1 June 14 (Tues.) A Tree in the Woods 9:00am 1:30pm $5 Travel with us to a tree farm and learn just what it takes to grow and harvest trees in Randolph County. We will tromp through wooded trails, learn some fun outdoor games and create a little art as well. We will have a tour and lunch at Millstone Orchard. **Meet at Extension Office. Wear closed toed shoes, dress comfortable, bring a water bottle, lunch and a drink. June 21 (Tues.) Wright Dairy Farm Tour 9:00am 2:00pm $5 See a working dairy farm in action! We will play games, visit and discuss what keeps the farm going and tour the facilities. We will finish the day with a picnic under the shade trees. **Meet at Extension Office (We can have 8 kids more meet us at the farm). Bring a bag lunch and drink. Wear sunscreen and closed toe shoes** June 15 (Wed.) Nature Walk 10:00am 2:00pm $5 Enjoy one of Randolph County s walking trails and explore Mother Nature. **Meet at Extension Office. Wear closed toed shoes, dress comfortable, bring a water bottle, lunch and a drink. ** MUST BE ABLE TO WALK 2 MILES.** June 16 (Thurs.) For The Birds 8:15am 1:30pm $15 Ages: 8+ Class: 20 Build and decorate your own bird feeder and bird house! We will have all the supplies you need to entice a new feathered friend into your yard. **Meet at Extension Office. Wear closed toe shoes. Bring a bag lunch and drink. Meet at Extension Office** Come join us for a summer of 4-H the Fun! Classes meet at Extension Office unless otherwise noted. June 22 (Wed.) Laser Tag 8:15am 1:30pm $25 Ages: 8+ Class: 80 Join us for almost TWO full hours of laser tag at LaserX in Archdale. We will wrap up the fun with a picnic lunch at Creekside Park. We can accommodate 30 people to ride with us from the Asheboro office and 50 more are welcome to meet us at LaserX. **Wear comfortable clothes, closed toe shoes and bring a bag lunch and drink.** June 23 (Thurs.) Escape Room 9:00am 1:00pm $30 Ages: 10+ Class: 10 Escape reality at Kersey Valley! It requires observation, teamwork, creativity, communication, and courage. You and your team have ONE hour to figure out how to get out of the room. There are last resort emergency exits but if you leave early the game is over for everyone. **Meet at Extension Office. Wear comfortable clothes, closed toe shoes and bring a bag lunch and drink.**

2 June 24 (Fri.) Camp Caraway 8:00am 1:00pm $25 Ages: 8+ Class: 60 Youth will enjoy a day of canoeing, wall climbing, swimming and outdoor fun! ** Meet at Camp Caraway ( ). Please wear tennis/water shoes, bring a towel and sunscreen, bag lunch and drink. NO SANDALS! Drinks and snacks will be provided** June 28 (Tues.) Bread Making Made Easy! 9:00am 1:00pm $10 Ages: Class: 10 Join us as we learn the basics of bread making yeast breads, biscuits and cornbread. Also learn about wheat from the fields to the table. **Meet at Extension Office. Wear closed toe shoes and long hair must be pulled back. Bring a good attitude** June 29 (Wed.) Biscuits & Jam 8:30am 1:00pm $10 Get a behind the scenes tour with the early risers at Biscuitville. See how they make their mouth watering biscuits and the ways they incorporate fresh and local produce in their menu. We will then come back to the office and Jam with Jody and Jill to make your very own jelly to go with those biscuits! **Meet at Extension Office. Wear closed toe shoes and long hair must be pulled back. Bring a bag lunch and drink** June 30 (Thurs.) Corn Daze! 9:00am 1:00pm $5 Ages: 8+ Class: 15 Did you know you can make ooey gooey fun out of corn products? Hang out with our Field Crops agent, Jon, and get your hands messy. We will also taste different varities of corn and let you be the judge on which is the best! **Meet at Extension Office. Wear closed toe shoes and long hair must be pulled back. Bring a bag lunch and drink** July 12 (Tues.) SWRHS & FFA Tour 9:00am 1:30 pm $5 Ages: 10+ Class: 12 Travel with us to Southwestern Randolph High School to tour their working farm built by their FFA. There will be a lot of hands on activities as well as some basic hunter safety with dummy guns. **Meet at Extension Office (EIGHT more kids can join us if they can meet at SWRHS and be picked up there). Wear closed toe shoes and sunscreen. Bring a bag lunch and drink** July 13 (Wed.) Put It Up! Food Preservation for Youth 9:00am 12:00pm $10 Ages: Class: 7 Learn the basics of food preservation so you can grow and preserve it to enjoy at a later time. **Meet at Extension Office. Wear closed toe shoes and long hair must be pulled back**

Sunset Theater and Rockin B Farms 9:15am 3:30pm $10 Let s take in a movie at the Historical Sunset Theater (movie TBA) and then travel to Rockin B Farms to meet some animals and experience how they keep their farm rockin. **Meet at Extension Office. Bring a bag lunch and a drink.** July 19 (Tues.) Gardening 11:00am 2:00pm $5 Ages: Rising 6 th & up Class: 12 Come join the Cooperative Extension for a fun filled day in our Demonstration Garden. Learn about fruits and vegetables in this hands on workshop. Designed to inspire participants to learn what it takes to grow healthy food crops and the steps our foods take on their way to the kitchen table. **Meet at Extension Office. Wear outdoor clothing that can get dirty, closed toe shoes NO SANDALS, hat and sunscreen Strongly Recommended. Bring a bag lunch, water and snacks will be provided. ** July 20 (Wed.) Put It Up! Food Preservation for Youth 9:00am 12:00pm $10 Ages: Class: 7 Learn the basics of food preservation so you can grow and preserve it to enjoy at a later time. **Meet at Extension Office. Wear closed toe shoes and long hair must be pulled back** July 21 (Thurs.) Plant The Seed & Do a Good Deed 9:00am 1:00pm $10 Learn how to cultivate your own garden while making your own flower pots to take home with a variety of plants. We will also learn how to take cuttings rather than just plant seeds. The students will learn from Trinity High School students how to take care of plants, tour the facilities, and learn why plants need as much care as they do. **Meet at Extension Office. EIGHT more kids can join us if they can meet at Trinity High School and be picked up there. Bring a lunch & a drink. Wear closed toe shoes** July 26 (Tues.) Paints and Pots 9:00am 3:30pm $40 Ages: 8+ Class: 15 We will explore our inner artist as we travel to Preppy Possum to create our own special painting. We will also visit a local pottery and take the wheel to create our own pot. **Meet at Extension Office. Bring a bag lunch & drink. (Postage for mailing pottery when it comes back is included in the price)** July 27 (Wed.) 4 July 28 (Thurs.) Homeland Creamery 9:00am 2:00pm $10 Homeland Creamery in Julian is family owned and operated by Bowman Farms. They have been raising Holstein cows on the same homestead that they have operated the dairy since the 1930 s. The herd has now grown to over 200 cows both Holstein and Jersey. We will enjoy a hayride, learn about milking cows and tour the milking parlor and enjoy an ice cream snack! **Meet at Extension Office. EIGHT more kids can join is if they can meet at Homeland Creamery and be picked up there. Bring a lunch & a drink.** August 2 (Tues.) Sunny Slopes 9:45am-2:00pm $10 Enjoy the great out of doors and see animals up close and personal. We will take a ride along the property and enjoy the scenic view. Take in 220 acres of pastures, streams and woodlands. Pan for gold without the worry of the gold rush drama! Be careful not to fall in love with Sunny Slopes, we are only here for the day. **Meet at Extension Office. Bring a bag lunch and a drink. EIGHT more kids can join IF they can meet at Sunny Slopes and be picked up there** August 3 (Wed.) Millstone Camp 8:30am 4:00pm $40 Ages: 10+ Class: 20 Join us for a day of fun and adventure at Millstone Camp. This day long event will offer instruction from certified camp staff with kayaking, archery and pool time included too. **Meet at Extension Office. Bring a bag lunch and drink, swimsuit, sunscreen, towel, wear closed toed shoes **NO SANDALS** August 9 (Wed.) Rodeo Roundup! Meet a real life PBR bull rider, Jerome Davis! We will visit his Ranch in Archdale and learn about his career, his farm and what it takes for a bull to be good enough to ride! **Meet at Extension Office (We can have EIGHT more Join us at Davis Ranch). Bring a lunch and drink. Snacks and Water will be provided. Wear closed toe shoes** August 9 (Wed.) Topsy Turvy Teracottas Get in touch with your creative side! Paint and design a terracotta pot plant stand. We will plant a flower and learn how it grows. **Meet at Extension Office. Bring a bag lunch and drink. Snacks and water will be provided** August (Fri & Sat) Zoo Snooze 5:15pm 9:00am $50 Ages: 7-12 Class: 17 THIS IS AN OVERNIGHT ADVENTURE! Safari Snooze: This Zoo snooze is a unique opportunity to learn about our giant pachyderms, striped equines and ungulates, as we discover the importance of the African Savanna. Checking out an elephant hide and a rhino horn are just a couple of the ways we will get to know more about these animals and their role in this special ecosystem. This Zoo snooze also provides handson activities to learn about African culture. We will take a behind-the-scenes tour of either the giraffe or rhino barn. We will have the opportunity to meet with a zookeeper, visit the inside of one of the barns, and see the "residents" up close. (Barn selection will be determined by Zoo staff.) **Meet at Extension Office. There is additional paperwork REQUIRED for this event and once registration has been confirmed 4-H staff will provide you with an information packet**

5 August (T,W,Thurs.) 4-H Find Out 10:00am 3:00pm $15 **This is a THREE day class (please only sign up if you can attend all three days)** What is 4-H?! Have you ever wondered what you can do in 4-H? This workshop will give you the opportunity to explore many areas that 4-H offers. Whether you like animals, science or health and fitness, 4-H has something for you! **Meet at Extension Office. Bring a Lunch and Drink. Snacks and water will be provided** August 19 (Fri.) Ice Cream Social 6:30pm 8:00pm $1 Ages: All Ages Bring the family for an ice cream sundae and learn more about 4-H. Learn about the different clubs available in Randolph County, we bet we have one for you!

We will talk about ways to stay fit and healthy while completing an obstacle course. **Please bring a bag lunch and drink and a water bottle** June 16 (Thurs) Manners Please Children will learn and practice using good manners as we have an early pizza Lunch. **Please pack a snack and a drink** Children will bake, create, and enjoy cupcakes. **Please bring a bag lunch and drink** June 23 (Thurs) PJ s and Movie Day Children are encouraged to bring a comfy blanket and/or pillow. 7 June 29 (Wed) Cup Puppets Making friends made out of cups with opportunities to create our own puppet show. **Please bring a bag lunch and drink** July 14 (Thurs) Rocks Rock We will rock the day away with a rock show, rock hunt and make pet rocks. **Please bring a bag lunch and drink** June 30 (Thurs) Patriot Day Children will make and eat patriotic snacks as we discuss what it means to be patriotic. 10 REGISTRATION: Registration is open to all Randolph County youth. You may register at the NC Cooperative Extension Office, Randolph County Center, 112 W. Walker Ave from 8:30am to 4:45pm after May 21, Registrations will NOT be taken over the phone, but we will be happy to answer any questions at Make checks payable to Randolph County 4-H. CODE OF CONDUCT/MEDICAL RELEASE FORM: These forms are REQUIRED. Please Note: The medical release forms must be notarized! A Notary will be available during registration hours. Notarized forms must be returned to the 4-H program no less that two working days before the activity for the child to participate. For your convenience you may download these forms to bring with you by visiting our website at: FEE: The fee for each class covers all expenses, transportation, insurance, and program cost unless otherwise noted in the description. Refunds will ONLY be made if the class is cancelled by our office. TIME AND LOCATION: Activities will be held at the Extension Office unless otherwise noted; trips will also depart and return to this location. IN ADDITION: An ice chest will be provided when participants are asked to bring a bag lunch and drink. Please do not send any ELECTRONICS or other valuables with your child, including cell phones. If participants choose to bring spending money for souvenirs on trips, they are responsible for it, and any purchases. For all trips and activities, Randolph County 4-H, its staff and volunteers, are not responsible for sunburn or insect bites and will not administer either sunscreen or insect repellant. Parent/Guardian is responsible for applying these protective agents. All events operate under the 4-H Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Procedure which is a condition of participation in 4-H events and activities. We reserve the right to suspend your child from the program without a refund should he/she become disruptive and/or violate the 4-H Code of Conduct in any way. If a child is dismissed from the program, then the parent/guardian or your designee must pick the child up immediately.
