2 ACTIVITIES Snowmobiling A 1,200 mile network of snowmobile trails radiate in every direction from Brainerd, making the Brainerd Lakes Area one of the upper Midwest s premier snowmobiling destinations. Ride the 110 mile Paul Bunyan Trail to Bemidji, or venture off one of the other groomed trails. The famous Gull Lake Lighted Trail will guide you on your night excursions. Cross Country Skiing The Brainerd Lakes Area offers a scenic 240 miles of groomed and non-groomed cross-country ski trails. Thousands of skiers enjoy these trails every winter. There are even lighted trails for night skiing, which means you won t need to quit just when your skis get warmed up Paul Bunyan Trail Over 90 miles of paved trail winds past 21 lakes, four rivers and many streams on its 110-mile journey north from Brainerd to Bemidji. Enjoy hiking, biking, in-line skating, and in the winter, snowmobiling. Downhill Skiing Down hill skiing and snowboarding is Fun in Brainerd Minnesota! The excitement begins on Thursday, November 26, 2009 (Thanksgiving Day!). Winter Wonderland will be open Wednesday through Saturday from 6:00-9:00 pm. through 1/2/10. The Holiday Village, featuring Santa Claus and concessions, will be open Thursday, November 26 and then on Friday and Saturday nights through December 26 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Gull Lake Frozen Fore - March 5-7, 2010 The Gull Lake Frozen Fore is a winter fest held at area resorts and restaurants on Gull Lake. At each of our 9 locations (Bar Harbor, Cragun s, Ernie s on Gull, Grand View Lodge, Kelly s, Matty s, Quarterdeck, Zorbaz on Gull and Hole in the Day Bay) you ll partake in a family-friendly winter activity such as sledding, shooting hockey pucks, golfing in the snow, and snow bowling. Then jump on your snowmobile or shuttle to your next location. Polar Bear Plunge - March 6, 2010 Take the plunge into Pelican Lake to support Special Olympics. A costume contest is part of this event, organized by Minnesota Law Enforcement.
