Come experience time at camp without the responsibility of chaperoning girls. Learn ideas and activities to take back to your troop while connecting with volunteers from all over the Council. We are even throwing in a few essential trainings. Optional - bring a snack to share at the campfire. 7:45-9:15 Step Nature A friendly way to introduce our natural surroundings to girls. Learn about common wildflowers, trees, and how to identify (and avoid!) poison ivy. Includes tips for earning nature related badges including the new Art in the Outdoors badge. 6:00-7:30 Campfire Desserts Ranger Jeff will be sharing how to make some of his favorite campfire desserts. In the daylight, learn how to use a map and compass to navigate from point to point. Then when the sun sets try your new skill in the dark! 6:00-7:30 Girl Scout Songs Can t carry a tune? We don t care! Sing your heart out as you learn a variety of fun and traditional Girl Scout songs. Then practice them during the evening campfire. 6:00-9:15 Campfire Cooking Techniques Learn how to cook fun, healthy, kid-approved meals over a campfire. Come hungry for this session! Bring a dunk bag with plate, silverware, bowl and cup. No paper plates. If you have food allergies please notify Jean Orcutt, jean.orcutt@gsnim.org, by Oct 14. 7:45-9:15 Outdoor SWAPS SWAPS stands for Special Whatchamacallits Affectionately Pinned Somewhere and are a long standing tradition in Girl Scouts. These small handmade tokens of friendship are exchanged with new found Girl Scout friends. Make a variety of SWAPS to share during the evening campfire and with your troop. 7:45-9:15 Trip Planning Basics Learn the ins and outs of planning for Girl Scout field trips, overnights and other travel opportunities. Includes planning progression, how to making it girl-led and what council policies and forms you need to be aware of. Essential Training. 6:00 9:15 Letting Girls Lead Through hands-on activities experience how to incorporate the 3 Processes of Girl Led, by Doing and Cooperative Girl Scout activities. Also includes conflict management skills. Essential Training. 9:15 -? Campfire Songs/S'mores/SWAPS Not tired yet? Relax around the campfire for networking, SWAPS, songs and traditional campfire snacks. Optional - You are encouraged to bring your favorite snack to share.

3 Saturday 7:15-8:15 Breakfast For those staying over Friday night, join us for a delicious hot breakfast in the Dining Hall. 7:15-8:15 Check in Those of you arriving Saturday morning, check in at the dining hall to receive your event materials. 8:30-10:00 Water Ecology We all know how an ecosystem has living and nonliving things that come together and interact. Did you know the quality of the water can be determined by what organisms are living in it? Come down to the wetlands and explore to find out the quality of the water. This is a great session for those of you completing the It s Your Planet, Love It Journey. 8:30-10:00 Crafts that Say Wow! Learn how to do paper marbling and make a colorful book cover. Then try your hand at cardboard loom weaving to make a floss bracelet with beads. 8:30-10:00 We re at Camp! Now what? Taking your troop camping is a great experience for girls but how can you make it a great experience for adults also? 8:30-10:00 PB & J Pint Size PB & J stands for Proficiency Badges & Journeys. Discover how the Journeys and Girls Guide to Girl Scouting activities complement each other just like peanut butter and jelly. This pint size PB & J session introduces these resources, shares how to tailor the activities to fit the needs of your group and offers tips and advice on interacting with girls to implement the Girl Scout program. Essential Training. 8:30 3:00 Outdoor Basics This course qualifies volunteers to do fire building, outdoor cooking and camping with their troop. Participants learn the basic skills needed to provide a positive outdoor experience for girls. Your group will receive a mystery basket of food items. Your mission is to prepare a delicious meal using various outdoor cooking methods. All food will be shared with the full group. Get rid of paper waste by making seed bombs. Learn creative ways to recycle that in with Journey activities

4 1:30-3:00 Talk to the Trees and Buzz with the Bees Girls will be excited and engaged in their natural surroundings when they try these activities. Make things to enhance the habitat of butterflies and bees. Then gather natural materials and make cool things to take home and enjoy. 1:30-3:00 Canoeing and Kayaking Experience the fun of paddling a canoe and/or kayak across the bay of Camp Logan. Learn how to safely board and launch each watercraft, correctly paddle, stop and hold, and turn. Weather permitting. Bring a towel and water shoes (if you have them). 1:30-3:00 Parachutes and other Girl Scout Games Have you ever snuck under a downward floating parachute or flipped a ball sky high with a parachute? Learn a variety of fun games to play with this exciting item. Also learn some other games to keep girls engaged in the outdoors. 3:15-4:00 Volunteer Toolkit Learn about this valuable tool available on our website. The VTK will make your girl Scout leader responsibilities a piece of cake! Helpful Hints and Additional Information Directions to Camp Logan From Fort Wayne area. Approximately 1 hour, travel on Highway 30 west to Highway 13. Turn north (right) and follow Highway 13 through North Webster; then turn west (left) at the flashing yellow light at County Road 1000 N. Camp Logan will be 3 miles ahead on the left. From the South Bend. Approximately an 1 hour, travel to US 31/20/Bypass east, to SR 19S. Follow SR 19 to Nappanee. Turn left on to US 6. Drive about 12 miles to CR 29. Turn right onto CR 29. Travel about 3 miles through Syracuse to W Bowser Road (stoplight, Burger King). Turn right onto W Bowser Road/1200 N. Drive about a mile to 450 E. Turn left onto 450 E. Drive 2 miles until it comes to a T. Turn right onto CR 1000N. The camp is about 1/3 mi on the left. From the Logansport. Approximately 1 hour 30 min. Travel 24 E to SR 115. Turn left on to SR 115. Drive to SR 15. Turn left onto SR 15. Drive approximately 37 miles to CR 900 N (north of Leesburg). Turn right onto CR 900 N. Drive 3.5 mi to CR 300 N. turn left. In 1 mi. turn right onto CR 1000 N. Follow the road around Dewart Lake. Turn right on to Cr 1000 N. The camp is about 1/3 mile on the right. 3:15-4:00 Let s Get Together Experience cooperative learning activities that will build lifelong skills in your girls. 4:00-4:30 Closing Ceremony

5 Not a camper? Here are several area lodging choices. Arrangements and lodging costs are the responsibility of the participant. Brook Pointe Inn 4906 E 1200 N, Syracuse, IN Anchor Inn Bed & Breakfast N State Rd 13, Syracuse IN , Additional lodging is located in Warsaw and Goshen. What to Bring... Sessions will take place over the entire camp, rain or shine, hot or cold. Comfortable walking shoes and rain gear are a must! Also, dress for the weather; layers are recommended. Days can be warm. Nights can be cold. For Those Staying Overnight... Overnight accommodations include limited indoor sleeping quarters but plenty of room in platform tents. Webster House (sleeping on floor mattresses, flush toilets, showers) is reserved for those with special needs or early bed times. Each platform tent includes four cots with mattresses. Pack appropriate bedding. Depending on the weather, a shower house maybe available. You may also bring your own tents! No campers please. Sleeping bag/bedroll and extra blankets (night air can turn cold) Pillow Toiletries/medications Flashlight and extra batteries Change of clothes Favorite teddy bear or stuffed animal Lawn chair for the camp fire (optional) A snack to share at the campfire (optional). SWAPS (optional) Suggested items ALL participants should bring: A dunk bag (netted hosiery bag with a drawstring) with unbreakable plate, bowl, silverware, hot & cold cup Rain gear Jacket or sweatshirt A sit upon or camp chair (optional) Water bottle Comfortable walking shoes or hiking boots, no sandals A back pack or tote bag (optional)
