1 INSIDE: Offsite Activities Hi Tech and Trades Meet Cory AJ2019 Merch Store

2 AJ2019 Woodhouse Activity Centre AJ2019 is JAM PACKED with adventure and fun! We have a full schedule of on-site and off-site activities ranging from testing your limits, challenging your teamwork skills, learning a trade, and so much more! In this month's edition of 'The JAM', we explore the offsite activities, and the TechHaus and Trade activity sites. AJ2019 has three full day offsite activities - Woodhouse Activity Centre - experience an overnight stay full of Scouting traditions at Woodhouse, South Australia's premier campsite. Metro Mania - explore Adelaide and it's attractions, then head to Glenelg or Port Adelaide for even more fun! Wet 'n Windy - a range of water activities on a private marina, only 15 minutes from the main Jamboree site. You will travel by bus to each offsite activity from the main Jamboree site, so make sure you know what time you know you'll leave! Metro Mania You'll need to know what to take to each activity, so make sure to double check your Jamboree Handbook before you leave the main Jamboree site. Our activity teams are busy working to polish their plans, and are looking forward to seeing you all in January 2019 at their activity sites. Wet 'n Windy Adelaide has a bunch of 'secret tunnels' underneath the CBD, including an underground subway, tunnels between government buildings and bunkers. Adelaide is known as the 'City Of Churches', as South Australia was the only state not settled by convicts, therefore having religious freedoms the other states didn't originally have. The 'Stobie Pole' was invented in Adelaide in 1924, as an alternative for wooden power line poles, constructed from two steel beams and concrete. Stobie Poles are used throughout South Australia, and in some places in other states.

3 WOODHOUSE ACTIVITY CENTRE An overnight expedition within the Jamboree! Scouts will head off to Scouts SA s famous Woodhouse Activity Centre campsite for a full 24 hour period where they will engage in back to basics camping and focus on activities like pioneering, navigation, camping, lightweight cooking and problems solving. Here's a list of some of the activities you'll get to do while at Woodhouse Activity Centre: Bouldering Wall Magnificent Maze Orienteering Courses Challenge Hill Human Foosball Climbing Wall Abseiling High Ropes Low Ropes Archery Tag Target Archery Pioneering Battle Pioneer Commando Course Darts Giant Jenga Bowling Sideshow Alley Nerf Wars Mario Karts Giant Connect 4 Laser Tag Flying Fox Inflatable Obstacle Course Hungry Hippo Campcraft Village Tubby Slide We can't guarantee that you'll get to do and see everything, but you'll have an absolute blast doing the activities that you do. You'll feel right at home at Woodhouse Activity Centre, as it's well loved by Scouts from all across Australia. Woodhouse Activity Centre is owned by Scouts SA, and is used every day of the year! It is home to hundreds of Scout Camps each year, but not just Scouts use Woodhouse Activity Centre... Woodhouse also hosts weddings, corporate events, day visits, birthday parties, school camps, the list goes on! 4 METRO MANIA This is your chance to explore the very best of Adelaide, South Australia's capital city, and have the opportunity to see the sights. We have an action packed day planned to entertain over 1000 excited Scouts each day! You'll have time to explore Adelaide, and visit a range of interesting and unique attractions. You will then have the choice to end your day at either Pt Adelaide, a town steeped in maritime history or at Glenelg for a more low key afternoon exploring the beachside town. Adelaide isn't just for Scouts on Jamboree, South Australia has a lot to offer to parents for a relaxing getaway in January visit southaustralia.com tips on how to enjoy your holiday. Roads in the Adelaide CBD change names after crossing King William Street, because you don't cross a king. For example, Flinders Street becomes Franklin Street. South Australia is one of only 3 places in the world where Cola products are available but not the most popular drink. Instead, Farmers Union Iced Coffee is the most consumed beverage. 5 WET 'N WINDY Get your bathers on (or togs, or cossie on) and hit the water with a range of activities at the Wet 'n Windy! Set on the quiet waterfront of the Wellington Marina, we have unrestricted access to a wonderful privately owned piece of Murray River real-estate. This site has lush green grass, substantial onsite facilities and most importantly lots of water access with little\no other water traffic. Here you ll get crazy on the water building rafts, rowing, dragon boats, swimming and learning about the local Murray River ecosystem. There's plenty to do on dry land too, so you'll always have something to do! Here's a list of some of the activities you'll get to do while at Wet 'n Windy! 6 GOING HI TECH! Appealing to the inner nerd in most year olds, the Technology House is set to provide exciting demonstrations from the like of local universities, defence, industry and maker spaces. You can expect to see cutting edge robotics, computer programming, drone construction and flying, virtual and augmented reality, radio communications and lots of other very techie type stuff. Hi Tech is a half day activity, so you'll have time to try out a couple techy activities. Here are some of the things you'll do at Hi Tech at AJ2019: Amateur Radio Multimedia Masterclass Build a Drone Mobile App Development MakerSpace Robotics Photography Workshop Electronics LEARN A TRADE The Trades activity site will have a number of hands on come and try' type activities that will provide a taste for of a number of trades and each site will teach the Scouts a little something that they ll be able to apply when they get home. Rich and unknown sounds wonderful Would you rather win an Academy Award or an Olympic Gold Medal? When I can fly I m sure I ll win an Olympic Gold medal
