make sure you have a late dinner at Black Mountain Pizza (606) for some delicious food for the whole family!

7 NATURE weekend ARRIVAL (Friday): Welcome to beautiful, mountainous, and unique Harlan, Kentucky! Your nature weekend begins by arriving at Martins Fork Lake (606) and pitching your tents at the primitive camping areas! Before using one of the grills to prepare dinner, make sure you take a short trip on the Cumberland Shadow Trail or visit Quadrule Falls. You can also take a night time swim in the lake or fish! Saturday: The next morning, head to Kingdom Come State Park (606) and experience the 14 hiking trails & 4 mountaintop overlooks that the park offers. You can also visit Log Rock, a natural sandstone bridge, and Raven Rock, a giant rock exposure that soars 290 feet into the air! There are plenty of picnic spots for a packed lunch. Then head to Pine Mountain Settlement School (606) to experience the nature & wildlife that makes Harlan unique. By calling ahead, you can arrange lodging for the night and participate in educational programs concerning the wildlife or nature, Night Hikes, Orienteer, and visit Split Rock! Take dinner with you and eat underneath the stars!

8 PARKS, NATURE PRESERVES & MORE Blanton Forest State Nature Preserve Kingdom Come State Park Kentenia State Forest Martins Fork Lake Big Black Mountain In HARLAN, KY Camp Blanton Cranks Creek Lake and Wildlife Management Area Pine Mountain Settlement School Little Shepherd Trail SUNDAY: On the last day of your nature weekend, you will head to Blanton Forest State Nature Preserve (502) which is Kentucky s largest and most diverse old-growth forest. There are over 400 different species of plants and there are hiking trails that lead to Knobby Rock which overlooks the forest canopy and Watts Creek Trail. There are plenty of shelters and areas for you and your group to have a packed lunch! You won t have time to experience every trail, overlook, state park, lake, etc on a weekend trip, so we hope to have you back next time so you can see all that unique Harlan has to offer! 9 weekend ARRIVAL (Friday): Welcome to Harlan, KY where our majestic mountains thrust toward the open skies. Harlan is the setting for the FX series Justified. Upon arrival in Harlan, make sure you stop by the Harlan Center (606) and see some props from the set of Justified. Make sure you ask about a photo-op on Ivy Hill that plays in the opening credits of Justified! You can also get information about the county, city, and attractions that Harlan has to offer. Then head to The Mount Aire Motel (606) to check in. After settling in, prepare yourself for a one-of-a-kind country meal prepared at Ken and Paul's Family Steakhouse and Pizza (606) where Raylan himself would have to loosen a belt notch or two. Saturday: It s time to get the real Justified, experience in Harlan, KY. To start your day make arrangements at the Putney Campgrounds (606) to kayak on the Cumberland River. The Cumberland River Band is named after this waterway and they have songs featured in Justified. After having lunch at one of our local restaurants, head to The Harlan Country Club (606) where you can see the clubs grounds and play a round of golf. The Sandy Beach Country Club is based on this club and golf course. Next, travel to downtown Harlan where you can take a self-guided walking tour of the place that inspired the show Justified. Be sure to stop by the Harlan County Coal Miners Memorial Monument!

10 BE SURE TO STOP BY THE HARLAN CENTER AND SEE PROPS FROM JUSTIFIED AND MORE! One of the major elements in the series Justified is the coal industry. On the last day of your Justified weekend, be sure to visit the Kentucky Coal Mining Museum (606) where you can see the coal miners legacy from his home, to his work, and his community. The museum also offers the Loretta Lynn Museum and a mock Underground Mine (Portal 32). Don t forget to make reservations for Portal 31 (606) where animated exhibits show you how coal miners worked underground from the early 1900 s to the present. When you and your group decide to conclude your weekend, make sure you stop by The Miner s Diner in Totz (606) for a delicious meal!
