2 24 Day Croatia cruising & France River Cruise including Germany with Day 1 - Tuesday 4th September, 2018 Home to Sydney Today we make our way to Sydney where we spend the night at a Sydney Airport hotel and get acquainted with our fellow travelers. Overnight Sydney Airport Hotel Day 2 - Wednesday 5th September, 2018 (L,D) Sydney to Munich - In Flight (Meals in flight) Day 3 - Thursday 6th September, 2018 (B) Upon arrival into Munich we are transferred to our hotel. (Check in from 2pm). We can store our luggage until our rooms are ready. This afternoon/evening is free. Hotel: 3 Nights Munich Day 4 - Friday 7th September, Munich (B,D) After breakfast we enjoy a 1/2 Day Tour of Munich is home to numerous centuries-old buildings, museums and monuments. The city is one of Germany's biggest hubs, where history, art, culture, technology, innovation, business and tourism meet. The capital of Bavaria is well- known for its annual Oktoberfest and historical beer halls, like the Hofbraeuhaus. In the pedestrian area of the Old Town, Marienplatz is a central square with landmarks such as the Gothic New Town Hall with the popular daily "Glockenspiel" show, the Old Town Hall and St. Peter, the oldest church in town. You can get a glimpse of Hitler's life and the Nazi movement through the stories of your tour guide. You will meet your local guide at Marienplatz, at the Fish-fountain, where you will start the guided tour exploring the city. This afternoon is free and we enjoy dinner tonight with the group. Day 5 - Saturday 8th September, Munich (B,D) Today is free to enjoy the sights & sounds of Munich. Why not join an optional tour to Salzburg, The Royal Castles or Eagles Nest (full details available upon request). Plenty of options to choose from. Day 6 - Sunday 9th September, Dubrovnik (B, ) After breakfast we check out of our hotel and make our way to the airport for our flight to Dubrovnik. We will be met upon arrival and transferred to our hotel. Tonight is free for you to explore this beautiful ancient city. Hotel: 1 Pre-Cruise night Dubrovnik Day 7: Monday 10th September, Dubrovnik (B,D) This morning after breakfast we take a 2 hour guided walking tour of the Old Town and the ancient city walls. This afternoon we embark on our 6 Day Coastal Cruise along the magnificent Dalmatian Coastline & islands on route to Spilt. Relax and let the captain and crew take care of you, during the day we will discover these island on land and by sea (don t forget your swimmers) and explore the underworld of the Adriatic Sea. The evenings we will have free in most ports to discover old churches and other historical towns and dine with the locals. Relax and unpack in you air conditioned en-suite cabin, before meeting up on deck for our welcome dinner. Day 8: Tuesday 11th September, 2018 (B,L) SIPAN / TRSTENIK The morning is free to further explore the Old Town and visit Rector s Palace or Franciscan Monastery. Depart during lunch for the island of Sipan, one of the small, unspoilt Elafiti Islands, or Trstenik on the Pelajesac Peninsula. We dock in town and explore this lovely port and enjoy a dinner (own expense) Day 9: Wednesday 12th September, 2018 (B,L) KORCULA After breakfast, depart for Korcula, birthplace of Marco Polo featuring historic medieval architecture. On arrival in the late afternoon, join an guided walking tour to discover this small town with its fortress and impressive city walls. The town and island itself are renowned for having more legends, stories and monuments than anywhere else on the Dalmatian coast. Day 10: Thursday 13th September, 2018 (B,L) HVAR Depart early morning and head towards the Pakleni Islands to enjoy a swim before being served lunch. In the late afternoon you arrive in the lively port of Hvar Town on the island of Hvar which is famous for its lavender fields and vineyards. Join an guided walking tour of this historical town with its labyrinth of streets and famous Renaissance church. In the evening enjoy the abundance of restaurants, bars and cafes that line the port. Day 11: Friday 14th September, 2018 (B,L,D) SPLIT As you cruise back towards Split, today s highlight will be the island of Brac, one of the most popular Adriatic islands. Stop for lunch and a swim at one of Croatia s most famous beaches, Zlatni Rai, and on arrival in Split, join an guided walk to discover the city s Roman architecture on a tour of its centrepiece, Diocletian s Palace. Tonight we enjoy a farewell dinner on our last in Croatia. Day 12: Saturday 15th September, Lyon (B,L,D) We farewell Croatia disembark after breakfast and make our way to the airport for our flight to Lyon. Welcome to Lyon. You will be met at the airport and transferred to the ship where you will be welcomed by your Captain and crew. Tonight enjoy a welcome reception and dinner on board Day 13: Sunday 16th September, 2018 (B,L,D) Lyon (B,L,D) Lyon is France s third largest city, a former Roman capital positioned at the conference of the Rhone and Saone rivers, which is steeped in history. Today be part of the guided tour of Lyon, which starts with a drive to the Basilique Notre Dame de Fourviere, Lyon s hilltop church, with stunning views over the town. Then pass by the recently re discovered Roman amphitheatre and walk through the cobbled streets of the gastronomic old town including the secret laneways. 3 Day 14: Monday 17 September 2018 Chalon-Sur-Saone Beaune (B,L,D) Chalon Sur Saone is best known as the birthplace of photography and the center of Burgundy s wine region. Travel by road to the quaint village of Beaune, where we visit the Hospices de Beaune, one of the finest examples of French fifteenth century architecture. Marvel at the multi colored roofs of this former hospital, now a museum, which has become one of the symbols of Burgundy. Return to the ship for lunch, and then depart this afternoon for Macon arriving in the evening. Emerald ACTIVE: Guided bike tour from Tournus to Macon. This tour is only possible on the Lyon to Arles direction. Day 15: Tuesday 18 September 2018 Macon (B,L,D) Arrive in Macon, another important wine region and gateway to the Beaujolais vineyards. Macon is a great destination to try some local wines at the many tasting displays in the town. Enjoy time at leisure in the afternoon. Although a fortified town, it is the Papal Palace which stands more secure on a hill in the centre of town; its walls are feet thick. Your walk with a local guide takes you through this historic centre with its cobbled laneways and shops, overlooking the famous 'Pont d Avignon'. The rest of the day is at leisure. Day 18: Friday 21 September 2018 Arles (B,L,D) Sail into the Camargue wilderness region to the capital of Provence, Arles where you will join your local guide for a walking tour showcasing the highlights of the city in particular the exterior of the 2000 year old Roman Amphitheatre still in use today, which was originally built to hold 20,000 spectators in the style of the Colosseum in Rome. The rest of the day is at leisure to relax on board and explore Arles further. Day 19: Saturday 22 September 2018 Arles Disembarkation - Nice (B) After breakfast disembark our river cruise ship in Arles, and transfer to Nice where we will spend the next 3 nights. Hotel: 3 Nights Nice Day 20: Sunday 23 September, 2018 (B) This full day tour will introduce you to the natural beauty of the 'Moyenne Corniche' as we travel to Monaco with stops to appreciate the views and admire places of interest along the way. We make a stop at the medieval village of Eze, perched high on a cliff above the Mediterranean Sea. Whilst there you will have the chance to visit a traditional perfume factory. After a wander around the village where every street is full of charm and history, our tour then takes us on to Monaco where you will have free time to see the Cathedral where Princess Grace is buried, the changing of the guard at noon and the Palace, then we take a drive along the Formula One race circuit. Of course no Monaco tour would be complete without a stroll around Monte-Carlo with its Casino, superb hotels and beautiful gardens. The journey back to Nice will be via the 'Basse Corniche' for more superb views. Day 21: Monday 24 Septmeber, 2018 (B,D) Today is free to enjoy your last day is this beautiful town.
