1 IP, LLC Insider Fall 2015 Vol. 4 Ed. 4 I am a volunteer at Allegheny Valley Hospital in Natrona Heights. Jen and I volunteer in the chartroom. We assemble patient information folders and nursing charts for admitted patients for three departments. We started volunteering in April We really enjoy our work there. We especially like working with our supervisor, Jean. One of the nurse secretaries that we provide charts for submitted an to the hospital s volunteer coordinator about our work. She in turn submitted the to the CEO of the hospital, as well as, all the management members in the Allegheny Health Network. As a result, Jean, Jen and I received two free Pirate tickets each as appreciation for our dedicated volunteer services at the hospital. We were so thankful for the recognition! I went to the Pirates game on September 13th! ~Nate Nate & Jean

2 Tristan, David, Robyn, Marah, Mandy, Codi & Patsy My friends and I had a wonderful day touring the David L. Lawrence convention center. I liked looking at the art. The plants on the roof were cool, as well as, the view of the river and bridges. I could see PNC park. ~Marah

3 Ray & Solon In August, we spent a lot of time in the summer sun. One day, we rode in the car and parked at the North Shore. Next, we took the trolley to go to the farmer's market in Market Square. We tried many food samples. Kelsey liked hummus, Moe liked doughnuts and Solon liked the crackers with jelly. We took a survey and earned $5 along with a reusable bag. Then, we walked to the point and cooled off at the fountain. We took the trolley again to go to the Science Center. Kelsey liked the fish tanks. Moe liked the submarine and the interactive weather forecast exhibit. Ray and Solon both liked the roller coaster ride at the SportsWorks part of the Science Center. ~Moe, Kelsey, Ray and Solon Kelsey & Moe

4 Clockwise from the Left: Jamie, Elijah, Sean, Dan, Brooke & Jamie This summer, we had a blast at Kennywood. Our favorite ride was the Exterminator. It was so fun and dark. We ate Kennywood s famous potato patch fries and chicken fingers. We rode the Phantoms Revenge. We also went on the bumper cars, which was another favorite of ours. Dan, Jamie and Tristan went on the Raging Rapids. They got soaked from the waterfall!! All of us had a great time making memories! ~Elijah and Sean Sean & Elijah

5 Gina and Maureen took a nice long walk in Mt. Lebanon. What did they stumble upon but, another Little Free Library on LeMoyne Avenue. This one came complete with instructions of what to do and how to use the Little Library. It was very well-built and thoughtfully put together. It looked pretty new to us and was stocked full of great books!

6 Pittsburgh is called The City of Bridges. There are more bridges in Pittsburgh than in the city of Venice. There was once a covered bridge named The Union Bridge. It was located at the point. It was built in 1874 and it was replaced by the Manchester Bridge. The Manchester Bridge was replaced by the Fort Duquesne Bridge. You can still see part of the pier of the Manchester Bridge on the bank of the Allegheny river near the stadiums. From 1876 to 1927 there was a bridge called The Point Suspension Bridge. It, also was located at the point. It was replaced by the Point Bridge, or Second Point Bridge, which was replaced by the Fort Pitt Bridge. The Tenth Street Bridge is the only conventional suspension bridge in Pittsburgh. There are the Sister Bridges of Pittsburgh. They cross The Allegheny River. They are the 6 th Street, 7 th Street and 9 th Street bridges and are named The Roberto Clemente Bridge, The Andy Warhol Bridge and The Rachel Carson Bridge. There is the West End Bridge. It goes from the North Side to the West End Circle. The McKees Rocks Bridge is more than a mile long. It goes from David

8 For over a month, Gina worked tirelessly on an art project. She sometimes worked on her art after she volunteered at the Humane Society, or after she practiced arm knitting at her local library. Here's a picture of Gina at the Mt. Lebanon Library's Craft Studio. The studio is called the "Maker Space", where anyone can come to work on their favorite projects! Gina Gina's Final Product!

9 Frank visited Market Square on a Tuesday afternoon to celebrate Christmas in July. Children played Christmas songs on their instruments. Santa was dressed for the beach! Frank & Santa

10 Tommy and Jesse ganged up on Tristan throughout the afternoon at the North Park pool. They had fun capturing him, dunking him, and having splash attacks. Tristan was such a good sport. Marah & Beth Over the summer Marah, Jeff, and I went swimming. It was a pretty good day for it. I had a good time doing warm up skills, swimming on my back and stomach, and doing somersaults in the water. It has been a few years since I swam in a public pool. I am glad I went because I wasn t sure I should, BUT I did it! ~Beth Tristan & Tommy

11 Jamie, Sean, Jamie & Elijah We rode to Idlewild on a BIG charter bus. We played games on the way there. One of the games we played was Bingo. We had to look for signs, animals and such to get a Bingo. We went on a lot of fun rides at Idlewild. Roberta enjoyed the Merry-Go-Round and the Train. Elijah and Sean loved the Spider ride. Roberta loved the Daniel Tiger show! Everyone met Daniel the Tiger and gave him a big hug. Marah says that she had a great day and hugging Daniel Tiger was her favorite part! On the way home, we watched a movie, Doctor Dolittle. Most Holy Name also provide crafts for us to do. This was something Roberta really enjoyed doing. 12 We enjoyed a beautiful summer evening at PNC Park cheering on the Buccos. We dressed for the occasion. It was a good thing we stayed through until the end because the Pirates came back to WIN in the bottom of the 9th inning! Let s Go Bucs! Jimmy & Angie
