1 February 2013 Hi all. This was our first meeting for 2013, and I would like to start the newsletter by welcoming our 6 new members: Ellen Lindeque, Gerna Pretorius, Leon Schultz, Gawie Pieterse, Janet Pieterse and Calvin Coetzee... WELCOME ALL!! We had a light discussion about having a quarterly Plant Flea Market at the strawberry farm, and Chris is still working on this, in the meantime we must keep our ears and eyes open for potential plant cultivators, (any plants), and introduce them to the idea of having a stall every 3 months to sell their goods. If the dream realizes, we will need more than 3 stalls :) We also discussed having a library, and Chris and I lent some of our books out to get this off the ground until the club can afford to buy books for this purpose. The library will start at the next meeting, and each person will be allowed to keep 1 book until the following meeting. Thirdly, I urge club members to bring plants they want to swop or sell to the meetings, this will let everyone have the chance to get rid of excess plants and acquire new ones at the same time. If you have an unidentified plant, please bring the whole plant along, maybe someone can identify it for you. Bringing the plant is a hassle, I know, but it is the best way to get an accurate name as photos and leaves of plants can be misleading. The next meeting will take place on Saturday the 2 nd of March 2013 at 10h00 It will be held at Adrian van Rensen's place. Address: 455 Frederick str, Pretoria West. Adrian can be reached on his cell if you need any information. Since we have no pictures this month, I decided to put in photos of some of my own plants...just for those who, like me, sometimes forget why we fell in love with these gems in the first place, and sometimes get a bit intimidated by all the sweat and blood, and blood, and blood that is nessecary to keep them looking their best.
