1 Spring Issue March, 2014 Village of Doylestown Community Newsletter A Message From The Mayor... Welcome to the latest edition of the Community Newsletter! If you are like me, you probably think this winter will never end. Mother Nature has really handed us an abundance of cold, snow and ice, keeping us on our toes since December. Thankfully, I know spring is right around the corner and that is always a welcomed time. Our Village Council members are busy with their perspective committees, lining up all the projects the new year will bring. They are also helping our two new council members settle into their new responsibilities. We have been busy setting up our summer Main Street Music at the Bandstand series, which will bring new and exciting changes to our Friday evenings in June and July. The schedule is on page 7, as well as our contribution form. The picture above is from the front page of our new website. Village Council and I are very proud of the site and excited for the residents to utilize all the options it has to offer. We will be constantly updating and adding to the site to keep you coming back for more. One of my favorite aspects of the new sight is the ability to have an or text message sent to you for items such as curbside recycling dates, council meetings or when a new event gets posted on our Community Events Calendar. We are hoping that our residents take advantage of the electronic services the new website brings. You can even sign up to receive this newsletter directly in you inbox, which will help us save on postage. Please take a moment if you haven't already and log on, create an account and sign up for electronic messaging for the services you care about most. I hope you enjoy this issue of the Community Newsletter! Have a wonderful Spring. ~Mayor Terry Lindeman Brought to you as a community service and funded by the Village Council of Doylestown Inside This Issue Message From The Mayor Council Member Profiles Community Bulletin Board Income Tax Info Building Dept. This event will be held from 10 am - 1 pm. *Sponsored by the Village of Doylestown's Committee on Aging, Doylestown Health Care, and the Post Newspapers Spring Brush Pick Up Resumes Brush pick up is held on the 2nd Monday of each month from now until October. Pick up dates are April 14, May 12th, June 9th, July 14th, August 11th, September 8th, and Octo- ber 13th. Please note that weather may cause a delay on any of these regularly scheduled dates. Please follow these rules: Only put out enough material to be handled within 15 minutes. Each resident is allocated a maximum of 15 minutes worth of brush or leaves for disposal. Brush also needs to be stacked with branch ends all one direction. Cut ends need to be together and facing the street. This is a real time consuming task if the crew has to individually load the branches into the chipper. ~Message from the Street Department~ Due to the early snow fall this past leaf season, we will be scheduling a spring leaf pick up to finish collecting any leaves that we were unable to clear due to the weather. The exact date will be available in the near future. Please watch Channel 15, the marquee or check the website for the date. No mixture of leaves and brush will be removed. We do not collect both at the same time, because it requires different equipment. Piles must be to the curb by 8 am on pick up day. Thank you.

The primary goals of upgrading were not to only change the look, but to have the ability to grow and interact with our residents. While the old site was up to date on it s content, its functionality was outdated only because it was over 10 years old. The new site is easy to navigate and is also informative. We wanted to address the most frequently asked questions as well as allowing our residents the opportunity to receive electronic notices on everything from newsletters, curbside recycling, trash delays, and council meetings to also allowing groups to post their own events on our Community Events Calendar. The website has the ability to grow and incorporate all facets of technology that are popular today. So please take the time to log on and check it out.
