1 All provisions in this schedule are regional plan [rcp/rp]. Introduction s have been identified as nationally threatened ecosystems that have been reduced significantly from their former extent. s are characterised as being permanently or intermittently wet areas of shallow water, with l/water margins that support a natural ecosystem of predominantly indigenous plants animals that are adapted to wet conditions. The provisions for wetls listed in this schedule are in D8 Management Areas Overlay. The areas are listed below /or identified on the planning maps under the Management Areas Overlay. This schedule has been compiled from existing information on significant freshwater wetls in Auckl identified in publicly available documents existing databases. These information sources include: Auckl Department of Conservation Management Strategy; Department of Conservation Sites of Special Wildlife Interest Database (sites of outsting, high, moderate-high or moderate ranking); WERI (s of Ecological Representative Importance) database; Regional District Plans, including Appendix B of the Auckl Regional Policy Statement 1999; Protected Natural Area Programme survey reports; Local reports such as Waiheke Isl Sites of Significance. The schedule identification numbers are the same numbers used in Auckl Council s Natural Heritage Information Database, to enable easy cross-referencing where further information is required for a wetl. The schedule reflects the range of wetl types in Auckl, including raupo, cabbage tree, flax, rush sedge swamps, kahikatea swamp forest, wetls associated with lakes, streams volcanic systems, wetls associated with freshwater-estuarine ecological sequences. The schedule contains a number of wetls that are associated with natural lakes. The wetls associated with these lakes have been identified separately for their ecological wildlife values. The schedule also contains freshwater wetls that are associated with significant estuarine ecosystems such as the Kaipara, Waitemata Manukau Harbours.
