In the very heart of Glasgow, the City Chambers is one of the city s most important and prestigious buildings. A grand and imposing edifice overlooking George Square, the City Chambers is an impressive symbol of Glasgow s political strength and historical wealth. Completed in 1888, for over a hundred years, it has been the headquarters of successive councils serving the City of Glasgow. The impressive marble staircase is reputed to be the largest in the world and is constructed in and surrounded by white Carrera marble. The floors at first and second floor level are also in marble, and the third floor is made up of Venetian mosaic tiles showing a wide variety of colours and designs. The City Chambers offers a truly unique and stunning venue providing a number of rooms to suit a wide variety of high profile events. The Banqueting Hall is the main civic function suite for important conferences meetings and concerts and can comfortably accommodate up to 300 people for dinner. The principal features include many paintings by Glasgow artists depicting historic scenes of the city, ornate stained glass windows, large murals and chandeliers. The Lord Provost s Dining Room nearby is the setting for fine dining of the highest standard prepared for Royalty, visiting Heads of State, leaders of industry and civic dignitaries. The Satinwood Suite is yet another spectacular setting, accommodating up to 80 people for dinner. This room is lined with exotic satinwood imported from Queensland which is now considered extinct. There are many very detailed carvings around the walls, windows overlooking George Square, and a large alabaster fireplace.

Every aspect of the planning and preparation of the event has helped to make a truly memorable occasion for Glasgow, Scotland, and Scottish Football. As one of Scotland's most popular tourist attractions, the magnificent Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is a stunning location for any formal or informal gathering. The building boasts an art collection of international significance which includes works by Rembrandt, Botticelli, Van Gogh and Lippi. The museum also has a large collection of arms and armour as well as hosting Scotland's premier science, technology and natural history collection. Glasgow's most famous creative son; Charles Rennie Mackintosh is also represented, with a major collection of his work on permanent display. Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum recently opened after a major refurbishment and resides in an impressive Victorian building set amidst its own park, with a picturesque backdrop provided by the gothic splendour of Glasgow University. Surrounded by the some of the world s greatest artworks, Encore have welcomed the challenge of successfully entertaining prestigious guests from the UEFA Champions League and the World Curling Championships amongst others in the main hall, which has the potential to seat 500 for a spectacular evening dinner or up to 1000 reception guests. 9 the burrell collection The dinner provided by Encore was superb as was the handling of the event as a whole, the service was flawless. Encore more than lived up to my expectations. As well as exhibiting the finest tapestry collection outside Paris, visitors can see art objects from Iraq, Egypt, Greece and Italy. This award winning building displays a fine collection of furniture, textiles, ceramics, medieval European sculptures, drawings and a stunning collection of stained glass. The Burrell Restaurant is situated on the lower ground floor of the collection in a magnificent glassed roof structure that offers a fine view of the extensive wooded grounds of Pollok Country Park. This provides a backdrop for a marquee event for up to The Burrell Collection has a number of hospitality uses and can be flexibly arranged to suit most requirements. There is also access to a fully audiovisual 180 seated lecture theatre within the collection.

Situated in Royal Exchange Square in the heart of Glasgow, the Gallery of Modern Art houses a fine collection of lively national and international exhibits from the world of modern art. Previously home to the Stirling s Library, the building has a neo-classical exterior with contemporary interior. GOMA is the second most visited contemporary art gallery outside London. It offers a thought-provoking programme of temporary exhibitions and workshops. GOMA displays work by local and international artists. It also addresses contemporary social issues through its major biannual projects. The building was refurbished to house the city s contemporary art collection in 1996 and is an appealing combination of old and new architecture. It incorporates a number of artists commissions. Having enthralled and inspired several million visitors since opening, the Gallery continues to evolve, adding to its collection and hosting thought provoking exhibitions on a regular basis and is ideal for hosting buffets and receptions for up to 150 guests.

The Lord Provost s guests have ranged from members of the Royal Family and Ambassadors, to church centenaries and voluntary organisations. St Mungo's Museum of Religious Life and Art is a unique museum dedicated to religion and how it is interpreted and communicated in art. Situated in the beautiful concourse of Glasgow Cathedral near the medieval Provand's Lordship house and adjacent to the Victorian splendour of the world renowned Glasgow Royal Infirmary, the museum offers visitors the chance to see Glasgow's multi-cultural heritage at its very best. The museum is home to a fascinating collection of artifacts illustrating all the world s major religions. The museum has a contemporary styled function suite which overlooks the Japanese Gardens and is also fully licensed for hosting civil marriage ceremonies. This venue provides flexible accommodation for between 80 to 120 guests.

The Tall Ship is one of Glasgow s most enduring riverside attractions. Built on Clydeside in 1896 and named the Glenlee, the Tall Ship began life as a cargo vessel and circumnavigated the world four times before her return to Glasgow where she was restored by Clyde Maritime Trust in The ship is now a popular visitor attraction and function venue and will soon be moored alongside the new Riverside museum. Offering unrivalled views of the famous River Clyde, The Tall Ship provides a unique and historical venue for a wide range of formal and informal events based around four flexible hospitality areas capable of accommodating up to 250 reception and 150 banquet guests. 19 kibble palace at glasgow s botanic gardens What a fantastic evening! Encore's organisation and quality exceeded all expectations from start to finish. Mr & Mrs L Rafferty. This amazing building is one of the most prestigious iron and glass structures remaining from the Victorian era. Although the Kibble Palace is only available as a venue for educational and civic events, Encore is proud to provide services at this iconic Glasgow landmark. The building has a fascinating history, part of it having originally formed a conservatory at John Kibble s home at Coulport, Loch Long from the 1860 s to the early 1870 s. Kibble began dismantling his glasshouse in 1872 and it was taken up the Clyde by barge and by cart to the Botanic Gardens in Glasgow s West End where it was re-assembled and enlarged. For a few years afterwards it became a popular venue for musical concerts, public meetings, flower shows and a variety of other events including the installation of both Benjamin Disraeli and William Ewart Gladstone as rectors of the University of Glasgow in 1873 and 1879 respectively. The Kibble Palace is constructed of curvilinear wrought (malleable) iron and glass supported by cast iron beams resting on ornate columns, surmounted on masonry foundations. It is home to a marvellous collection of marble statues as well as temperate plants from around the world, including the national collection of Australasian tree ferns which have grown there for the last 120 years. The Kibble Palace is an important and unique glasshouse and takes the form of a large dome and rotunda connected to a smaller dome by a link corridor. The small dome forms the main entrance area and attached to the north and south are extended transepts.

21 the winter gardens at the people s palace A marvellous event organised by Encore at the Winter Gardens. It was a joy to work with a company that delivered all that was required, making the whole evening a complete success for our client. Opened in 1898, the People's Palace tells the rich story of Glasgow's heritage, its people, and its impact on the world from 1175 to the present day. The museum houses important collections relating to the tobacco and other industries as well as the fantastic historical and political recollections of the temperance, woman's suffragette and socialist movements. Glasgow's popular past is brought to life with gritty realism in this fine collection. The People's Palace is also home to the fabulous Winter Gardens. Here, visitors can enjoy refreshments amidst a collection of wonderfully exotic and rare plants and trees from every corner of the world. The Winter Gardens is a unique location that is ideally suited to weddings, formal dinners, product launches or drinks receptions for between 240 to 350 guests.

Queen s Park is a beautiful Paxton creation which offers something for everyone, from manicured lawns and bedding areas for the gardening enthusiast to peaceful naturalised walks rich in wildlife. Located near the main walkway are an oak tree planted by Belgian refugees after the war and a beech tree which commemorates the 20th Anniversary of the founding of the United Nations in The Nursery and Display House can cater for up to 100 dinner guests and offers an unusual and stunning venue, be it a conference, product launch, banquet, wedding or any kind of party or celebration. This fabulous structure houses a Zen garden, ponds, tropical fish, exotic birds and an excellent reptile house. It also has a fine collection of sub-tropical plants and many types of flowering and foliage plants all of which can be enjoyed by your guests, along with Encore s outstanding hospitality and service.
