3 FROM THE DESK OF GROUP MD We were off to a great and busy start in 2016 with our Valued Partners being involved in a whirlwind of activities. Staying true to our commitment in doing business successfully and responsibly, we embarked on various environmental conservation initiatives throughout this quarter. Our teams in Kuching and Bintulu participated in activities including tree planting in areas plagued by illegal logging, while our Miri fire-fighting team members had their hands full in helping to fight bush fires there. Environmental conservation should and must be everyone s responsibility so that we can help ensure a better world of generations to come. To all Naim volunteers involved in such activities keep up the good work! It was also a busy time for our Property teams when they ushered in the Chinese New year with new property launches and fun celebratory events. In addition, the teams intensified their market outreach by participating in various property expos and roadshows. We wish the Property teams all the best in 2016! 4 CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY 2 NAIM AIDS CHINESE SCHOOL: PARTICIPATES IN SJK CHUNG HUA NO.4 S CHARITY SALE 16 January 2016 More than 20 of our staff members spent a meaningful Saturday when they participated in a charity sale in aid of SJK Chung Hua No. 4 Chinese primary school in Kuching. Held at the Dewan Masyarakat in Kuching, our staff sold an array of products which included cookies, packed drinks, snacks and local delicacies. We managed to raise about RM4,000 from the sale. Organisers handing over certificates of appreciation to Cecelia One for the album Our volunteers busy at our stall NAIM LENDS A HAND TO CREATE A GREENER KUCHING: JOINS DBKU S TREE PLANTING EVENT 6 March 2016 Great day, great fun! More than 20 of our staff members had a fun time when they participated in a tree planting event at the Wisma Bapa Malaysia s Family Park, organized by the Dewan Bandaraya Kuching Utara (DBKU) in conjunction with the National Landscape Day The event was off to a healthy start with an exciting zumba session, followed by the tree planting activity. Our volunteers managed to plant more than 50 trees during the event. Lending Mother Nature a hand

5 CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY 3 NAIM REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT IN ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION: PARTICIPATES IN WORLD WETLANDS DAY CELEBRATION 25 February 2016 We participated in the World Wetlands Celebration event at Kampung Salak, a village located near Santubong, Kuching. Organised by the Forest Department Sarawak (FDS), the event sought to demonstrate the vital role of wetlands in the ecosystem and for the future of humanity. The event also saw the planting of Gaharu trees at the event venue. Event in progress Let us do our bit for our wetlands! NAIM SAYS NO TO AEDES: ORGANISES GOTONG-ROYONG EVENT 16 March 2016 Our Permy Mall team organized a gotong-royong event to raise awareness on the danger of Aedes mosquitoes and as part of its efforts to fight Aedes. More than 15 staff members embarked on an intensive half day drainage clearing and cleaning works at the Mall and its surrounds. Our team hard at work Tiring but meaningful day

6 CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY 4 NAIM PROMOTES REDUCE, REUSE AND RECYCLE: ORGANISES 3R S PROGRAMME 27 February 2016 Our Bintulu Office organized a programme known as the 3R at our Bintulu Paragon integrated development in an effort to raise awareness on the importance of 3R s Reduce, Reuse and Recycle towards environmental conservation. All smiles: Our team and representatives from Tzu Chi Foundation Bintulu Jointly organized with the Tzu Chi Foundation, an international humanitarian organization and NGO focusing on various charitable causes, the half day event featured a talk on the concept of 3Rs and ways in which these can be practiced in our daily lives. We also embarked on the collection of recyclable materials in conjunction with the event. The event was well-received by members of the Bintulu community. Collection of recycled items in progress NAIM AIDS KIDNEY PATIENTS: CONTRIBUTES A HAEMODIALYSIS MACHINE TO BINTULU HOSPITAL 23 March 2016 In our effort to assist the increasing number of kidney patients in Sarawak, we contributed a haemodialysis machine to the Bintulu Hospital s Haemodialysis Unit. The contribution was also made in conjunction with our Group s 20th Anniversary Celebration which commenced in October The machine was handed over by our Senior Project Director, Richard Sim to the Hospital Director, Dr Davis Johnraj. NAIM GOES GREEN : ORGANISES TREE PLANTING EVENT IN BINTULU 26 March 2016 It was a fun and educational experience when over 35 our Bintulu staff members took part in a tree planting activity at the Similajau National Park (SNP), Bintulu. The activity formed part of our collaboration with the Forest Department Sarawak (FDS) for an environment conservation and awareness programme, commencing in The 8,996 hectare SNP was gazetted in 1976, it features beautiful coastline and dense forest. However over the time, it became the target of illegal logging activities. As such, efforts were required to re-plant the trees to preserve the national park. It was a job well done when we managed to plant 200 Bintangor Laut and Rhu Laut tree seedlings in the national park within 20 minutes due to great teamwork. 8 CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY 6 Naim joined forces with the Sarawak Assistant Ministers and Ministers Wives Welfare Association (SABATI) and the Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) in organizing a tree planting event to raise awareness on the importance of preserving a green environment. The event, which was held at our Bintulu Paragon s boulevard area, was also organized in conjunction with the World Landscape Day The Guest of Honour for the event was YABhg. Our hardworking Bintulu team with Lau Keat Hoo & Caroline Yeo NAIM JOINS FORCES WITH SABATI IN GREEN CAUSE: JOINTLY ORGANISE TREE PLANTING EVENT 3 March 2016 The event saw more than 600 participants comprising members of 35 non-profit organisations from Bintulu, SABATI members, representatives from BDA and Naim senior staff. YABhg. Datin Patinggi Dato Hajah Jamilah launching the event NAIM CARES FOR THE ENVIRONMENT: FIGHTS BUSHFIRES IN MIRI Feb Mac 2016 When the going gets tough, the tough gets going. Such was the attitude of our Miri firefighting team as it sprang into action to help put out bushfires in Kuala Baram. The team which comprised 26 staff volunteers was deployed to various sites to help the authorities put out the bushfires. Our firefighting team was formed 10 years ago as part of our Group s corporate social responsibility initiatives. The team conducts regular inspections and patrols not only at our development site but its surrounding area. The frequency of these patrols increases during the dry season due to high possibilities of wild fires in the area. Way to go Naim volunteers! Besides basic firefighting equipment, a drone was used to monitor surrounding areas, and has added value to our firefighting operations, especially in terms of emergency responses.

9 CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY 7 What a night: Our valued Partners at the Earth Hour event NAIM SUPPORTS SUSTAINABLE LIVING: PARTICIPATES IN EARTH HOUR ILLUMINATED WALK March 2016 As a re-affirmation of our Group s commitment towards sustainable living, more than 25 of our staff members participated in the Earth Hour Illuminated Walk 2016 (EHIW) organized by Majlis Bandaraya Kuching Selatan (MBKS) in conjunction with the global Earth Hour celebration. The event featured various fun activities and entertainment such as zumba session, performances by local artistes and exciting night walk from the Kuching Waterfront s Square Tower to the Sarawak Chinese Museum. Datin Patinggi Dato Hajah Jamilah NAIM LENDS A HAND TO EYE PATIENTS: CONTRIBUTES RM200,000 FOR PURCHASE OF OPHTHALMOLOGY EQUIPMENT 15 March 2016 In our effort to help eye patients, we contributed RM200,000 to the Sarawak General Hospital for the purchase of the Indirect Laser and B-Scan equipment used for paediatricopthalmology surgeries. The mock cheque for the contribution was handed over during a simple ceremony by Naim s Board Member, Datu (Dr) Haji Abdul Rashid Bin Mohd Azis to the Hospital Director, Dr Chin Zin Hing, witnessed by YABhg. Datin Patinggi Dato Hajah Jamilah Bt Haji Anu. YABhg. Datin Patinggi Dato Hajah Jamilah said the contribution would go a long way in helping patients from Sarawak in obtaining such treatments. I understand that the contribution was the result of Naim s 20th anniversary charity fund raising during the Group s anniversary dinner in Miri last year, during which our Chief Minister rendered a few songs in the spirit of charity. With these equipment, our rakyat will be able to obtain such quality treatments in Sarawak, without having to spend additional expenses for these treatments outside the State, Jamilah remarked.

10 CORPORATE DIARY 8 NAIM ORGANISES GROUP MD S MEET & GREET WITH NEW RECRUITS 13 January 2016 More than 20 new staff members had a chance to meet with our Group Managing Director, Datuk Hasmi Hasnan in a meet and greet event held at Wisma Naim, Kuching. During the event, Datuk Hasmi welcomed the new members and shared his vision for the Group and words of wisdom with the audience. The session also served as an excellent platform for exchange of ideas and to foster good working relationship between staff members and the Management. Held at Bintulu Paragon and the Naim Clubhouse in Miri respectively, the sessions served as platforms to share Group-related information such as financial performance and other relevant operational issues. 11 CORPORATE DIARY 9 NAIM HOSTS DIRECTORS WALK- ABOUT AT SAPPHIRE ON THE PARK SITE 26 February 2016 We organized a walk-about for our Board Members at the Sapphire On The Park condominium building site to update our Board Members on the construction status of the project. During the visit, the Board Members were briefed on progress of works and the wide range of lifestyle-related facilities available at the condominium. Our Board Members at the Sapphire On The Park construction site Board Members happy with the work progress NAIM PARTICIPATES IN SCaT FAIR March 2016 As part of our recruitment initiatives, our Human Resource Department participated in the Sarawak Career and Training (SCaT) Fair 2016 held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching. Held for four years running, the fair aimed to bring job, education and training opportunities, and avenues for financial aid to graduates and school leavers. The fair saw about 600 people patronising our booth this year. 12 FEATURES 10 USHERING IN THE YEAR OF THE GOLDEN MONKEY, THE NAIM WAY 10 February 2016 Our Property Division had a busy Chinese New Year as it ushered in the Year of the Golden Monkey with host of exciting events and great Ang Pow giveaways. Leading the event line up was Miri s Chinese New Year celebration held at the Naim SouthLake Permyjaya. The event highlight was the launch of its much-awaited River Dale detached lots. Located within the scenic SouthLake Permyjaya development zone and right beside a 30-acre lake, the River Dale detached lots allowed one to build his or her dream home on one s home ground, within a serene and secured environment. Besides the launch, other event highlights included entertaining Chinese cultural dance and 24-season drum performances, special appearances by the Monkey God and God of Prosperity and Ang Pow giveaways for children. Miri s celebration off to a great start! Over in Bintulu, we organized a Chinese New Year Mini Bazaar and featured exciting games session, the Magic Comedian performance and many other fun activities at the Bintulu Paragon integrated development. In addition, we also launched our Small Office Versatile Office (SOVO) Block B in conjunction with the festivities. Meanwhile in Kuching, the highlight of the event was undeniably the launch of Block A2 of Sapphire On The Park condominium development, a component within the Kuching Paragon integrated development. Members of the public were also enthralled by performance by Esther Thian, Winner of the Astro Star Quest 2013 and Richard Lee, a celebrated guitarist. Other exciting event line-up included an insightful Feng Shui talk by renowned Feng Shui Master, Master Soon and a whopping RM10,888 cash prizes for interactive games. 14 SALES & MARKETING 12 Naim Organises Feng Shui Talk 22 January 2016 Our Bintulu Office hosted a Feng Shui talk by renowned Feng Shui Master, Datuk Paduka Master Koh entitled Chinese Feng Shui Guide More than 100 people attended the talk, which was held at our Bintulu Paragon Sales Gallery. Among the areas covered included overall Feng Shui for 2016, Chinese zodiac predictions and Feng Shui home decorating ideas. Members of the public also took the opportunity to find out more about Bintulu Paragon s exciting development components. Audience at the feng shui talk event Naim Kuching s First Time Home Buyer Seminar Receives Good Response 26 March 2016 We organized the one-day First Time Home Buyer seminar at our Kuching Sales Gallery in a bid to educate would-be home owners on various aspects of home ownership. Dubbed as a one-stop platform on issues relating to first home ownership, the seminar featured talks by representatives from EPF, banks, lawyers and other professionals on wide range of topics, including ways to fund property down payments, the pitfalls to avoid when one buys their first home, choosing the best funding options and many more.
