As many of you may have heard, we re adding a waterslide to the Family Pool in early July. This fabulous addition is the latest in a growing list of amenities designed to enhance the member experience. It s certainly a great time to be a kid at EFYCC! Several new and expanded programs and activities have also been added to the member calendar. They have been designed to appeal to a wide variety of ages and interests. As always, I encourage you to join in on the social and recreation fun offered. Thank you for your continued support of Epping Forest Yacht & Country Club. It s here from 5-8 p.m., the children s knee-high buffet is featured along with the Terrace dining menu. The young ones also receive a complimentary dessert. One of the Cub s Den attendants will lead the children in an activity or craft. July themes include Let Freedom Ring (July 2), Fun in the Sun (July 9), Ahoy Matey (July 16), Luau Night (July 23) and Let s Sail Away! (July 30) Reservations are recommended. Call Global Wine Tasting Calling All Artists We re in the early stages of planning a September art and wine event for members. If you or someone you know has artistic talent and wishes to showcase the work at such an event, please contact Susan at Join fellow members on Thursday, July 31 from 5-7 p.m. for another in the popular series of global wine tastings. This month, we ll compare a delightful selection of wines from Australia and New Zealand. Hors d oeuvres prepared by Chef Tim will complement the regional differences and enhance the wines. It s here that EFYCC member families are encouraged to bring non-member families for a fun and social evening. Adults will enjoy Happy Hour prices on beverages while the kids enjoy splashing in the pool under the watchful eye of a lifeguard. Complimentary light hors d oeuvres and live entertainment will be featured. The Wheel House Café will serve casual fare and will be accepting cash or credit cards from guests. Surf and Turf Night The next Surf and Turf Night is scheduled for Saturday, July 26 from 5 9 p.m. in the Mansion. YAPPY HOUR We re throwing a Tropical Paradise Poolside Party on Friday, August 1 from 6 9 p.m. and friends, family and guests are all invited! For those 18 yrs. and older, party central is the Adult Pool. It s here that all, dressed in their best island attire will enjoy tropical inspired food and drink, island music and limbo fun. And bring a swimsuit as the pool is the perfect refresher. For those 17 yrs. and under, it s the Family pool where, along with great food, the Cub s Den staff will entertain with games, activities and swimming fun. With the gardens as a backdrop, members and their K-9 companions will be gathering at the Mansion s back patio on Thursday, July 31 from 5-7 p.m. for a Yappy Hour celebration. 5 Club Happenings WINE DINNER: Blends of Napa Valley On Thursday evening, July 17, Epping Forest will host another member Wine Dinner, this time showcasing the imaginative blends of Row Eleven Winery in Napa Valley, California. Featured will be three delightful dining courses, each paired with an appropriately selected Row Eleven wine. While the Chef educates all on his food preparation techniques, Craig Boggs of Row Eleven Winery, will personally share his knowledge and describe in detail the flavor notes and nuances of each presented blend. The 7 p.m. dinner is preceded by a 6:30 p.m. reception. Back Pack and School Supply Drive In concert with the Northeast Florida Chapter of the National Association of Catering and Events, EFYCC will be conducting a Back-to-School Back Pack and School Supply Donation Drive in support of needy children in the Duval County Schools. 7 Tennis News Summer tennis camps for juniors are underway! It s here that juniors (ages 5-12) are learning the game of tennis in a fun and supportive environment. TENNIS TIP: Watch Your Ball Toss From Joe Perrone, Director of Tennis Epping Forest Yacht & Country Club Are you serving into the net with regularity? Perhaps you are making contact with the ball too far in front of yourself. Try tossing the ball less far forward and lean in more just before the swing. Also, if you toss the ball much higher than your point of contact, it will produce a downward vector as it descends toward your racket. Need additional assistance with your game? Call Joe at to schedule a lesson. Summer Clinic Schedule for Ladies Ladies, here s a great chance to work on your game in advance of the coming fall league season. Director of Tennis Joe Perrone and his assistant professionals are conducting clinics throughout the summer months. Each two hour clinic is focusing on shot making and strategy. The schedule is as follows: A Level 9-11 a.m. (Monday), B-Level 9-11 a.m. (Tuesday) and C-Level 9-11 a.m. (Wednesday). Each clinic is priced at $25. Deanna Holland An Invitation to Working Women Here s a class for those gals whose time is committed from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. but still wish to learn tennis or improve their game. The Working Women s Tennis Clinic offered every Thursday from 6:30-8 p.m., provides instruction on all aspects of the game. On-court drills will emphasize proper strokes, footwork and strategy all leading to actual games. Each 90-minute clinic is priced at $20 per person. 8 Fitness News MELT Method Health Seminar & Class Join us on Monday, July 7 at 10 a.m. in the Mansion for a health seminar specializing in the new art of self-care. The MELT Method (featured on Doctor Oz) is a self-treatment technique that helps people get out and stay out of chronic pain in just ten minutes a day. By learning MELT techniques, you can better manage daily stress and increase vitality and energy. $25 per person. Those who have taken the seminar are invited to participate in the MELT Method class scheduled for Thursday, July 10 at 6:30 p.m. $20 per person. Pilates Reformer Class Join Jennifer Barry as she will be leading two Pilates Reformer Classes every Sunday in July (10:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.) Each class is limited to the first four registrants ensuring personalized attention. Barre Fitness We re adding another Barre Fitness class to the weekly schedule! Call the Fitness Center at to register. Spinning News In response to member demand, the Fitness Center is adding another Spinning Class to the weekly calendar. The 60-minute class led by Kristen will be held in Studio A every Monday at 6 p.m. Expect an intense cardiovascular workout designed to simulate the physical rigors of the outdoor cycling experience. The cost is $3 per person. SUP Classes The fun and thrill of Stand-Up Paddle Boarding (SUP) is catching on at Epping Forest! Classes (limited to10 persons) and priced at $45 per person are conducted every Sunday at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. at the Marina by the experts at Black Creek Outfitters. Reservations must be made by 6 p.m. Saturday before the class by calling the Fitness Center at

9 Fitness News Aqua Aerobics Join Beth in the Clover Leaf Pool every Wednesday at 9:10 a.m. for an Aqua Aerobics Class. This 60-minute nonimpact workout offers fun, shallow-water movements to improve agility, flexibility, balance and coordination while addressing cardiovascular, strength and endurance conditioning. The class is complimentary. Sunday FUNDay at the Family Pool Every Sunday from 1-4 p.m., all members are invited to a FUN afternoon at the Family Pool. Between cannonballs and belly flops, all can dine poolside enjoying the Wheel House s casual menu of salads, sandwiches and summer-themed beverages. Also, live music will add to the excitement! Hounds in a Hurry Meet at the Fitness Center at 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 31 as Kacie Cobb and her pup leads EFYCC members and their pups on a walking tour around the property. Good cardio, good camaraderie and good fun! Remember that Yappy Hour starts at 5 p.m. at the Mansion s outdoor terrace. On the Docks Summer Sailing Camps The Summer Sailing Camps for Juniors continue into summer with popularity. Juniors (ages 8-17) are learning the thrill of sailing while enjoying such fun activities as treasure hunts, swimming and more. Experienced sailors will explore the river, learn advanced techniques (like sailing backwards) and participate in sailboat racing. More information is available at Jessie Ball Regatta Last month, female sailors from throughout northeast Florida gathered at EFYCC to compete in the prestigious Jessie Ball Regatta. 11 Kids Corner Tween Night On Saturday, July 12 from 6-9 p.m., Tweens (ages yrs.) will again gather in the Wheel House Café to enjoy an evening with friends. Expect indoor and outdoor fun, music, and games such as corn hole, ladder ball, Wii, ping pong and giant jenga. A summer cookout menu of hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and fruit will also be featured. TWEEN ALERT: Bring a swim suit and enjoy the new Waterslide. Saturday Night Fun The theme of the next Saturday Night Out for Kids on July 26 is Country Western Night. It s here that kids (ages 4-12) will participate in fun country western themed games and activities. They will also decorate their own bandanas to take home. Girls will make country western charm bracelets. A dinner of chicken fingers, beverage and dessert will be served. 6:30-10 p.m. in the Cub s Den. Summer Camp for Kids Reservations are now being accepted for the weeks of July 7-11 and July as the Cub s Den continues with its popular Summer Camp series. It s here that children (ages 4-12) will enjoy a variety of organized games, recreational activities, swimming and arts and crafts. Parents may select from a full-day or half-day session. From Noon to 4 p.m., expect such fun games and activities as Boat Rides, Build Your Own Boat Relay, Balloon Toss, Potato Sac Race, Tug of War and much more.
