3 Shoresearch The Wildlife Trusts' Shoresearch is a volunteer-based coastal recording project, identifying and recording animals, plants, and habitats across shores of the UK. In the North West, we undertake surveys across the shores of Cumbria, Lancashire, Merseyside and Cheshire. The aim of the project is to increase our knowledge and data on intertidal wildlife around our coast, and to help promote its conservation. Shoresearch is a great way to enjoy spending time outside and meeting like-minded people. You will learn about the amazing marine life of the Irish Sea and be part of the movement to protect these species and habitats. Volunteering can also add a lot to your CV! For further Information about The Wildlife Trusts' Shoresearch, please contact North West Wildlife Trusts on shoresearchnw@cumbriawlldlifetrust.org.uk North West WlldlifeTrusts Little Ducklings Monday 8 May Monday 10 July 10.30am - 12noon Calling all mini explorers and their accompanying adults! According to recent studies, billions of tiny plastic pellets, known as 'nurdles', are lost into the UK environment each year. These can significantly harm marine wildlife once they make it into the sea. We aim to collect vital evidence to add to existing data on the extent of the environmental impacts of all sources of marine plastic pollution.

Challenging and changing the perceptions of communities in the North West about the wildlife value of the Irish Sea and instilling in them a sense of responsibility to care about and act for its protection. ^Esmee Fairbairn Lancashire. Manchester & N Merseyside Working closely with local schools, we help children to explore their coastline by getting them out on the shore to investigate the huge diversity of marine life that can be found along the North West coast of England. We will be engaging with a wide range of people through family-focused activities at various locations along the Sefton and Fylde coasts, as well as carrying out a variety of marine life surveys to ensure that our amazing marine species are being looked after and recorded. All of these records are essential in our campaign work lobbying for more Marine Conservation Zones in the Irish Sea and protection and better management of our marine environment for the future.
