Foundation General Information Woodbury County Conservation has been hosting summer day camps since Our camps are designed to encourage hands-on learning through outdoor explorations, hiking, activities, games, crafts and more. Camps are led by full-time and seasonal naturalist staff and trained volunteers who will nurture your child s love of nature. Camp numbers are limited to ensure a fun learning experience. All sessions include outdoor explorations and hiking Daily snacks with drink are provided for all ages Ages 9 & up must bring their own bag lunch with drink Each camper will receive a camp T-shirt Explore Outdoors with Us! Registration -- We will begin accepting registrations: Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. for Woodbury County Conservation Foundation (WCCF) Members* Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. Non-member registration begins TO REGISTER: Complete a registration/camper information form for each child and enclose either a deposit OR full payment. Deposits are $20 per camp. Mail or drop off your registration forms with deposit or full payment to: Woodbury County Conservation, Attn: Theresa Kruid 4500 Sioux River Road, Sioux City, IA * We re sorry, but telephone & registrations cannot be accepted. Registrations are accepted in the order in which we receive them. This determines the order in which campers fill our available spaces. Please do not mail registration early; we will accept them starting with postmark date of April 6th as the earliest date. These will then be dated and all mail will be opened in the order we received it. Due to the popularity of our camps: 1. There is no guarantee that space will be available, even if you are a member. 2. Each child may attend one camp. If there are still openings available after May 15th you may register for additional camp sessions. 3. Please be patient with us, we register nearly 350 campers.

Cancellations: If a camper must cancel their reservation, please notify us as soon as possible.

The balance of the registration cost is refundable with 7 days or more notice.

Cancellations: If a camper must cancel their reservation, please notify us as soon as possible. This allows us to possibly fill the space from our waiting list. The $20 deposit is not refundable. The balance of the registration cost is refundable with 7 days or more notice. Scholarships: The Woodbury County Conservation Foundation provides a limited number of scholarships. For an application check the website at or Theresa Kruid at camps@sioux-city.org. These are based on availability and need. Application deadline is two weeks before your registered camp. * WCCF Membership: Any level Woodbury County Conservation Foundation Member receives early camp registration benefit and those at the Family Level ($35) or above also receive $5.00 off your total registration fees. WCCF membership details are on our website, under Donate CATERPILLARS: Ages 3-5 accompanied by an adult Cost is $30 Sessions are 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Limited to 12 child and adult teams Nature Buddies: June or August 3-4 Campers, bring your favorite adult along to explore the outdoors together. We ll wander the Nature Center trails, meet animal friends, share stories and create art. This is a great introduction to our camps and allows you to share the wonder of nature with your buddy.

We ll learn about the local plants and wildlife during our nature explorations and outdoor play. GRASSHOPPERS: Ages 5 & 6 All Sessions are 9:00 a.m. to Noon Each session is limited to 18 children. Children attend by themselves. Four-Day Camps Cost: $60 Frogs, Toads & Snakes: June or July 6-9 Campers will spend the week exploring the world of amphibians and reptiles. We ll play games, make crafts, hike the trails and even meet a few special guests. Kids are sure to discover everything that makes these creatures toad ally cool! Three-Day Camps Cost: $40 A Bugs Life: June 29 - July 1 or July Join us to discover the amazing life of a bug through outdoor explorations, games, crafts and hands-on activities. We ll spend our time investigating insects and their creepy crawly relatives like spiders, snails, and more. Follow Those Tracks: July We don t always see animals, but we know they re around by the clues they leave behind. Campers will become nature detectives as we look and listen for the animals hiding around us. Tracks, homes and other animal signs will help us discover what s outdoors. Questions? We ll explore outdoors, play games and uncover some amazing adaptations these animals have. Campers will spend one day at Stone State Park s Turtle Lake to learn about wetland predators and go fishing. Four-Day Camp Cost: $85 Ooh Ah Logy Camp: July ~ 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Campers will be oohed and ahhed during this amazing camp of fun sciences.geology, Entomology and Herpetology are just a few of ologys we ll discover. Trail explorations, games, activities, crafts and more will help in our investigations. Three-Day Camp Cost: $65 Nature s Survivors: July ~ 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. How would you survive in the wild? Campers will discover how local plants and wildlife use survival tactics daily. We ll even learn a few outdoor safety and survival tips ourselves.

BADGERS: Ages 11 & 12 Four-Day Camp Cost: $95 Wildlife Watch: June 8-11 ~ 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. These days will be packed full of exciting games, projects and activities as campers learn the basics of watching wildlife.

We ll even spend one day at Little Sioux Park, near Correctionville, for campers to experience canoeing and wetland explorations.
