1 All Hazard Symposium October 15, 2015 Information gathered from the presentations at the All Hazard Symposium at Tazlina Hall on October 15, Notes taken by Libby Bengtson, LEPC Coordinator. Organization Contact Person Resources Tazlina Tribal Response Willard Hand - MOA/MOU with brown field sight clean ups - HAZWOPER Training and Refresher Courses - As of 2012, Tazlina has 6 known brownfield sights. - Tazlina Hall has 100 cases of rations, wood boiler, well and Red Box Gakona Community Fire Department Jason Severs - 50 Boxes of MREs - 40 Folding Cots - 15,000 gallons of water gallons of foam for fighting fire - 2 extrication equipment - Several generators - Fire Department may be used for shelter - Search and Rescue Training National Park Service Peter Christian - 7 law enforcement officers - Rangers are trained as EMTs and some are paramedics - 2 pilots - Have fuel and generator - NPS has MOUs with AST - Search and Rescue Training - Contact NPS through Mat-Com dispatch - NPS communicates on ALMAR radio frequency Kenny Lake Community Janelle Eklund - 2 Community Halls (one hall has a common area, two bathrooms with no showers and a well) - Large parking lot for helicopter landings Copper River Native Association Shanika Dunn and RO system (could offer clean water)

Benjamin Endres - Backup generator - 5 RNs, 1 MD - X-ray and Labs - 5 Health Aid Clinics (some trained to the EMT4 level and search and rescue training) - VPSO works closely with CRNA but do not have radios - Isolation Shower and decontamination area - Rations are in progress - No Emergency Care/After Hours Care - No Morgue - Call (use the system that is in place) - 4 AST - 4 VPSO - 2 Wildlife Troopers - Use ALMR frequency - Use a structured chain of command - Goal is to protect life and health - No graveyard shift but there is a trooper on stand-by Copper River EMS David Abbott Road Miles - Volunteer Squad (23 responders) - BLS crews - Have AEDs GlennRich Fire Rescue Matt Catledge - MOAs are in place - 5 stations throughout the community - 40,000 gallons ready to go - Ladder truck - Heavy rescue truck - 17 volunteer responders - Numerous radios - Train with EMS and Forestry Cross Road Medical Center Laura Thiesen Libby Bengtson - 3 Mid-Level Providers - 12 RNS - 2 Medical Assistants - Licensed Clinical Social Worker - Non-medical personnel - Maintenance/Security - X-ray - Lab - Pharmacy - Grab & Go Triage - Chaplains
3 Copper River School District - Water purifier - Morgue (2 body) Kathi Hindman GLENNALLEN - L Shaped School - Largest School - 3 Entrances and Exits - Outbuildings (district office, maintenance, shop, hockey) - Football field would be a place to hold supplies or helicopter landing - Parking lot is large - Auditorium could be used for community meetings/updates - 24 Classrooms - Commercial Kitchen - GYM - Computer Lab - Pets could be kept in the shop - Does NOT have its own well - AEDs - Staff trained in CPR/First Aid Needs: - No Generator - MOA/MOUs with Red Cross Designated Shelters - No priority line with the electric company - No alternative for heat KENNY LAKE - L Shaped School - 3 Kitchens - 6 Classrooms - Generator (not big enough to run everything needed for the school) - Track size clearing for supplies - Only one way in and one way out - Good place to store a disaster preparedness conex Needs: - Bigger generator CHISTOCHINA - Box school layout - Has its own power SLANA - Kitchen
4 DHS & EM (Jared Woody, Mike Drummond) - Will not take over the incident - Will bring people who are cross trained to assist in the disaster - Liaisons with the state and other agencies - Help set up unified command - Can help us moving forward (generators for schools, school disaster planning) MAT-SU BOROUGH (Casey Cook) - Advice o Mat-Com is not part of the borough o Work on a telephone tree to inform those in leadership during a disaster o Use the SEOC as your point of contact FEMA (Ramona) - FEMA in AK is not a response agency - We are Region X - FEMA works with the state of AK - FEMA does have grants for preparedness and training 3-4 Classrooms - Has its own power GAKONA - Houses OCS and CAC - On the river not a good shelter option COPPER CENTER RED CROSS (Bill Morrow) - Go anywhere we need to be - Use the SCERPs - Have templates for shelter agreements - Can register thought the National Shelter System Database - We are dispatched through Mat-Com - Volunteers are needed in our area - Kitchen - 4 Classrooms - Outbuildings - Area for helicopter to land and drop supplies - Needs 6 hours to be turn key
