1 July, 2017 Venetian Village Car Show on June 17, 2017 was a good show! It was a warm day, with a passing shower, but about 30 cars were on display. This was a joint affair with Cool Cruisers, and many of our members are also Cool Cruisers. Dick Reynolds' 1948 Chrysler.

4 President s Page Boy, oh Boy...Is it hot here in Naples!! And the mosquitoes are still carrying you away... Good time to get caught up on all those car repairs in your air-conditioned garage? The Club sponsored a show at The Village Shops on Venetian Bay....Had a great turnout and all received a $15.00 restaurant coupon plus a free car wash...and the Club got money! I recently purchased a 24' all aluminum car hauler. Really looking forward to the 55 to 57 all Chevy Tri Five Nationals event in August in Bowling Green, Kentucky.... And the AACA Hershey PA show in October. Take a look at Paul and Yvonne's car hauler, below (ed.). My new Garage on the Island adventure is going ever so slowly. Collier County has a million building rules....hope to start building my six-thousand square feet retreat by the end of August. 5 Editor's Page I have taken Paul Rhoads' advice and gotten out of hot, sticky and bug-ridden Naples. I don't have an airconditioned garage for working on a car project, so I did the next best thing: I got out of town. So, on June 30 th, I left our neck of woods at 1:45am, heading due north. After an arduous 1400 mile trip, I reached my destination, arriving on July 1 in the late afternoon. So I am here, right now, writing brief missive on the front porch of a turn of the century (20 th century, that is) manse overlooking beautiful Lake Chautauqua in upstate New York. There is a nice northerly breeze coming down the lake and a number of sailboats, and motorized ones too, going about the lake on a very pleasant Sunday afternoon. I will be here for about 10 days at the Chautauqua Institution partaking in all sorts of activities this place is famous for: music, arts, lectures, outdoor activities, etc... It's sort of like an adult Summer camp, I guess. Unfortunately, there is no antique car group in the area. One has to go to Buffalo, about 65 miles away, to find enough folks who like old cars. Then, I'm off to Michigan to visit friends and family... Also looking forward to more of the same weather.. Patrick, Editor

6 Membership Chairman: Mid-year Membership Updates - I hope that this summer is going well for all Naples-Marco Members, with the seasonal folks staying cool and us full-timers keeping cool with our heads and old cars above water. We have welcomed nine new members since the first of the year. In fact, U.S. Senator Nelson (D-FL) and Senator Rubio (R-FL) heard the message from Florida racing enthusiasts and acted. They agreed to cosponsor the Recognizing the Protection of Motorsports Act (RPM Act), a bipartisan bill that protects Americans' right to modify street cars and motorcycles into dedicated race vehicles and safeguards the industry's right to sell the parts that enable racers to compete. 9 History, July, 2017 The July 1995 issue of the Running Board states the club would have no scheduled meetings or cook's night out during July or August. The next general meeting would be held in September. At this time (1995), there is an interesting listing of the Official Car Classifications from AACA. It starts with 3-wheel cars, buckboards, cycle cars up to Class three is for electric cars, pre1906. There were 3 classes for steam cars; 3 for Model T's; 10 for gas cars from 1906 thru 1929; and one class for classic cars and one for production cars. The car club is celebrating the 100th anniversary of AACA s emblematic 1895 Duryea. There are presently 58,000 members in the National AACA with 406 regions and chapters. At a previous meeting on May 25, 1990, Mason Seibel gave an interesting program on car restoration. At a future meeting he was scheduled to talk about the history of AACA.
