5 R COMFORT IS PARAMOUNT GREAT ENTERTAINMENT Leisureplex hotels have entertainment at least four evenings and up to six evenings per week. All our hotels are large enough to provide both cosy relaxing lounge areas where you can enjoy a tranquil glass of wine and fabulous entertainment rooms where you can take a spin around the dance floor or enjoy the cabaret. We were very, very impressed by the high standards of the staff, and the hotel.. FABULOUS DINING Good food is at the heart of a Leisureplex break. Well appointed dining rooms are the perfect backdrop for pleasurable meal times. For a more relaxed dining experience, all guests are allocated individual times and all meals are waiter service, leaving you to sit back and leisurely choose your next course from our extensive set menus. We serve a traditional British breakfast each morning and light snacks and bar meals are available at lunch times (packed lunches are also available on request). In the evening, enjoy our substantial menus which offer plenty of choice and a selection of wines. If you have a special dietary request then we can cater for most needs. 5

There are many Victorian and Edwardian terraces interspersed with colourful parks and gardens. Attractions include the magnificent Grand Pier, a Sea Life centre, dancing at the famous Winter Gardens and top class cabaret and big star names performing at the Playhouse theatre. Weston is close to the historic cities of Bath and Bristol and the resort s position, nestling between the Mendip Hills and the Bristol Channel, means there is some lovely scenery and many opportunities for rambling and water sports. TOWN CENTRE The town centre has a pedestrianised High Street and indoor Sovereign Shopping Centre. Intriguing antiques, books and craftworks are amongst Weston s narrow side streets. Bristol city centre is just half an hour away. BEACH & GARDENS The resort s beach and gardens provide an excellent environment for relaxation with deckchairs, bowling lawns and music from the bandstands. Weston s clean, sandy beaches stretch over a mile along the recently remodelled seafront. Its gardens are well kept and are frequent contenders in the Britain in Bloom contest. The town nestles amongst the hills of Capstone and Hillsborough which overlook the picture perfect harbour. There are plenty of local shops and the regional centre, Barnstaple, with its remarkable Pannier Market, is a short drive away. Boat trips operate to magical Lundy Island and a trip to nearby Lynton and Lynmouth - the Little Switzerland of England - with their unique connecting water operated cliff railway is a must during your stay. TOWN CENTRE The town centre provides excellent shopping opportunities with its blend of well-known high street retailers and antique and gift shops. BEACH & GARDENS Near to the hotel are the famous Tunnels Beaches and the shingle and pebble beach at Wildersmouth. Further afield we find the breathtaking beaches of Woolacombe and Croyde. Ilfracombe has some delightful gardens, including Runnymede and Jubilee Gardens, as well as fabulous walks along the coastal path. The town is an ancient one - the new quay from which it takes its name dates back to the fifteenth century, when it was known as Towan Blystra. As well as being Britain s surfing capital, it offers wonderful cliff and beach walks, a picturesque harbour and a variety of activities including golf, squash, tennis, putting, bowls, surfing and even shark fishing! There are also hidden coves and atmospheric smugglers pubs which are a living reminder of the more colourful side of Cornwall s history. TOWN CENTRE Newquay has a good selection of both high street and local stores. Bank Street, Newquay s main high street, is mostly pedestrianised, with interesting alleyways housing little craft and antique shops. There is also a great variety of tea shops and cafés for a refreshing break. BEACHES Newquay beaches are numerous and varied. Tolcarne and Great Western are the most popular, with safe bathing and golden sand. Fistral beach is a surfer s paradise and hosts many national and international competitions each year. Its rocky headlands, bustling harbour and the remarkable quality of its light have made it a haven for artists and there are numerous exhibitions and a spectacular branch of the Tate Gallery overlooking Porthmeor beach. With exclusive boutiques and restaurants, St. Ives is a very fashionable seaside resort, visited by royalty and celebrities. Despite its popularity it still retains its old-world charm with innumerable antique and craft shops. In short, St. Ives is the perfect mixture of culture and outstanding natural beauty. TOWN CENTRE The streets of St. Ives are steep, narrow and winding, with a wealth of quaint shops and cosy tea-rooms. St. Ives is a magnet for artists, who flock here to catch the town s unique light and there are several galleries dotted around town. BEACH & GARDENS The town s beaches are extensive and varied with Porthmeor beach providing the surf and excitement whilst the quieter beaches at the Harbour, Porthminster and Carbis Bay, provide sheltered bathing. Located just outside the heart of the town, Trewyn Gardens regularly win Britain in Bloom awards for their incredible floral displays. Part of the Regina is particularly interesting as the home for three years of the poet, Elizabeth Barrett Browning. Torquay has been fashionable since Victorian times and is the former home of Elizabeth Barrett Browning as well as crime author Agatha Christie. It offers variety, day and night, from its bustling harbour and marina to its exclusive shops, sophisticated restaurants and bars. Torquay s spectacular modernised waterfront provides a continental atmosphere with its attractive cafes and shops, luxury yachts and beautiful footbridge across the inner harbour. TOWN CENTRE The heart of the town is the harbour which has many shops along its edges. The town is hilly but the location of the Regina Hotel is on the flat harbourside and the shops, promenade and Pavilion Theatre are all a level walk from here. BEACHES & GARDENS Torbay has excellent bathing beaches at Babbacombe, Torre Abbey and Paignton. Torre Abbey Gardens make a pleasant walk along the seafront from the hotel. Today it offers golden sands, colourful gardens and a bustling harbour side. Its two mile long promenade provides a range of activities from boating, amusements and crazy golf to dancing and entertainment at the Exmouth Pavilion. There are boat trips along the estuary and riverside pubs, as well as a miniature railway and Country Life centre. The coast from Exmouth to Dorset has been officially ranked alongside the Grand Canyon and Great Barrier Reef as one of the natural wonders of the world. TOWN CENTRE Exmouth has good shopping with an indoor market and a pedestrianised high street, as well as Georgian pubs and high quality restaurants serving a variety of local and international dishes. The newly developed yacht harbour and railway station are both within a few minutes walk of the Cavendish Hotel. BEACH & GARDENS Exmouth s sandy beach is directly across the road from the Cavendish Hotel. There are well kept parks just a short walk away, including the Strand Gardens and Manor Gardens, both well-known for their beautiful floral displays. Bournemouth s award-winning gardens include the Lower Gardens, Boscombe s Italianate Gardens, with Roman-style colonnades, and the Alum Chine gardens, which occupy a superb cliff-top position. Sandown became fashionable in the Victorian period and today remains the island s principal resort offering a wealth of entertainment. It has an excellent beach and is surrounded by a varied landscape of gentle downs and majestic cliffs. Other attractions include the pier, which is right in front of our hotel, Brown s Pleasure Park, the award-winning Big Cat Sanctuary and the Museum of Geology. Within walking distance is Shanklin s famous Chine, a dramatic fissure in the rock where a 45ft waterfall cascades through boulders and ferns to the shore. The medieval castle, originally Welsh but later taken and reinforced by the Normans, dominates the town. The castle headland divides the seafront into two with a pebbly bay to the west and a sheltered mainly sandy bay to the east. This area of Wales is ideal for walking, from the gentle rolling hills of the Llyn Peninsula in the west to the soaring majesty of Snowdonia in the east with delightful gardens and castles at every turn. Criccieth railway station provides a great way to visit Porthmadog or Pwllheli on the Cambrian line as well as giving an easy route to explore the world famous Ffestiniog and the recently completed Welsh Highland Railway. It is famous for its many golf courses including the world famous Royal Porthcawl. A rocky promontory with spectacular sea views separates the golf course from the main part of the town including the harbour and the expansive sandy beach to the east behind which lies a fairground with a variety of rides and amusements. There is an attractive high street with numerous shops and the fascinating Grand Pavilion offers theatre and a pleasant bar. There is good bathing from several beaches and the Atlantic swell ensures there is often excellent surfing. TOWN CENTRE The town centre is just a short walk from the hotel and has a variety of attractive shops. Nearby Bridgend offers a wide selection of shops and a designer outlet shopping mall. The striking Grand Pavilion was originally designed as a Palm Court but today offers a wide variety of top class entertainment including theatre, comedy, variety and musicals. Its pastel coloured buildings, narrow streets, fortified walls and the quality of the light from its shimmering bays give it an atmosphere which is reminiscent of the Mediterranean. Its medieval castle was bombarded into submission by Cromwell using artillery on both land and sea and the feeling of a town whose history is much richer than most seaside resorts is very strong as one ambles around the narrow streets. TOWN CENTRE Tenby is a town of narrow streets, small independent shops and a thriving indoor market. Take time for a drink in one of the many bars or cafés. The fifteenth century Tudor Merchants House museum gives an insight into life when it was a busy trading port. BEACH & GARDENS Tenby has four magnificent sandy beaches and a delightful harbour which is always busy with pleasure craft and the regular ferries which serve nearby Caldey Island. The gardens on the headland around the castle offer fabulous views and are ideal for a picnic. Pleasure cruises run throughout the summer months sailing to destinations ranging from Loch Goil to Largs and Rothesay. You may even catch the last sea-going paddle steamer in the world, the Waverley, which is still a regular visitor to Dunoon. Nearby sports facilities include an indoor swimming pool, bowling greens, tennis courts and golf courses. There is a cinema and in the season, a range of entertainment at the Queens Hall. The resort stages international jazz and dance festivals and hosts the Cowal Highland Gathering, the biggest highland games festival.
