1 Tour: Date: Peru at a Gance Superior (PPPPAGS) 21 September 2017, 8 Days DAY 1: ARRIVE LIMA Upon your arriva to Lima you wi be wecomed at the airport and escorted to your hote by our guide and private transporta on. No ac vi es. The city of Lima, aso known as the City of Kings, was founded by Francisco Pizarro on January 18, 1535 on the right bank of the Rímac river because of the exceent strategic and geographic condi ons of this vaey. Lima, whose name comes from the Quechua word Rímac, which transated into Spanish means taker, began its rapid growth amidst the tes monies of the mienary cutures that deveoped in the en re area. During the Viceroyship of the 16th and 17th centuries, Lima became the most important and powerfu metropois in Spanish America, and the cutura and commercia centre of the region. However, in 1821, foowing a series of intense poi ca movements, Genera San Mar n procaimed the independence of Peru, beginning the Repubican period of the country. Today, Lima is a modern city that offers a wide array of a rac ons dispaying its historic richness with many museums, tradi ona quarters, restaurants, handicra s gaeries and nightife. 2 car and Engish speaking guide to the airport for your flight to Cusco. Upon arriva in Cusco, you wi transfer to the hote with private car (without a guide). In the a ernoon, Haf Day Cusco city tour and nearby ruins in SHARED services with shared Engish speaking guide. Fee incuded to Cathedra, Koricancha and nearby ruins. In the a ernoon, you wi be picked up from your hote for a city tour of Cusco, star ng at the Main Square. Known in Inca mes as Hucaypata or The Warriors Square, this was the scene for many key events in Cusco s history. You visit the Cathedra, buit between 1560 and 1664 with arge stones of red granite taken from the Inca Fortress of Sacsayhuaman, and the Koricancha Tempe, the most important tempe dedicated to the worship of the sun. A erwards, we wi con nue to the ruins above Cusco: Kenko, Pucapucara, Tambomachay and the Sacsayhuaman Fortress, an imposing exampe of Inca miitary architecture. The Sacsayhuaman Fortress was buit using arge sabs of granite to safeguard the city from An s a acks or invading forces from the east. One of the most pecuiar features of this site are the huge stones of up to 6 m, which fit in perfecty one on another. A er the excursion, you wi return to your hote. Overnight in Cusco. Meas: Breakfast DAY 3: SACRED VALLEY OF THE INCAS AGUAS CALIENTES The Sacred Vaey excursion is a shared service with an Engish speaking guide. A er the tour, you wi take the Inca Rai train services towards Aguas Caientes town. You wi visit the Sacred Vaey incuding its market, which a racts thousands of visitors and peope from remote communi es, dressed in coourfu, tradi ona a re. In the a ernoon, you wi visit the Oantaytambo Ruins, named in honour of the chief Oanta, who was famous for cour ng an Inca Princess

3 daughter of Pachacutec. One of its best preserved areas, known as Hanan Hucaypata, ies north of the main square and contains 15 states buit with eeganty cra ed stone waks. Overnight in Aguas Caientes Meas: Breakfast, unch. DAY 4: AGUAS CALIENTES MACHU PICCHU AGUAS CALIENTES CUSCO In the morning, your oca Engish speaking guide wi pick you up and take you to the sta on where you wi take the bus to Machu Picchu (30 minutes aprox). You wi have a guided tour of the ruins in private services with oca Engish speaking guide (3 hours of guided visit). A er the excursion, you wi take the bus down and the Inca Rai train back to Cusco. Upon arriva, you wi transfer to your hote in private transporta on. In the morning, you wi transfer to the train sta on and take the Inca Rai train to Aguas Caientes town. The train journey takes around three hours. Upon arriva, you wi con nue by bus towards Machu Picchu. You wi enjoy a visit to Machu Picchu, a UNESCO Word Heritage Site and New Seven Word Wonder, with your private oca guide. Buit by the Incas in the 15th century, Machu Picchu was ony discovered by Europeans in 1911, by the exporer Hiram Bingham. The citade is considered to be one of the most extraordinary exampes of andscapes

4 architecture in the word. Perched on an encave on the sadde of a mountain it overooks the deep canyon of the Urubamba River in an area of ush tropica forest. The site served as a pace of worship, star gazing and a private hacienda of the famiy of the Inca Pachacutec. It consists of two main areas, one agricutura, formed mainy by mountains and food stores, and the other urban, which is noted for its sacred zone with its tempes, squares and roya tombs. The stairways and canas carved out of stone are recurrent throughout this remarkabe archaeoogica site. A er the tour, you wi board the shu e bus back to Aguas Caientes where you wi take the Inca Rai train to Cusco. Upon arriva, transfer to the hote with private car (guide not incuded for the transfer). Overnight in Cusco Meas: Breakfast, unch. DAY 5: CUSCO PUERTO MALDONADO At estabished me, you wi transfer to the airport for your flight to Puerto Madonado. From here, you wi start you adventure in the junge. Suggested programme: We wi wecome you at the airport and drive you ten minutes to our Puerto Madonado headquarters. Whie enjoying your first taste of the rainforest in our gardens, we wi ask you to pack ony the necessary gear for your next few days and eave the rest at our safe deposit. This heps us keep

5 the boats and cargo ight. You wi transfer from Puerto Madonado Headquarters to Tambopata River Port, entering the Na ve Community of Infierno. You wi take the boat to the Community s Primary Forest Reserve in Posada Amazonas. You wi enjoy a packed unch onboard the boat. The odge manager wi wecome you upon arriva and brief you with important naviga on and security ps. Canopy Tower: A 20 minute wak from Posada Amazonas eads to the 30 metre scaffoding canopy tower. A bannistered staircase running through the midde provides safe access to the pa orms above. From atop you obtain spectacuar views of the vast expanses of standing forest cut by the Tambopata River winding through the midde. Now and then toucans, parrots or macaws are seen flying against the horizon, or mixed species canopy flocks and in the treetop next to you. DAY 6: PUERTO MALDONADO Tres Chimbadas Oxbow Lake Tres Chimbadas is 30 minutes by boat and 45 minutes hiking from Posada Amazonas. Once there, you wi padde around the ake in a catamaran,

6 searching for the resident famiy of nine giant river o ers (seen by 60% of our ake visitors) and other akeside widife such as caiman, hoatzin and horned screamers. O ers are most ac ve from dawn to eight or nine AM. Parrot Cay Lick: This cay ick is ony a 20 minute wak from Posada Amazonas. From a bind ocated about twenty meters away you wi see dozens of parrots and parakeets descend on most cear mornings to ingest the cay on a river bank. Species such as meay and yeow headed amazon, bue headed parrot and dusky headed parakeet descend at this cay ick. The cay ick is ac ve at dawn, during the ate mornings and mid a ernoons. Lunch. Ethnobotanica Tour: A 20 minute boat ride downriver eads you to a trai designed by the staff of the Centro Ñape. The Centro Ñape is a communa organisa on that produces medicines out of forest pants and administers them to pa ents who visit their cinic. They have produced a trai which expains the different medicina (and other) uses of seected pants. Dinner Overnight in Posada Amazonas Meas: Breakfast, unch, dinner. DAY 7: PUERTO MALDONADO LIMA At appropriate me you wi be transferred to the airport to board your flight back to Lima. Upon arriva you wi be transferred to the seected hote. No ac vi es. Overnight in Lima. Meas: Breakfast. DAY 8: LIMA OUT The best way to enjoy Lima and its history. Our excursion offers Lima s best a rac ons in its three historica periods: pre Hispanic, coonia and modern. Shared services. 7 Ancestra Lima: The tour starts with a panoramic view of the Pucana Pyramid a magnificent ceremonia and archeoogica centre buit in the 4th century A.D. and considered a sacred viage by the Incas. Coonia Lima: You wi then visit the Historica Centre of Lima, where you wi appreciate more than 50 monuments and coonia buidings, such as the Paseo de a Repúbica, the San Mar n Square, the Main Square, the Government Paace, the Archbishop s Paace, the Cathedra Basiica, and the City Counci Paace amongst others. You wi then visit the Museum of the Banco Centra De Reserva*, where we wi admire the Treasures of Perú Coec on, a fine seec on of objects made of god, ceramics and tex es from different pre coumbian cutures. You wi aso visit the monumenta San Francisco Convent, which dispays the argest coec on of reigious art in the Americas. The underground vauts are a highight, known as Catacumbas or Catacombs.
