1 July 2016 Issue #278 President s Chatter As most of you already know our annual club picnic has been changed from Jack Rourke s home in East Hartland to Nick and Fran Nesci s home in Kensington.! The date is August 7th.! If you plan to attend please call Fran at (860) !!!!!!!!!! Our trip to Barry Cone s railroad was fun for all.! Adults as well as children got to ride on his trains, be it the small one or the large, all through his property.! Barry talked about the history of the trains as well as projects that are still in the works.!!!!!!!!!! There are a few car shows coming up in the next couple of months. We will have flyers available at our next meeting.!a reminder that Bob and Lori Boutot have several cars and lots of Model A parts to sell. 2 Minutes of Northwestern CT A s Meeting Tues., June 28, 2016 Harwinton, CT Meeting Called to Order at 7:32 pm by our President, Bert Serra. Guests: - None Secretaries Report: Minutes of both April and May 2016 were read and accepted. Treasurer s Report: Read and Accepted. Membership: 33 paid members. Archie is still collecting dues for 2016 [$25.] Video Library: Don has the list of videos. Old Business Bob & Lori Boutot have parts for sale -- ask Archie for a list of items. New Business Jack Roarke's lawn and yard in East Hartland was scheduled for our August 7th Picnic. However, due to health reasons; two things: August Picnic will not be there. And he's selling his cars/trucks; Panel Truck, Cabriolet, Coupe, Roadster Pick-up, Woody Wagon and a 56 Chevy. Tour Report Don Bruno led us to Barry Cone's Rail Road collection. Many of us got to ride on 2 different trains. Each one has different rail sizes. (Gage) It was a great time seeing the layout through acres of his land, featuring bridges, tunnels, RR crossings, Lighted Semaphores, and more to come in this work-inprogress. You couldn't miss the BLAST from the Steam Whistle. Club Picnic This year the picnic will be at Nick & Fran Nesci's in Kensington (part of Berlin) Rain or Shine. We'll have the usual Hot Dogs & Hamburgs, trimmings, and food to share from members bringing their favorite dishes. A sign-up sheet will list who's bringing what, so that there are no duplicates. It merges with I84 for a very short time, stay left toward New Britain. Take Corbin Ave, right exit (rt 372) then Turn right and go 1.2 miles. Bear right at the stop sign; that's High Road (rt 71A). Go 2.5 miles; just pass 2 blinking lights, and turn right onto Blue Ridge Lane. Then left onto Brooke Meadow Road. Number 104 Tel Hint: If you are using GPS, destination is Berlin, not Kensington.
