Origin & Destination with PAX Point of Origin (POO) by Agencies
Formats In what formats are the reports being distributed in? Excel (xls) is the standard format, but data can also be provided in other formats (such as txt, csv, mdb). Delivery How are data delivered? Data are delivered by iinet, the IATA Industry Exchange platform. iinet credentials will be sent to you to download the data from the iinet Website. When are data delivered? Data are delivered after contract signatures and payment receipts. Data not available at the time of contract signature will be delivered according to the contract terms. Data are generally available 10 (Origin & Destination reports) or 6 (Country or Point of Sales reports) weeks after the closing of the month.
Availability What time periods are available? Data are either monthly, quarterly or annually. Time-series are available from January 2005 onwards. What is the latest data available? For Origin & Destination reports, data are available 10 weeks after the closing of the month. For example, January 2009 data are available by the second week of April For Country or Point of Sales reports, data are available 6 weeks after the closing of the month. For example, January 2009 data are available by the second week of March 2009.
Can I choose other variables and/or breakdowns? The following variables are available: Passenger numbers Market Shares Average fares Revenue Yields Revenue passenger kilometers (RPK) Any request can be accommodated with the following breakdown options: Country of Sale (Country of Sale reports only) Point of Sale (Point of Sale reports only) Airline Connection airlines Origin country Origin Airport Destination country Destination airport Connection points Fare classes
Coverage What is the coverage of the data? Origin & Destination reports cover 100% of the markets. Country or Point of Sale reports only cover the parts which are captured through the available travel agency distribution systems, and do not cover airline direct (internet) sales. Do the data refer to the true origin/destination of the passenger? Yes. This means that possible intermediate stops and connections are accounted for. For example a passenger flying from London to Chicago with a connection in New York is accounted for as London to Chicago, even if the itinerary involves different airlines, provided however that the itinerary is part of the same air ticket. If a passenger makes a stopover rather than a stop, i.e. a stop of more than 24 hours, the stopover point is considered to be a destination.
Are the data directional or non-directional? As a standard, data are directional or one-way. Non-directional data or both ways can also be provided. Do the data cover all airlines? Yes. Also low-cost airlines and non-iata members are included. What is the Dominant Airline? If the itinerary (origin to destination) involves a connection with a change in airline, the airline with the longest segment is listed as the Dominant Airline. For example an itinerary of Minneapolis to Geneva via Amsterdam, Minneapolis to Amsterdam on Northwest Airlines, and Amsterdam to Geneva on KLM, the Dominant Airline is Northwest Airlines.
Are all passengers included? The passenger definition is based on the commercial concept of revenue passengers. Crew, airline employees travelling on fares not available to others, persons travelling for free, and infants that do not occupy a seat are excluded. Included are mileage redemption passengers and passengers travelling on preferential fares. Are all countries / regions included? IATA s database includes all countries and regions of the world. Data cover both international and domestic flights. Are all airports included? Yes. Data are presented at the airport level. In the case of a city having multiple airports, data are listed separately for the different airports. Are any flights excluded? Excluded are charter flights, and any flight that is non-commercial.
Which fare classes are available? First class, business class, full economy class, discount economy class, other classes. Where the distinction between the fare classes is not available, other classes is used. How are code-shared flights taken into account? Airlines are listed according to the marketing airline concept. As of code-shares, a flight operated by an airline may have more than one marketing airline. For example, a Delta Airlines operated flight between Minneapolis and Amsterdam that is code-shared between Delta Airlines and KLM will be listed under two separate entries, one containing the passengers marketed by Delta Airlines and one with the passenger numbers marketed by KLM.
Sources What are the data sources? Origin & Destination reports data are compiled from available travel agency distribution systems, and calibrated to reflect total market size estimates. Country or Point of Sales reports are compiled from available travel agency distribution systems only, however these can become extrapolated in order to represent the full market. Fare information refers to averages, based on reported data as well as estimates using regression and fare-scraping techniques.
