3 1. Beauly / Denny SPT scope is: 20km of new 400/275kV overhead line, a major new substation at Denny and significant consequential works on 132kV and lower voltage assets New line is now complete and in service: 275kV circuit from Braco to Denny commissioned on 12 November kV circuit from Fort Augustus to Denny commissioned on 19th November 2015 Final Beauly Denny tower erected Wirescape and visual mitigation work will continue through to 2018: 15 km of 132kV tower lines will be undergrounded Multiple smaller visual mitigation projects, agreed with local stakeholders Project increases the transfer capability across the B4 boundary (SHETL to SPT) by approximately 1200 MW Denny substation 3

South West Scotland Phase 1: 275kV Coylton New Cumnock: OHL and substation construction complete Commissioning planned for Q Phases 2 to 4: Progress being made on discharge of pre-construction conditions: Routes B and C - 100% D&G Council, 85% EAC Council. Expecting complete 12/ 2015 Route D 23% D&G Council, 0% EA Council. Expecting complete 02/ 2016 Land agreements in place for 65% of OHL routes, agreements in principle reached with landowners for remaining 35% Planning applications made for 5 quarries, decisions on 4 due in November, 1 in December. Leases to be concluded. Quarries required to be operational by end Jan Substations: Leases concluded for Dunhill and Blackhill substations. Heads of Terms agreed for Blackcraig Access issues for Glenglass to be resolved Land purchase agreed for Margree. Servitudes outstanding with 2 access road landowners Tree cutting, overhead line and numerous substation contracts in place Largest project by spend in SPT 2016 investment programme Coylton 275kV Substation New 275kV overhead line, Coylton to New Cumnock 4

5 2. South West Scotland Key Dates Dec 2015: Discharge remaining consent conditions stages 2 & 3 and D&G area of stage 4 Jan 2016: Commence OHL Construction works including quarry operations. Feb 2016: Discharge remaining consent conditions EAC area of stage 4. Q1 2016: Commence substation construction works at Blackhill / Glenglass and Margree collector sites. Q1 2016: Commission stage 1 OHL and New Cumnock substation. Q3 2016: Connection of Dersalloch Windfarm. Q1 2017: Stage 2 OHL works complete and connection of Brockloch Rig Windfarm. Q2 2017: Stage 3 and 4 OHL works complete. Q2 2017: Complete Blackhill / Glenglass and Margree collector sites. Q2/Q3 2017: Commission Afton / Pencloe / Whiteside Hill / Ulzieside / Margree and Blackcraig windfarms. 5

6 3. 3.3GW Interconnector Upgrade Installation of capacitors at 4 substation sites increases Scotland/England interconnection capacity, with minimal overhead line work from 2.8GW to 3.3GW Three installations now complete and commissioned Elvanfoot, Windyhill and Moffat substations Interconnection capacity increased to circa 3.1GW Final site at advanced stage of completion Longannet substation Installation complete, commissioning in progress Fully operational early 2016, subject to outage availability Elvanfoot MSCDN 6

Series Compensation and East/West Upgrade (4.4GW) Increases Scotland/England interconnection capacity by 1.1GW through installation of 4 Series Compensation units at 3 sites and raising the operational voltage on the main overhead line through the Central Belt from 275kV to 400kV Series Compensation: Construction of all 4 units now complete West Coast units (Moffat and Gretna) available for operation by end 2015 East Coast units (Eccles) to be commissioned in Q due to outage constraints East/West 400kV Upgrade: Overhead line re-conductoring between Strathaven and Wishaw complete Construction of new 400kV substation nearing completion commissioning planned for early January 2016 Eastern section of upgrade affected by outage constraints and land agreements for new cables to Torness. Expected to complete October 2016 Moffat Series Compensation Unit Wishaw 400kV GIS switchgear 7

8 6. Western Link HVDC and Hunterston Kintyre Western Link HVDC: Increases Scotland s import and export capacity by 2.2GW Construction of convertor station at Hunterston progressing well. Main buildings nearing completion ahead of plant installation from early kV GIS at convertor already installed 400kV GIS substation at Hunterston East (connection point for HVDC and H-K links) commissioned Nov 2015 Deep sea cable laying underway first 118km campaign to complete early December Working towards commissioning of link in Summer 2017 Hunterston to Kintyre Subsea Link (SPT element): 220kV AC link between Crossaig, Kintyre and Hunterston Cables installed and tested. Substation construction at both ends now complete. First circuit due to be operational 12 / 2015 with second following on 01/

Dumfries and Galloway Strategic Reinforcement Project First round of public consultation on proposed overhead line route corridors and substation sites undertaken June to August 2015 Over 1600 responses received and currently being analysed. Report on consultation to be published in early Key themes include: underground and subsea alternatives, impact on visual amenity in areas distant from current line, localised concerns at a number of specific locations Timeline: Extensive engagement underway with stakeholders / elected officials Needs case under development for submission to Ofgem in early 2016 Second consultation round planned for summer 2016 Application for consents to be made 2019 Construction period from 2020 to
