1 NORTH WEST REGIONAL EVENT FRIDAY 1 SATURDAY 2 APRIL 2016 NW REGIONAL SOCIAL FRIDAY 1 APRIL NW REGIONAL DRIVE SATURDAY 2 APRIL NE REGIONAL SOCIAL SATURDAY 2 APRIL The GRRC is branching out of Goodwood! Our first Regional Drive of 2016 will take place on Saturday 2 April starting from Lancashire in the North West with a lunch stop in the North Yorkshire Dales and concluding in Northumberland in the North East. We will also be taking the opportunity to hold a couple of Members socials over the weekend. The first Regional Social will be held at The Inn at Whitewell near Clitheroe from hours on Friday 1 April. We will kick off the Regional Drive at 0930 hours on Saturday 2 April at the Inn at Whitewell passing through the Forrest of Bowland, North to the edge of the Yorkshire Dales then North West. The route will take in the spectacular scenery of the Lake District National Park with a section of road passing along Lake Windemere up to Ullswater and beyond to Penrith before heading back around to the Yorkshire Dales. We will end this section of the drive at the highest pub in the UK, the Tan Hill Inn. This is a great place to stop and refuel with lunch and a drink after covering 111 miles. We expect the morning drive to take between 3 3 ½ hours, depending upon your speed and actual route. We will head off on our second part of the drive at around 1400 hours where the journey continues South from the Tan Inn, further into the depths of the stunning Yorkshire Dales to Hawes prior to following the roads back North through the picturesque scenery up into the Peninnes, on to Middleton-in-Teesdale and passing through Alston. We then head East and North again to the finishing flag in Hexham at the stunning location of Slaley Hall. The afternoon route consists of 114 miles of winding and meandering roads which are anticipated to take around 3 ½ hours. Our visit to the North West will conclude with our second Regional Social at Slaley Hall from 1800 hours. The Bay Bridge suite, off the main bar area in Slaley Hall is reserved for the GRRC from 1730hrs onwards. You are most welcome to come along and join us at a Regional Social and participate in the full day of driving, or you may prefer to meet us en route and drive part of the way either in the morning or afternoon. 4 DIRECTIONS Start at The Inn at Whitewell near Clitheroe B6243 (post code BB7 3AT) Head east towards Hall Hill on the B6478 to Slaidburn After approximately 6.5 miles, when entering Slaidburn head north-east on Church St/B6478 towardstown End After aproximatly 4.5 miles turn left onto The Skaithe Continue onto Lythe Fell Rd Head north on Lythe Fell Rd towards Bentham A65 When entering Bentham, continue onto Station Rd, then turn right onto Main St/B6480 followed by a left onto Robin Ln Robin Lane/Bentham Rd for apromximatly 3 miles to Ingleton, turn left on New Road A65 Follow A65 and A590 to Cumbria (stay on this road for apromixmatly 18 miles) Follow A5074 to A592 (approximately 35 miles) Head north on Kirkstone Pass/A592 to Ullswater (approximately 10 miles) When arriving in Ullswater take the A592 to Little Dockary in Penrith After approximately 9 miles, Penrith A6 to A66 Tan Hill Inn for lunch stop (predicted stop between hrs)

6 DIRECTIONS Tan Hill Inn lunch stop Head west on Long Causeway After approximately 390ft turn left and continue onto Stonesdale Ln B6270 to Kirkby Stephen After approximately 1 mile Turn right onto B6270 Head west on B6270 After approximately 8.5 miles Turn right onto B6259 towards Kirkby Stephen Turn right onto Market St/A685 Head north on North Rd/A685 towards Brough for approximately 4 miles When arriving in Brough head north-east on B6276 Continue on B6276 for approximately 13 miles before merging with B6277 Turn left onto Market Pl/B6277 continue to follow B6277 for approximately 22 miles towards Alston Turn right onto A689 heading east towards Jollybeard Ln After approximately 25 miles turn left onto Market Pl/B6296 Continue on B6296 for approximately 5 miles Turn left onto A68 Follow A68 for approximately 15 miles until you reach Slaley Hall
