You will be equipped with a list of names and descriptions of foods you will encounter to help you enjoy this visit even more. You will end this morning with a Class about how to make Ceviche and also Pisco sour ( National Beverage) at the end of this great time you will enjoy lunch in one of the traditional Lima s restaurant el Bolivariano. After Lunch time Visit downtown at City of the Kings, the most important American city during colonial times. Take a walk around the Main Square, where you can find Presidential Palace, the Cathedral, the Archbishop s Palace and Metropolitan City Hall, beautiful buildings, all full of history and tradition. Then, go all over San Francisco Monastery, probably the most spectacular church of colonial Lima, housing the catacombs and a very fine museum of religious art from the XVII century. 2 June 08 th : Lima to Cusco After Breakfast at Lima s Hotel your private transportation and your transfer man will take you over Lima s Airport for boarding a flight to Cusco where your private will be waiting for you for discovering the best of the Sacred Valley of the Incas through this route starting on the Inca's Balcony, a beautiful terrace with an impressive view of Chinchero, where twelves families still preserve their traditional costumes, showing you the ancestral way in which they process the wool, and obtain those vivid colors for their textiles. Today you will enjoy a great lunch experience with a Picnic Lunch deluxe with a majestic view of some of the snow Cap Mountains in this area. Afterwards, we will get to Ollantaytambo, one of the most monumental architectural complexes of the ancient Inca Empire, one of the few places where the Spanish conquistadors lost a major battle. Very well known for its andenes (terraces dug into the slopes of mountains for agricultural purposes), Ollantaytambo was a highly effective fortress that also served as a temple. Then, we will follow to the town of Ollantaytambo, the unique living Inca town : the best surviving example of Inca city planning, with narrow cobblestone streets that have been continuously inhabited since the 13th century. June 10 th : Sacred Valley to Machupicchu Today is finally the day for discovering one of the new seven wonder of the world, your day start after early breakfast with a transfer at Ollantaytambo train station for boarding Vistadome train to Aguas Calientes (city where hotel facilities are located) then board a bus that drives you to the actual Machu Picchu archeological site, where you will definitely have an experience you will never forget. After your guided tour you will have extra time for discovering this magic place by your own. At the agreed upon hour, you will have lunch at SANCTUARY lodge, afterwards return to town and check in at your hotel. 3 June 11 th : Machupicchu by your own Day at leisure Overnight: Overnight at El Mapi by Inkaterra Superior Deluxe Meals: Breakfast June 12 th : Machupicchu to Cusco You will board train back to Cusco (Vistadome service to Ollantaytambo). At Ollantaytambo train station your guide will be waiting for transfer to Cusco. Rest of the day by your own in Cusco. Overnight: San Agustin Plaza Hotel 3.5 * Standard Room * June 13 th : Exploring Cusco After Breakfast you will spend half a day walking about the city of Cusco, ancient capital of the Incan Empire and where we can see the interesting blend of the Incan and Spanish cultures. The outing begins at the Koricancha Temple, an old Incan palace and main center for the worship of the sun god, Inti. Once the Spanish conquered Peru, the Dominican order built a lovely church over top this temple s foundations: the church of Santo Domingo that is still there today. You will continue on foot to the neighborhood of San Blas, where the finest artisans in Cusco live and work At afternoon time between 1h 30 and 2h and you learn all the steps from harvest of the cacao in a plantation to the production of a chocolate bar. You will roast the cacao beans, peel them and grind them to produce a paste. This cacao paste was used to prepare the first known cacao drink the traditional chocolate Overnight: San Agustin Plaza Hotel 3.5 * Standard Room * June 14 th : Cusco to Puno After Breakfast, transfer At Train station ( located in middle of city) This spectacular train trip starts in the historical city of Cusco and goes South, to Puno, by the side of Lake Titicaca. The glass windows on the Andean Explorer train will let you perfectly observe the beautiful landscape: the train slowly ascends to very high and cold places, around the magníficent Andes mountain range, over the deep Huatanay River valleys. Then, the train goes through the Andean plains, where you can see vicunas and alpacas grazing among the small villages along the road. The trip includes a stop at La Raya, the highest spot of the route, to observe the spectacular landscape at 4,300 meters above sea level. The trip includes a three course lunch on board. 4 June 15 th : Exploring Puno Today you will start 2D/1N Experience at Titicaca Lake: Uros Islands + Amantani Island + Taquile Island PVT The trip begins early as you head out of the city of Puno towards the Uros Islands, whose inhabitants are hunters and gatherers and handicraft vendors as well as descendants of the first altiplano residents. After an hour on these particular islands learning about the life of the residents there, you will sail over to Amantani Island, located at an elevation of 4150 meters and whose culture can be traced back to Pre- Incan times. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by the family at whose home you will be staying. You will eat lunch there and then visit the Pacha Tata ceremonial center, famous for its mystical energy. You will lodge on the island for the night.. Overnight: Overnight at a local home Meals: Breakfast at Hotel, lunch and Dinner at Local Home June 16 th : Puno to Lima After your breakfast, you will take an hour boat ride to Taquile Island, whose highest mountains are 3950 m. The culture on the island is old, dating back to Pre-Incan times. The islanders still live according to the traditions and beliefs of their ancestors and are world renowned for their lovely outfits and incredible textiles. In fact, UNESCO has declared the textile art of Taquile Island as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. After sharing some time with the islanders and standing in awe of the lake setting, you will return to the city of Puno. Arrival and then you will be transferred back to the airport at the proper hour for your flight back to Lima.
