The BMW Club Christmas Party is Friday Dec. 5. You get a day after that to rest up then we have the December Club ride on Sunday. Long term forecast calls for weather around 50 on Sunday (Dec 7).

The ride is a big one. 135 miles (then you still have to get home from Dry Ridge). Takes about 3 hours.

We'll meet at the Colonial Cottage, 3140 Dixie Hgy, Erlanger KY 41018, for breakfast at 10:00AM and we ride at 11:00AM. Park up behind the restaurant in the bottom of the Kroger's parking lot. The ride is a big one. 135 miles (then you still have to get home from Dry Ridge). Takes about 3 hours. We're going to Ken Norris's favorite town - Stamping Ground KY by way of Rt 227 (a great road), then on to Georgetown KY, then we wind around some back roads heading back up North to Dry Ridge. Have a full tank of gas & plan to be back home about 3:00. This will be a good ride before you need to shut it down for 2 months of winter... Uncle Steve

3 New Business Gerard Izzo was voted in as a new member. Gerry is married to Deana, rides a red BMW R1100 RS, lives in Boone County, KY, and flies for Jet Blue. Tom Raybuck announced that he received a new BMW 1200 GS as a gift from his Mother. The white bike was parked out front for all to see. Tom s Mom was nominated for Mother of the Year. George Nyktas announced the 2015 RA Rally will be held in the Ozark mountains at Harrison, AR. Dates will be Oct Check the BMWRA website for more info. Tom Raybuck announced the 2015 Mini Rally will be held on the first weekend of May. Weather is predicted to be... you know, 70 and sunny. Free Little Debbies are to be available. Ken Norris reviewed a $54 high-viz See Me vest from Conspicuity, Inc. Ken gives the product high ratings in construction and in utility. Order on line at Conspicuity Inc. Steve Thoerner proposed a change to the By Laws regarding Club officer term limits, but withdrew his motion after a brief discussion. Bill Berry made a motion for adjournment at 8:24 PM. Said motion was enthusiastically embraced by all those present. After adjournment Jessie Baublitz won the drawing for Split the Pot. Several other names were drawn for hats and other door prizes provided by BMW of Grand Rapids. Recorded by Neil Jones, Club Secretary

4 Meeting was held Saturday, November 8 at the home of Ian & Pam McCurrach President Bill Wright called the meeting to order at exactly 7:50PM. Forty-three members and guests were in attendance. Guests were Blane & Lynn Kamp from BMW of Grand Rapids, Gerry Izzo and Brent & Lin Miller. Treasurer s Report Treasurer Cheryl Ritter reported no financial transactions occurred since the last meeting. The checking account balance remained steady at Her report was approved by voice vote. Old Business Joe DeLuca is now recovering at home, continuing to make progress after his October 10 motorcycle accident. Mike Solace has been spotted back on the job at Motohio. John Sires is doing well, recovering at his home in Dublin, Ohio, and planning to ride his new K1300GT in the spring. Nominations for 2015 Club Officers are open. Election will be held December 5 at the Holiday Party in Fairfield. Candidates who have expressed an interest in serving include: Neil Jones for President, Tom Raybuck for Vice President, Cheryl Ritter as Treasurer. Joe DeLuca has asked for someone else to take his place as Secretary. Members are encouraged to speak up if they have an interest in serving. Nominations are not closed at this time. Holiday Party is scheduled for Friday, December 5th at Receptions in Fairfield off Rt. 4. We are planning a gift exchange, beer exchange, display of BMW motorcycles, perhaps a chicken dance. Good food, great service, free beer and wine, Motohio will bring bikes to display. Bill Wright wants to know which bike models you would like to see displayed. Burr Oak 2015 scheduled for September Cottages will be $120, lake view lodge rooms will cost $99. Our contract is signed, call Burr Oak to reserve your stay. November 2 Breakfast & Ride was a big success on a frigid but sunny morning, with 18 bikes showing up. VP Steve Thoerner led a group ride on country roads into Indiana. Polar Bear Challenge is a winter mileage contest organized by Bob s BMW, offering prizes of heated riding gear from Gerbings. Notify Bill Wright if you want to compete. $2500 in prizes will be awarded each month. Ken Norris reported on Vintage Days at Barber Motorsports, noting that it was a well organized event with a huge flea market, good camping and races, worthwhile to attend next year. more..

5 Friday December 5, PM Receptions, Inc., Fairfield Banquet Center 5975 Boymel Drive (Off Rt. 4) Fairfield, OH Our GCBMWC Holiday Party is this Friday, December 5. We look forward to a great 2014 party at Receptions. Don t let the white tablecloths fool you. Wearing jeans is acceptable, Christmas jeans if you ve got them. Great food, appetizers, choices of main entrée and sides, Free Beer & Wine. We are repeating the dessert plan where members are asked to bring a dessert to share. $30 per person. Same price as the last two years. What a bargain. It is too late to mail in a reservation. If you want to participate and are not yet on the guest list, phone one of the spokespersons below. Receptions is a well-organized, high class joint with good food and great service. There is plenty of room for our event and a big side door which will allow us to bring in motorcycles for display. Last year we hosted over 60 members & guests. This year we hope to attract a few more by offering great food, awards, prizes, new motorcycles on display, a few games, optional gift exchange, beer exchange, and a good time with some of the nicest bikers and biker babes in town. 6 As my term serving as your club president draws to an end, I have been reflecting on the past three years and want to share some thoughts with all of you. First of all, it has been an honor and a pleasure representing our club as I have attended most national rallies for both of our charters as well as many club rallies and local events. Knowing that I had your support and encouragement throughout my term certainly made fulfillment of my duties most enjoyable and for that, I express my deepest gratitude. I would also like to thank my fellow officers for the outstanding jobs they did with their respective positions. To Vice President, Steve Thoerner, thanks for having my back while I was down with health issues last summer and also for leading us on some of the most well organized and safest club rides we ve experienced together. The routing details and pre-ride efforts that you invested time into certainly paid off in many smiles of fun for us all. To Neil Jones, thanks for the many hours of keyboard time required to publish one of the best club newsletters I ve read (many of which were prepared while adventure traveling abroad) and also for applying your business acumen to organizing and managing our annual Christmas parties. To Cheryl Ritter, thanks for lending your banking expertise to keeping our coffers solvent and spreadsheets black and for distributing funds, flowers, and cards on a timely basis as well as collecting dues, fees, and split-the-pot monies. I also want to recognize Debbie Smith and Eric Raterman for your contributions early in my term. I have the deepest respect for all of you and attribute the health of our organization to your efforts. Thanks to Neil Jones and Larry Lovejoy for their excellent success with organizing and managing our Christmas Party Committee for the past three years, and counting. Thanks to Joe DeLuca and all who have assisted him on the Fall Outing Committee, the Carter Caves and Burr Oak events have been hugely popular. Thanks to all who have opened their homes to host a monthly meeting or a seasonal party, you are all wonderful. To the rest of our membership, I thank you all for indulging my casual style and conduct of meetings that have, at times, been loosely compliant with Roberts Rules of Order. I firmly believe that as a result, we are realizing an exciting vibrancy within our membership as our activities and event attendance grows with each passing month. It seems that there is a steady stream of new members, all of whom are welcomed by each and every one of you which is an indication that our club is healthy and socially enjoyable. Kudos to all of you!

7 To our newer members, welcome to YOUR club and thank you for participating. My hope is that you will lend your respective skills to our collective effort as you volunteer for various committees and/or leadership roles. Please offer ideas and opinions as this club can only evolve with your input and energy. Welcome again! On a personal note, I can t thank everyone enough for the heartfelt support that has been extended over the past riding season to several of our own during times of duress, tragedy, and unfortunate accidents. The nature of motorcycling includes a degree of risk that we all accept and relate to and with that considered, it is only reasonable to expect the occasional incident with injury that involves a fellow club member. My worst fear as a leader, knowing that this type of news was inevitable in an organization of our size, was relaying it to our membership. I thank God that I have only had to report injuries, albeit some significant, and nothing more tragic. On a more upbeat note, we also have achievements to celebrate over the past three years. At risk of missing a few (forgive me), some noteworthy endeavors were as follows. Welcome home to our intrepid world traveler, Merill Glos, and the excellent travelogue reports included along the way well done sir! And to John Sires on completion of his Four Corners ride, followed shortly after by an unfortunate crash (from which he is nearly mended). And to Neil Jones for his adventures to Panama AND Alaska, both of which were accomplished while flogging an RT (2) like a rented GS. Regards to Jessie Baublitz for her determination to learn, and consequently master, GS riding. To all of the retired guys that seem to always be departing or returning from an epic trip (yes, I m envious but not bitter). To all of those that have ridden within all 48 contiguous states ( I lost the list but there are 5-6 of you). And to everyone else that ventured out on motorcycles to explore this big, old, crazy world that beckons beyond our couches. And to Joe DeLuca for being the Badass that he is, which is a trait that will serve him well as he continues his recovery. And to Linda Deluca for being Mrs. Badass, you better believe that she has Joe s back! We love you guys dearly. Yes, we have much to be thankful for. Merry Christmas, Bill
