1 Kindle s Korner by Yankton School District. Crane Youngworth Field/Stadium Recommendations I would like to thank all of those involved with our three committees and the recommendations brought forth to the Yankton School Board for their consideration. A thank you to the people who came out to the Special School Board Meeting held at the Yankton Middle School Theater on November 8. We had very good public input and discussion. Further discussion and cost estimates for the recommendations were presented at the November 14 School Board Meeting. Opportunity for public input was also provided for those in attendance. There was no action taken on the recommendations. School Board action is tentatively planned for the December 12 School Board Meeting. The public is welcome to attend. Field Grounds Field House Committee Ryan Mors, Chair Mason Ballard, YHS Student Warren Brenner, Head Boys Soccer Coach Sarah Carda, School Board Member Todd Dvoracek, Middle School Principal Paxton Heinz, YHS Student Dr. Jim Hohn, Community Member Sondra Jensen, YYSA & Parent Dr. Jeremy Kudera, Parent Arlin Likness, Head Football Coach Kris Luellman, Parent Aaron Ness, Parent Matthew Pietz, School Board Member Dave Spencer, Community Member Chuck Turner, Head of Building & Grounds
2 Recommendations by Field Grounds Field House Committee Field: 1. Synthetic Turf The committee considered a synthetic turf surface vs. a natural grass surface. The committee members present voted unanimously (12-0) in favor of recommending a synthetic turf playing surface. Grounds: 1. Ticket Booths One new ticket booth will be built on the north side of the complex and one new ticket booth will be built on the south side of the complex. 2. Sidewalks Sidewalks will be added in the following locations: On the south and west sides of the complex to connect the visiting south bleachers with the new restroom and concession facility in the northwest corner of the complex. On the south and east side of the complex to connect the south ticket booth with the east end zone bleachers and the north bleachers. On the north side where the new home ticket booth will be located to the new bleachers and to the new restroom and concession facility in the northwest corner of the complex. Essentially sidewalks will connect the entire interior perimeter of the complex 3. Fencing Fencing will be moved/added in areas where needed. 4. Bus Parking Bus Parking will be added by putting in a two lane drive through along the backside (Northeast side) of the fieldhouse. 5. Tunnel/Arch A smaller scaled down version of an arch will be constructed as an entry point for the teams to enter the field from Fieldhouse (locker rooms). The arch will replicate the current design used on the south side of the old grandstands. It will be located between the east end zone bleachers where the HS students sit and the main home side grandstands that will be constructed to the north. Fieldhouse: 1. Locker Room Showers Both public restrooms will be converted into two separate showering areas within the two existing locker rooms. 2. Officials Locker Room The current concessions area will be converted into an official s locker room.
3 3. Training Room There is an open area in the southeast end of the field house building that is currently being used as an overflow storage area. Currently it is mostly empty. This space will be converted into a training room and a small AD Office. 4.
