1 ABOUT TURKS & CAICOS The beautiful Turks and Caicos Islands (TCIS) are situated 575 miles southeast of Miami. Covering 193 square miles of the Atlantic Ocean, Turks and Caicos has one of the longest coral reefs in the world, making it a premier diving destination. One of the most valuable possessions of the islands are the white sandy beaches, which in total cover 230 miles and are complimented with crystal clear waters. WEATHER Aside from the idyllic seas and skies, the weather here is a big draw. The average temperature on the Turks and Caicos Islands in May is 84 during the day, 77 at night. Where the Turks and Caicos weather differs from other Caribbean islands is in its distinct lack of rainfall. The island of Providenciales, where Grace Bay Club is located, is renowned as one of the driest places on the planet and enjoys about 350 sunny days a year. So be prepared to dress for the sunshine and don't forget to bring the sunscreen for those lazy days on the beach. CURRENCY The currency used in the island is the US dollar and their spoken language is English. Daylight savings time is observed and they are in the Eastern Time Zone. TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS ENTRY/EXIT REQUIREMENTS FOR U.S. CITIZENS: All U.S. citizens traveling by air outside the United States to TCIS are required to present a valid U.S. passport to enter or re-enter the United States. If remaining in the Turks and Caicos Islands for more than 24 hours, each person must fill out an immigration form. SPECIAL NOTE: The importance of having and safeguarding a U.S. passport. The Turks and Caicos Islands are geographically remote, with the nearest emergency passport facility located almost 500 miles away, which adds a costly flight to Nassau to get to the nearest U.S. Embassy. Since it is not possible to travel by air without a U.S. passport out of TCIS (as most flights to Nassau stop first in the United States), it is difficult to fly to Nassau if your passport is lost or stolen. If you are a dual national, a visa cannot be placed in a foreign document to travel to Nassau through the United States as U.S. citizens do not qualify for visas. AIRFARE AND GROUND TRANSPORTATION Airfare should be booked through Concur/Adelman Travel. On your expense reports, airfare should be charged to Project Code # and task # 2.0. Transportation to and from the airport will be arranged for you. Once we know your flight schedules and arrival and departure times, your specific ground transportation details will be sent to you directly via and will be posted on the President s Club blog page at

4 WHAT TO WEAR First, a few general things to keep in mind: Overexposure from the sun can happen quickly, so be sure to bring hats and lots of sunscreen for protection. Bring a few swim suits, so one is always dry. Also, know that swim wear worn other than poolside or at the beach is frowned upon. In general, Turks & Caicos is a relaxed destination with a conservative, laidback dress code. Conservative generally means that you are asked not to wear swim wear, tank tops, tube and halter tops, exercise wear or jogging shorts in the common areas (i.e., outside of the pool and beach). Do not pack any denim blue jeans or cutoffs. While it might include things you may not need, it will serve as a reminder of the pesky little things you always tend to forget and that are a bit pricey if you have to buy them at the resort (especially those underwater cameras)!
