1 Welcome to Fall Creek Falls State Park! Summer vacation time is here and what a great place to spend it! The park provides a wonderful opportunity to enjoy some hiking, picnicking, boating, swimming, and wildlife watching while taking in the beautiful scenery. We encourage you to take advantage of the programs we have arranged for your enjoyment and enlightenment. *A parent or guardian must accompany youngsters 12 years old and younger. For park programs requiring registration, you may use this QR code For a complete park program schedule, you may use this QR code Sunday, July 1 st 10:00am Hike to the Base of Fall Creek Falls Meet Chris at the Main Overlook of Fall Creek Falls for a short but strenuous hike to the bottom of the falls. Along the way, we will discuss our park s forest ecology and geology. 10:30am 1:30pm 2:30pm Pelts Meet Courtney at the Rec. Hall to look at the pelts of some of our native wildlife. Native American Weaving Meet Courtney at the Rec. Hall for a demonstration in Native American weaving. Upcycling Your Campsite Meet Chris at Picnic Shelter #3 (at the George Hole) to learn some multi-use and recycling tips to use at your campsite.
2 Page 2 4:30pm Corn Hole Tournament Meet Courtney at the Rec. Hall to play a fun game of corn hole. Survival Tent Competition Meet Chris at the George Hole to see who can build the best tent out of only a tarp, rope, and trees. Monday, July 2 nd 8:00am Cave Tour Fall Creek Falls State Park is known for its beautiful waterfalls and overlooks but did you know we have caves too? Come explore Camp s Gulf Cave with Tanner as we discuss the underground secrets hiding in our park. Meet at the Park Headquarters and we will drive to the trailhead for the cave. Please wear appropriate shoes and bring an extra change of clothes and a flashlight. There is a fee of $10 and a limit of 14 participants for this tour. 10:00am 5:00pm Paper Plate Turtles Meet Chris at the Rec. Hall to make your own little turtle. Invasive Species Hike Come learn about invasive and non-native species and the effects they have on our parks. Meet Tanner at the Main Overlook at Fall Creek Falls as we hike to the base of the falls. Please wear appropriate hiking shoes and bring water. Leaf Print ID Booklets Meet Chris at the Rec. Hall to learn a little about some of our native trees here at Fall Creek Falls and make a leaf rubbing ID booklet to keep. Pontoon Boat Tour Meet Holly at the Boat Dock for a pontoon boat tour around the lake. There is a Animal Signs Meet Chris at the Rec. Hall for a fun interactive game involving signs representing different animals. Cable Trail Hike Join Holly at the Picnic Shelter #1 (near the Nature Center) for a short but strenuous hike down the Cable Trail to the bottom of Cane Creek Falls. This is a great opportunity to experience the grandeur of one of our park s most prominent geological features. Wear sturdy shoes and bring along some water. Tuesday, July 3 rd 10:00am Paper Plate Snakes Meet Derek at the Rec. Hall to make a snake. This is one pet snake your parents will be sure to keep. 6 Man Morris Join Derek at the Rec. Hall to play this fun old settler game.
3 Page 3 4:30pm Ping-Pong Tournament Meet Derek at the Rec. Hall to try your hand at a game of ping-pong. Wednesday, July 4 th Join us in front of the park office in the Village at 10:30am for our famous Fourth of July Parade. Decorate your bicycle, car, or self and caravan through the park to the Campground A Pavilion. There we will enjoy watermelon, cake, and an afternoon of field games such as: Seed Spitting Contest Sack Race 3-Legged Race Dizzy Bats Tug-O-War Egg Toss Softball Throw A special thank you to Walmart of Sparta for generously donating cakes, watermelons, and eggs for our Fourth of July celebration!!! Water balloon fights during the parade are discouraged. Thursday, July 5 th 10:30am Tent Camping Basics Meet Holly at the Rec. Hall to learn the basics of setting up a tent, campfire building, and much more. 11:00am Snake Show Meet Derek at the Liberty Hill School (Andy Field Picnic Area near the North Entrance) to get up close and personal with some of the park s more elusive residents. Gilbert Gaul Hike Meet Derek at the Youth Camp 2 gate for a hike along the Gilbert Gaul Trail. This lakeside hike is a great place to view mushrooms, butterflies, beaver activity, deer, and much, much more. Bring plenty of water and wear sturdy hiking shoes. Dream Catcher Meet Holly at the Rec. Hall to learn about Native American traditions and make a dream catcher of your own.

Friday, July 6 th 9:00am Paw Paw Trail Meet Holly at Picnic Shelter #1 (near the Nature Center) for a moderate hike along the Paw Paw Trail. This will be a good time to view some trees, birds, and other interesting sights. Bring along plenty of water. 9:30am 11:00am 1:30pm 8:00pm Make a Whirlygig Meet at the Rec. Hall to make a tried and true pioneer toy with Courtney. Creek Critters Meet Raven at Picnic Shelter #1 (near the Nature Center) and take a short stroll down to one of the creeks to see what sort of critters we can find. Be sure to wear shoes and clothes that can get wet. Hike to the Base of Fall Creek Falls Meet Derek at the Main Overlook of Fall Creek Falls for a short but strenuous hike to the bottom of the falls. Along the way, we will discuss our park s forest ecology and geology. Uno Contest Join Courtney at the Rec. Hall for an Uno card game. This is fun for the whole family. Pontoon Boat Tour Meet Derek at the Boat Dock for a pontoon boat tour around the lake. There is a Oregon Trail Game Join Courtney at the Rec. Hall to see if you can make it to the end of the trail by playing the Oregon Trail card game. Pontoon Boat Tour Meet Derek at the Boat Dock for a pontoon boat tour around the lake. There is a Night Hike Meet Chris at the Campers Check-In for a nature walk around the golf course. This is the peak time to see some of the park s nightlife like deer, raccoons, frogs, etc.
5 Page 5 Saturday, July 7 th 9:00am Scenic Driving Tour Meet Holly at the Park Headquarters for scenic driving tour of Fall Creek Falls State Park featuring some of the park s spectacular waterfalls and overlooks. There is a limit of 14 and a fee of $5 per seat. Register online by clicking the Upcoming Events tab on the Fall Creek Falls State Park webpage or visit the Park Headquarters for assistance. No refunds will be given for cash transactions or customer cancellations. 10:00am 1:15pm 2:30pm 3:45pm Bottle Cap Lures Meet Derek at the Rec. Hall to learn how to turn old bottle caps into cool fishing lures. Nature Station Stop by the Main Overlook of Fall Creek Falls between 1pm and 2pm to see what Chris has on his table! This is a great opportunity to ask questions about the park and familiarize yourself with some of the things you could encounter during your stay at Fall Creek Falls! Fire Starters Meet Derek at the Rec. Hall to make some wax based fire starter blocks to use at your next campfire. Tie-Dye Meet the Friends of Fall Creek Falls at the Rec. Hall to brighten up your wardrobe! There will be a fee of $2 per person/per item or you can purchase a white shirt for $5 or a printed Fall Creek Falls shirt for $10 from the Friends. Cash or credit card will be accepted. Pontoon Boat Tour Meet Holly at the Boat Dock for a pontoon boat tour around the lake. There is a Birds of Prey Meet Courtney at the Liberty Hill School (Andy Field Picnic Area near the North Entrance) to learn about our local birds of prey and to meet our Red Tail Hawk, Delta! Marble Shootout Knuckle down and test your taw launching skills with Derek at the Rec. Hall. 7:30pm Live Musical Entertainment Meet at the Amphitheater by the pool for an evening filled with musical entertainment provided by Cumberland. Donations will be collected by the band. Suggested donation is $3 per person. In the event of rain, meet at the Rec. Hall. Sunday, July 8 th 10:00am Make a Paper Bee Meet Courtney at the Rec. Hall to make a cute bee. 11:00am Buzzard s Roost Hike Meet Chris at the Main Overlook of Fall Creek Falls for an easy hike to Millikan s Overlook and Buzzard s Roost. Learn about native wildlife and geology while taking in the breathtaking views from some of the park s most popular overlooks. Wear sturdy shoes and bring plenty of water. We All Scream for Ice Cream Meet Raven at the Liberty Hill School (Andy Field Picnic Area near the North Entrance) to make ice cream in a bag! This program is limited to 15 people and has a fee of $3 per person.
