It s Model A time in Oklahoma! April 2011 Our quarterly dinner at Catfish Cove in Moore was well attended and the food was great! One thing about our club members, we sure like to eat! Our Spring tour to the Stillwater & Perkins area was a huge hit. The weather was beautiful on Friday and Saturday. Eight Model A s from our club attended and thirteen Model A s from the Tulsa club attended. It s a lot of fun when the two clubs get together as our friendships are growing! The drive home on Sunday into a forty mile an hour head wind was a little challenging and our A s did fine as we drove down less populated back roads. **Visit our club website for many great pictures! Because many of our club members live in the Moore, Norman area, we will be attending the 89er Day Parade in Norman this year. The parade theme is Sooners and Schooners so our Sooner Model A Club should fit in very well! The parade Grand Marshall will be an actor from Norman; James Garner. Our club website is attracting visitors from not only the United States but visitors from around the world. Our site is also receiving many great comments from visitors. Don t forget to visit our web site for regular updates. If you don t have a home computer, you can use a computer at your local library. See you at the next activity! 5 V O L U M E 4 4, I S S UE 4 Page 5 On Friday, April 1, at 9am, Sooner Model A members met at Pop s in Arcadia to begin our Spring Tour. We arrived in Stillwater and had lunch at Eskimo s Joes. We toured the Sheerar Museum of Stillwater History and the Washington Irving Museum, before checking into to our rooms at the Quality Inn. We checked out what Stillwater Milling had to offer before we enjoyed pizza at Hideway Pizza. For a bedtime snack we walked to Braum s for ice cream. Saturday morning, we met the Tulsa Model A group in Perkins at the Oklahoma Territorial Plaza. We enjoyed visiting, touring the plaza which included Frank Eaton s home (Pistol Pete), a log cabin, school, barn and the old gas station that the Cimarron Cruisers Car Club restored. The car club from Perkins was our host at the plaza. A old time box lunch was enjoyed by all. We went south to visit the Snow Eagle House. It is an eagle rehabilitation program for releasable and non-releasable eagles ran by the Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma. It was very interesting!! We headed back to Stillwater to get the Tulsa group into their rooms. Then we were off to eat at Bad Brad s Bar B Q. Very Delicious!! Back to the motel for a skit with audience participation, just ask Ken Brust about the wind. Then one more trip to Braum s for that bedtime snack. After a hot breakfast at the motel, we toured the Botanical Gardens and part of the OSU Campus. Then once again it was time to eat. So we headed to Mexico Joe s for lunch. After a nice visit and tour of the Woodland Park Vineyard, both groups said their goodbyes and headed in opposite directions. We fought a south wind all of the way home. But nothing could take away our great memories that we made with our friends, new and old!! To see more photos of the tour, check out our website at
