3 Rear Commodore Report The April 2017 Doe Run has happened and it was a wonderful weekend for the 17 ladies of WSYC. - Susan Scott and her daughter Shawna Clark, Julie Baker and her daughter Michelle, Doreen Rupprecht and her daughter Jenny Handy, Lori Lesieur, Dori Schnelz, Dee Selk, Susan Ponselle, Mary Ann Lobdell and guest Michelle Pepion, Brandy Lobdell and her Mom Loretta, Deborah Olson, Judy Giddens and Lee Lightle; it was a great turn out for this event! We got a chance to check out beautiful Victoria, B, C, from all the yummy restaurants, to the fun shops, some checked out Butchart Gardens and others checked out the Craigdarroch Castle. All in all it was a great time and a lot of fun with great ladies...so what happens in Canada stays there :) Looking forward to the next Doe Run in 2018!! The April 2017 Stag Cruise is in the history books. Thirteen boats were present. On Tuesday, Miss Jo Dai, Queen Jodine, Spring Tides, Kindred Spirit, Cree, Synchronicity, Kookie 2, Good Enuf, Mypawsea, Mind Shadow, Four of a Kind and BraveFart all made the cruise. A great showing for our small club. Well over 30 members, crew and guests attended. The chili cook off was won by a narrow margin with Alex Ethier having the winning pot. Our Super-Secret location was more than accommodating with most of us ending up at the newly opened Sports Bar at the head of the dock in the evening. On Sunday when all Captains, crew, gear, and clothing was accounted for we headed home to our respective ports, leaving nothing behind but memories. The Opening Boating Day May 2017 was a blast - Thank you so much Bob and Linda Schrader s, for hosting this event!! You Are Best!! We had nine boats joins us this year, couple of first timers Queen Jodine, Miss-Jo-Dai, Geaux Krewes, Spring Tides, then the rest were the normal gang, Ohana, Eggzila, Seajoy,On Tuesday, Hop Aboard, The Huskies rowing team was amazing - won every race!! We had yummy food at Queen City Yacht Club, & great fun with great WSYC members!! May 26th-29th, will be our Memorial Day cruise at Kingston - Here is the latest from the Port: Currently we have our group located at the end of the guest dock from 36 to 49. Each member is welcome to begin reserving their slip now, however, please be aware, that this could still change as we get closer to the time frame, and the Port may still be reconstructing our covered moorage. We will strongly endeavor to find slips for you, but we cannot guarantee which slips. Also I asked about the picnic covered gazebos along the guest docks, these cannot be reserve, but we can make sure once we arrive to put our WEST SEATTLE YACHT CLUB sign up, that way we make sure that area is saved for our weekend. Also remember the Farmers Market on Saturday ;) most likely we will have happy hours on the dock -Friday-night dinner will be at the Kingston Yacht Club-bring meat for you to BBQ and a side dish to share Saturday - Linda & Bob will provide dinner meats and salad (bring side dish or dessert). Sunday - Kingston Ale House - Bob made reservation for 16 so far. Then Monday Memorial Day potluck breakfast 9am and then do a memorial service, so bring flowers if you can, thanks. PLEASE CALL - Chrystal Kott - to reserve your slips for the Memorial Day cruise Port of Kingston June 9th-11th - Seafood Feed - will be at Des Moines Marina - we have 12 slips for this cruise - please let me know if you are coming - I will be making the reservation for the club. The reservation fee is $5.00 per boat which is not due until 30 days before this cruise and it will be a onetime payment made by WSYC. Don will have the coast guard auxiliary do a boat inspection at this cruise, so that will be great! thanks and looking forward to more fun events/ cruises - always, Doreen Rupprecht - Rear Commodore :) Page 3

6 Purser Report Happy Spring to All! A quick update for the TV raffle. We are so so close to our goal for ticket sales. About 2/3 of the club membership has participated thus far in the raffle. Many thanks to the members, who have both participated and have brought guests to our gatherings, who have also joined in to support the club. There is a high correlation between the two groups (something like 100%)! If you haven t had a chance to grab a ticket or five for the raffle yet, please consider doing so over the course of the next couple of meetings and gatherings. If we can just get another third of the membership to take a chance on this, we ll hit our goal. Thanks to all those who participate. Remember, it s your club and could be your TV for a mere $20.
