4 About the Colloquium John von Neumann Computer Society Biomedical Section has been organizing its annual scientific meetings, the Neumann Colloquium, since The event series, originating from the Laboratory of Cybernetics at the University of Szeged, was hosted by many cities throughout the years, including Szeged, Szekszárd, and Veszprém. The speakers of the Colloquium have mainly come from university research institutes or industrial partners, but also representatives of the healthcare government sector, healthcare administration and healthcare providers appeared among them. Institutional users of healthcare informatics represented a considerable proportion of the member audience of the Colloquium. As the industrial background for innovations in national healthcare informatics was rearranged after the regime change, the position of major nuclear medicine and ECG manufacturers changed on the world market, and the activity of the Section also declined in the early 2000s. From 2011 on, the management of the Biomedical Section has been renewed. The new leaders have deliberately expanded the scope of topics discussed by the Section. In addition to research and development, the Section also raised several issues related to modern applications of medical information technology during its events. From 2012, monthly sessions of the Biomedical Section discussed the medical needs of the various medical registers, and the solution concepts of the IT service providers and healthcare government sector, with great interest. A stand-alone event focused on inter-institutional telemedicinal solutions, and another event covered the topic of systems supporting home-care for chronic diseases. Also, an independent event reviewed the question of utilization possibilities of national healthcare data assets and the major healthcare informatics projects. Instead of the monthly sessions, in the second semester of every year, the Section focuses on organizing an annual conference, the Neumann Colloquium. As a result, the IEEE 30th Jubilee Neumann Colloquium will also cover a wide range of topics. This year, for the first time, the Colloquium is sponsored by IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), which enables the participants to present their work in prestigious, internationally available and citable conference proceedings.

5 General Information Date and Place The IEEE 30th Jubilee Neumann Colloquium will take place on November 24-25, 2017 at Óbuda University in Budapest, Hungary. Organizer John von Neumann Computer Society Biomedical Section Sponsor IEEE Hungary Section Scope In 2017, John von Neumann Computer Society Biomedical Section and Óbuda University will be cohosting the IEEE 30th Jubilee Neumann Colloquium. The annual meeting point for Hungarian health informatics - with decades of experience - is looking forward to the introduction of research and development workshops from universities, research institutes, healthcare institutes and industrial partners. Topics The IEEE 30th Jubilee Neumann Colloquium aims providing a state-of-the-art picture of all topics covered by the previous Colloquiums. Topics include but not limited to: Medical data collection, measurement (electronic and mobile sensors, measuring devices) Health data transmission, telecommunication, telemedicine, health monitoring, mobile health systems Health data processing o structuring and classification o bio-medical statistics o other data processing (image processing, digital data processing, natural language processing, time series analysis etc.) o datamining Modelling and simulation Process analysis, process control and management, operational systems (HIS, EHR, lab systems, PACS, etc.), eprescription, Central Health Systems (EESZT) Health economics Physiological and pathophysiological modelling and control Medical robotics Ontologies and standards 5

6 Official Language The official language of the conference is English. Presentations should be made in English (except some Hungarian sessions). Proceedings Each accepted paper reaching us in time will be published on the pendrive proceedings that will be distributed at the registration desk. Opening Hours of the Registration Desk The registration desk will be open during the conference. Paper Presentation Presentations are to be made by using data projector. All authors are kindly asked to take their presentation on CD or USB drive. To present the paper, authors are asked not to use their own laptop. Conference room is supplied with data projector and with PC/laptop. Lunch and Reception Registration fee includes coffee break and lunch for each day of the conference, and conference banquet. Smoking Smoking is not allowed in the conference building. Internet Free Wi-Fi is provided in the building of Óbuda University. MTÜ/HSS The symposium is organized as a part of Hungarian Scientific Season. 6
