3 PRE-DISASTER PRESS RELEASE <INSERT LOCATION> <INSERT JURISDICTION> is anticipating disaster debris as a result of <INSERT DISASTER>. The <JURISDICTION> urges residents to take precautions to minimize the disaster damage. Secure outdoor furniture, toys, appliance, potted, plants and other items. Take precautions to secure your home. Monitor weather radio current information. Do not attempt to conduct tree work or pruning prior to the disaster. Report immediate life-safety issues to the police. If you do not evacuate, be prepared to sustain yourself and your family for up to 3 days without assistance. Once sustained winds are below 45 miles per hour, crews will deploy to immediately conduct debris clearance from major roadways. This allows emergency response vehicles to pass through the area to support life-safety operations. Once emergency roadway clearance is complete, the <JURISDICTION> will begin debris pick up operations. Please be patient and be prepared. Follow debris set out instructions to help speed up the process.

4 POST-DISASTER PRESS RELEASE #1 <INSERT LOCATION> <INSERT JURISDICTION> is beginning to assess the damage from <INSERT DISASTER NAME>. Residents are urged to take precautions when conducting cleanup operations on their property. Many disaster-related casualties and fatalities occur during the disaster cleanup process. Be aware of damaged water, gas, and electric lines. Be aware of damaged building and construction materials. Do not attempt to conduct major tree work ore reconstruction without proper equipment, permits, and training. Be aware of household hazardous waste and contaminants. Report any hazardous materials spills to: <INSERT HOTLINE> The <JURISDICTION> is immediately conducting debris clearance from major roadways. This allows emergency response vehicles to pass through the area to support life-safety operations. Once emergency roadway clearance is complete, the <JURISDICTION> will begin debris pick up operations. Please be patient and be prepared. Follow debris set out instructions to help speed up the process.

5 POST-DISASTER PRESS RELEASE #2 <INSERT LOCATION> <INSERT JURISDICTION>. The <JURISDICTION> has completed damage assessments and emergency roadway clearance of debris and will begin the process to remove debris from public roads beginning <INSERT DATE>. Residents should move disaster related debris to the public right-of way. The public right-of-way is the area of property that extends from the street to the sidewalk, ditch, utility pole or easement. Keep disaster debris separate from your regular household trash. Garbage collection will begin normal operations on <INSERT DATE>. If you are unable to move your disaster debris to the public right of way, contact <INSERT HOTLINE> for assistance. Volunteer organizations are assisting residents with cleanup efforts. These organizations include: <LIST VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATIONS> Residents that live in gated communities or on private roads should contact their homeowner s association for instructions.

6 POST-DISASTER PRESS RELEASE #3 <INSERT LOCATION> <INSERT JURISDICTION>. The <JURISDICTION> is beginning to conduct right-of-way debris collection operations on public roads. <JURISDICTION> residents are asked to place disaster debris on the public right-of-way (or curb) immediately. Trucks will begin debris collection operations on <INSERT DATE>. The public right-of-way is the area of property that extends from the street to the sidewalk, ditch, utility pole or easement. The <JURISDICTION> will only remove: <CHOOSE WHICH DEBRIS TYPES APPLY> Vegetative debris (woody debris such as limbs and shrubbery), Construction and demolition debris (damaged lumber and wood, gypsum wallboard, glass, metal, roofing material, tile, carpeting and floor coverings, window coverings, pipe, concrete, fully cured asphalt, equipment, furnishings, and fixtures). White Goods (refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, heat pumps, ovens, ranges, dish washing machines, clothes washing machines and dryers). Electronic Waste (Electronics that contain hazardous materials, cathode ray tubes, computer monitors and televisions). Household Hazardous Waste Debris Removal (gasoline cans, aerosol spray cans, paint, lawn chemicals, batteries, fire extinguishers, and fluorescent lamps). Do not place bagged debris or garbage on the public right-of-way, only loose, storm-related debris will be collected. Any <INSERT EXCLUDED DEBRIS TYPES> resulting from <INSERT DISASTER> should be taken to <INSERT WASTE FACILITY LOCATION>. Do not place debris near water meter vault, fire hydrant or any other above-ground utility. Debris contractors will be assisting the <JURISDICTION> with cleanup efforts. Contractor vehicles will have placards on the side of the truck.

7 POST-DISASTER PRESS RELEASE #4 <INSERT LOCATION> <INSERT JURISDICTION>. The <JURISDICTION> has completed the first pass of right-of-way debris collection and will conduct its <SECOND/FINAL> pass on <INSERT DATE>. <JURISDICTION> residents are asked to place disaster debris on the public right-of-way (or curb) immediately. The public right-of-way is the area of property that extends from the street to the sidewalk, ditch, utility pole or easement. The <JURISDICTION> will only remove: Do not place bagged debris or garbage on the public right-of-way, only loose, storm-related debris will be collected. Any <INSERT EXCLUDED DEBRIS TYPES> resulting from <INSERT DISASTER> should be taken to <INSERT WASTE FACILITY LOCATION>. Do not place debris near water meter vault, fire hydrant or any other above-ground utility. Debris contractors will be begin additional cleanup efforts on <INSERT DATE>, including: <CHOOSE PROGRAMS THAT APPLY> Hazardous limb and stump removal (hanging limbs, leaning tree trunks, uprooted trees). Hazardous vessels removal (boats, cars, and other vehicles). Private property debris removal (debris removal on private roads). Contractor vehicles will have placards on the side of the truck. The <JURISDICTION> has set up a debris hotline for questions, comments, and concerns. The hotline number is <INSERT HOTLINE NUMBER>.
