2 The Itinerary Day 1: Australia Osaka, Japan (In-Flight Meals) Today depart from either Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, *Adelaide or *Perth for Osaka, Japan (via Guangzhou, Shanghai or Beijing). Fly with either China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines or Air China (subject to availability). Day 2: Welcome to Osaka (No Meals) Upon arrival your exciting journey begins. Arrive into Osaka and be met by the tour guide and transferred to your hotel. Relax and enjoy the evening in Japan s historic and vibrant city. Overnight: Hotel Nikko Kansai Airport, Osaka Day 3: Osaka Nara Osaka (B) This morning after breakfast, you will visit the famous landmark Osaka Castle Garden. Surrounded by greenery, the garden commands a beautiful view of the castle tower and the stone wall of the moat. Then enjoy some free time in Shinsaibashi, the premier shopping area in Osaka. Around 600m long, it s filled with trendy boutiques, retail chains, and luxury department stores. Then make your way to Nara, a city shrouded in legend and thronged with significant sites. Head first to Todai-ji Temple, an ancient 8th-century structure that houses some of Japan s national treasures, and gaze at 3,000 antique bronze and stone lanterns. Spend some free time in Nara before returning to Osaka in the afternoon. Overnight: Shin Osaka Washington Hotel Plaza, Osaka Day 4: Osaka Kyoto Toyohashi (B) Today you will leave Osaka for Kyoto. Upon arrival you will be free at your own leisure to explore this historical city until 4.00pm. The optional tour will visit such sights as Fushimi Inari Shrine, Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion), Kinkakuji and you will also attend a traditional Japanese tea ceremony. Afterwards you transfer to your hotel in Toyohashi. Overnight: Loisir Hotel, Toyohashi Day 5: Toyohashi Shizuoka Lake Yamanaka Mt Fuji Yamanashi (B) After breakfast drive to Shizuoka City, the capital of Japanese tea production and visit a local tea house. Shizuoka Prefecture contains 40% of the total area of tea plantations in Japan. Then drive through the countryside and mountains to reach Lake Yamanaka, the largest of all the Fuji Five Lakes which offers a good view of Mt. Fuji. It is located in the village of Yamanakako which is populated by many swans. Thus, it has been unofficially called Swan Lake.. Take a scenic boat ride around the lake. Drive to Mt Fuji 5th Station (weather permitting). At 2300m above sea level, the Fuji 5th Station offers a commanding view of the Fuji Five Lakes area below, making it a popular spot for those who are not intent on climbing the mountain. An observation point with unobstructed views of Fujiyoshida City and Lake Yamanaka can be found at Komitake Shrine behind the shops. Overnight: Route Inn Kawaguchiko, Yamanashi Day 6: Yamanashi Tokyo (B) This morning, you will visit the Great Buddha of Kamakura, a bronze statue of Amida Buddha, which stands on the grounds of Kotoku-in Temple. With a height of 13m, it is the second tallest bronze Buddha statue in Japan, surpassed only by the statue in Nara s Todai-ji Temple. Then drive to Tokyo and visit Meiji Shrine, a key Shinto religious site that was dedicated to the Imperial Family in Walk among the serene gardens that surround the shrine as you listen to more details about its importance from your guide. Last visit Nakamise Shopping Street, a brightly-coloured thoroughfare of food vendors and souvenir stores that leads to Asakusa Kannon Temple

See the shimmering Itsukushima Shrine then revitalize with a delicious lunch in a local eatery (not included). Reboard the boat and cruise back to Hiroshima to reflect on the heartbreaking history of the region. Take a moment of contemplation at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, a historical site near to where the atomic bomb exploded.
