2 Cover: The Depot Show on March 26 was a resounding success. Thanks to all who participated and volunteered at this 30th anniversary show. The weather was perfect and the selection of cars was outstanding. 3 President s Page Where has the year gone? OK, I know it's not 'gone' yet, but sure feels like it since Easter is behind us and the roads are just beginning to get back to normal (i.e., no more waiting for more than one traffic light cycle to get across an intersection...). Restaurants are beginning to have some walk-in availability (remember to patronize the ones which you want to remember you next time 'season' hits), and the beach parking is no longer quite the issue it has been. And, of course, our Spring Farewell Picnic will be taking place on April 7 at Marco Island Yacht Club. Well, it's an indoor picnic for a change, but the weather is getting warm and a Marco-located event is always a nice inclusion on our calendar. Thanks to Yvonne for finalizing the arrangements, and (weather permitting) there will be a parking area reserved for special vehicles in front of the Clubhouse. As noted earlier, our 30th Annual Naples Depot Antique Auto Show was a great success (full report at the April 16 meeting), and the weather couldn't have been better. There is currently some possibility that we may have use of the field next year, and we'll try to have better assurance of that before year-end. Hope we'll have a great turnout at the 90th anniversary celebration of the Tamiami Trail on April 28th the 75th (which a few members attended) was a bit of a washout with knee-deep rain water, so we're looking forward to some redemption this time. We'll be meeting (as usual) at the Information Center at the intersection of 41 and 29 and proceeding into Everglades City at 10 AM. Those who wish may participate in the parade, as well as enjoying a barbeque lunch (an upgrade from the usual hot dogs) and birthday cake. In May we'll have our last regular meeting at the church, with June, July and August becoming cook's night out gatherings at local restaurants. Sandy and I will host one of them, and we're looking for volunteers for the two others. Work involved is simply making the arrangements with your favorite restaurant, and receiving calls/ from those who plan to attend. Ours will be north, so one more central, and another more south (maybe even on Marco?) would be a nice variety. Hands up? Do we need a clip board? Of course, also coming up in July & August will be our weekly Ice Cream Runs (usually coordinated by Hank Schweitering), with a new mystery destination selected each week by a different member. It will be a busy Summer, and we hope many of our members will be 'in town', and those who will be 'away' will send in stories of their adventures. Keep the shiny side up, Peter

4 Editor's Page Blast From the Past! Right out of the 1950s. I think the car might be a Dodge...a 56 or 57, just when fins were coming into vogue. When was the last time you were served at a gas station by an attendant wearing a cap and tie?...and no greasy shirt and pants for local color. I don't even recall seeing any Shell Stations with a service bay anymore (in Naples), but can't be sure. Ahhh, the good old days. It's fun to reminisce. Enjoy. Sunshine March 20 David French, Get Well March 2 Warren Dahl, Get Well 7452 West O Ave., Kalamazoo MI Cobblestone Lane #101, Naples FL Most of all, let love guide your life. 6 AACA Social Services Donations Coordination Just a reminder that our Club is currently involved in two somewhat-related opportunities to assist children and families in the Collier County area. For some time, Barbara Donald has been receiving (at our weekly breakfast and club meetings) and distributing donations of hotel-sized soaps and other toiletries to schools in Naples where these are needed by students and their families. Barbara: Laura Larsen recently had the opportunity to tour and donate a carload of needed items at Guadalupe Social Services in Immokalee. It is run through Catholic Charities. She toured the dining hall, kitchen and rooms where items are received and sorted. The center is set up for people to take showers, get their clothes washed and receive clothing as needed. They are also provided food much as a food bank would do. She has taken on the mission to help provide needed items, and plans to go there about every two months....more often if needed. The following list includes the items they need. Laura can pick up at our meetings or your house. Clothing for anyone including children Shoes, Towels, sheets, pillows, Kitchen items. Toys for the kids like balls to throw. Of course, laundry items, non perishable food, toiletries,. Basically, anything to sustain those in need. Thank you in advance for your contributions. Laura's phone number is Florida Car Shows & Events [Headlines in BOLD are Naples-Marco Events] Every Saturday, year round: Breakfast at Perkins, Pine Ridge Rd., just west of I75, Naples 7:52am Apr. 7 Naples-Marco Farewell 'Picnic'. Marco Island Yacht Club Noon. Location: 1400 N Collier, Marco Island. $27pp choice of beef burger, pot roast or chicken. Call Barbara Donald for menu detail and more info. Legislative Report Rhode Island Introduces Bill to Ease Window Tinting Restrictions H.B allows for non-windshield Window Tinting if it meets the minimum standard of 25% percent light transmittance.

8 (H.B eliminates the current strict standard of 43% light transmittance.) Overview: Legislation (H.B. 7972) in Rhode Island would mirror the window tinting and window reflectance requirements in Massachusetts. Under current Massachusetts law, non-windshield Window Tinting is allowed if it meets the minimum standard of twenty-five percent light transmi ttance. The bill has been introduced and referred to the House Committee on Judiciary. Grant Simon History, March, 2018 The April, 1996, issue of the Running Board starts with an interesting article from the president, Bob Vik. The weather up north must have been about like it is this year. Bob reports, I wonder why some of our members are starting to leave us for the summer? Looks to me like winter is hanging on for a long time this year. Bob goes on to tell the members that the Farewell Party would be in April, two days after their General Meeting. The group would be using the Chuck Wagon and everyone was to bring lawn chairs and a dish to pass. The Party was to be at the Veteran s Park off Immokalee Road. Bob had some members say they preferred going to a restaurant and he diplomatically urged them to be in charge of the event next year!!!! The membership chairman, Al Brehm reported 117 members paid. That included 15 new members. There were also many Thank You s handed out for help at the Depot Show! Why is it / When you try to pass / The guy in front / Goes twice as fast??
