1 1 st September 2015 Parent/Guardian, Dear Parents, Japanese and Textile and Design Tour to Japan 2016 This letter is to give you further information about our 2016 trip to Japan for students studying elective Japanese (Years 9-11 in 2016) and Textile and Design (Years 10 and ) to experience first- hand Japanese language and culture. We currently have 45 students attending (plus 3 teachers Mrs. Lawrence, Miss Watson and a female teacher as well as the interpreter who is also the travel agent, Mr Alan Gibson). Some of the accommodation arrangements are still to be finalised in order to cater for the large group. The second payment instalment is now due. Payment details: Japanese language students: The first payment was a non-refundable $400 deposit. This payment acts as your first deposit and payment for your travel insurance. If you have provided your address the insurance Product Disclosure Statement will be forwarded to you for reading. The PDS Insurance Brochure can also be accessed on Moodle in Notes Home. 4 Cheltenham Girls High School Japan Trip 2016 Permission Note I give permission for my daughter.. Roll Call. to travel to Japan on 11 th April returning 21 st April 2016 with the Cheltenham Girls High School tour group under the supervision of Mrs Lawrence. In the event of accident or illness, I authorise the school to obtain on my behalf, of such medical assistance, including ambulance, doctor, etc. my daughter may require. I also undertake to pay medical fees/and/or cost of medication incurred that is not covered by insurance, while my daughter is in Japan. I understand that the supervising teacher will seek medical aid for my daughter/ward should she deem this necessary. I understand that the supervising teacher will make every effort to contact me should my daughter require medical assistance while in Japan. 6 Previous information has been repeated below. Our travel agency is Japan Specialist Travel (Trans Orbit Pty Ltd) who has a wealth of experience in organising trips for students to Japan. They are a most reputable company and the tour will be organised by a very experienced agent who has been organising trips to Japan for over 15 years. Students will need a valid passport (must be valid for 6 months AFTER return to Australia). If you are accepted on this tour and do not have a valid passport, please apply for one as soon as possible. All students will be required to purchase travel insurance offered by Trans Orbit Pty Ltd and are not permitted to arrange their own. Those travelling on a passport other than an Australian passport may need to apply for a visa, which they will have to organise well before the time of departure. Currently air travel has been quoted with JAL (Japan Airlines). On top of the quoted price you will need money for souvenirs and other items you wish to purchase ONLY. All meals and attractions are included in the cost. How much to be taken depends on how much shopping the girls wish to do. Proposed Dates: April 11 April 21 st 2016 Cost: $3,650 (Japanese language students) $3,820 (Textiles students) Please note: 1) This price cannot be confirmed until $1400 per student has been paid to secure the price of the flights. 2) There is also a possibility there could be a slight increase in cost due to any weakening of the $AUS before the final amount has been paid to the travel agent. In order to make airline bookings and to purchase a rail pass voucher we need your child s correct name and a valid passport. On the deposit slip below and in the final permission note, we need you to write in capital letters your child s correct legal name as it appears on their passport. We need a photocopy or scan of that passport by October 1 st It is recommended to scan or photocopy as soon as you are able. Scans are to be ed to Cheltenham-h.school@det.nsw.edu.au Attention: Suellen Lawrence. If your child will not be travelling on an Australian passport, you will need to make the correct visa applications if required. This will be your responsibility.
