1 Open Up to Winter Wonder! Winter in Snohomish County brings cold temperatures, snow in the mountains, and gorgeous, frost-covered landscapes. If you re adventurous, brave the cold and enjoy the snow! Hit the slopes for a variety of fun snow sports throughout the county, or enjoy unique opportunities to see wildlife up close with winter-exclusive bald eagle float tours. Just 50 miles east of Everett is Stevens Pass, a fully equipped ski area offers a variety of terrain for downhill skiers of all levels. Just five miles from the downhill skiing area the Stevens Pass Nordic Center offers 15 miles of wide groomed trails for all cross-country skiing abilities, combining traditional tracked trails and skating lanes. Snowmobilers will find amazing country roads just off Highway 2 near Sultan and Index. 4 Where the Wild Things Are It might seem counterintuitive, but one of the best times of year for wildlife viewing in Snohomish County is during winter it s an especially good time to see majestic bald eagles in their natural environment. Wintertime rafting trips in the Snohomish and Skagit River Basins provide ample opportunity to see eagles in a safe and exciting setting.
