3 Back to our Roots SACRAMENTO FOHBC 2016 National Antique Bottle Convention & Expo August 04 - August 07, 2016 Sacramento, California The Western Region of the Federation of Historical Bottle Collectors (FOHBC) would like to extend you a warm welcome to our 2016 FOHBC National Antique Bottle Convention & Expo in Sacramento, California. Sacramento, in 1969, was the birthplace of the Federation of Historical Bottle Clubs, later named the Federation of Historical Bottle Collectors. The national show is open to all persons regardless if you are a Federation member or not. Memberships will be available throughout the event which we strongly encourage. McClellan Conference Center THE VENUES The event will be held at the privately owned McClellan Conference Center at the decommissioned McClellan Air Force Base, 5411 Luce Avenue, McClellan Park, California McClellan Air Force Base ( ) is a former United States Air Force base located in the North Highlands area of Sacramento County, 7 miles northeast of Sacramento, California and 20 minutes from Sacramento International Airport. For the vast majority of its operational lifetime, McClellan was a logistics and maintenance facility for a wide variety of military aircraft, equipment and supplies, primarily under the cognizance of the Air Force Logistics Command (AFLC) and later the Air Force Material Command (AFMC). McClellan Airfield is also the home of the Aerospace Museum of California. The museum itself was originally set up as the McClellan Aviation Museum in 1986 (before the McClellan AFB closed). It was chartered by the National Museum of the United States Air Force and in 2005 it changed its name to the California Aerospace Museum. Lions Gate Hotel The host hotel will be the Lions Gate Hotel which is in conjunction with the McClellan Conference Center, 3410 Westover Street, McClellan Park, California The Lions Gate Hotel is both pet friendly and 100 percent non-smoking and located just off I-80 between Sacramento and Roseville, only 20 minutes east of Sacramento International Airport. This will be a very unique venue due to the history of the base. A unique combination of historic charm and modern-day amenities graces Northeast Sacramento s only luxury historic hotel. There are officer homes, executive suites, 1 and 2 bedroom suites and standard rooms available. Rooms are $99 for a standard room, 1 and 2 bedroom suites, and $119 for executive suites. The homes are priced according to the amount of rooms they have. There are 1, 2 and 3 bedroom homes. They are $99 a bedroom. Get your reservations early for there are only 122 available rooms which include the homes and suites. In the event that we sell out at the Lions Gate Hotel, we are contracted with two other hotels in the area in which you will be given the same rate with free shuttle to and from the convention center and hotel. There is an airport shuttle for $15 per person, $25 round-trip. There is complimentary hotel guest parking and shuttle service to the McClellan Conference Center. Guests can call , 24 hours a day to book a room. They simply need to state that they are with the Bottle Collectors group to receive the discounted room rate and be placed in the room block. Guests can also book, any time, with the online reservation link on the FOHBC web site, FOHBC.org 2

Dealer Tables DEALERS There will be 235 (+/-) dealer tables available. There is a limit of two (2) tables per dealer. Reservations and table locations will be available on a first received - first served basis. Contracts will be available on-line on 25 July 2015 and in person on 31 July 2015 at the FOHBC 2015 Chattanooga National Antique Bottle Show. Tables are 8 feet long and 30 inches wide. Table covers will be provided. Every attempt will be made to honor table location requests. Tables will be assigned based upon the date the contract was received. The show chairpersons will have final say on table assignments. The first 8 foot table will be $85. If you desire a second table, it will be $75. FOHBC members will get a $10 discount per contract for the first table only. Up to two name-tag badges per contract will be provided (regardless of the number of tables per contract) with the exception of minor children. Please make arrangements for children s name tags in advance. Subletting a table to another dealer or individual is prohibited. At least 75% of your sales table shall be antique bottles, jars, blown glass insulators, stoneware, marbles, related advertising, and new items to assist in the hobby. No flea market type items. All merchandise must be clearly priced. Reproductions, fake labels, repaired, coated, artificially colored, or irradiated glass must be clearly marked as such. Requests for refunds must be made by 15 July Refunds for circumstances outside your control, after that time, will be at the discretion of the show chairpersons. Your contract for sales tables, display reservations, early admission, banquet reservations will be confirmed by or USPS return mail following receipt of your contract and full payment. Full payment must be sent with your contract. There are no reservations without payment. See Page 11 for Dealer Contract. Dealer Loading and Unloading You may use the McClellan Convention Center s rear entrance to load and unload your boxes and your vehicle must be moved immediately afterwards to allow for the next person to unload/load their vehicle. Please try and have your assistant with you during this time so they can stay with your inventory to make this process run quickly and smoothly. The rear entrance will remain closed and locked during all show hours. Access to the showroom floor, during show hours, will only be through the front showroom doors. Badges must be worn. The McClellan Convention Center s front door may be used for small amounts of loading and unloading. Unloading will be on Friday, August 5th from 7:00 am to 12:00 noon. During this time, dealers will be permitted to unload their merchandise and place it in the show area behind or under their sales table(s). Shelving, lighting, and banners may be set up at this time. All items for sale must be kept in closed boxes. No sales are allowed during the unloading period. All day free parking is available. On Friday, August 5th, everyone except exhibitors setting up displays, will be cleared out of the showroom at noon time. The room will be closed from 12:00 noon until 1:00 pm for final show preparation. All dealers will be admitted into the showroom promptly at 1:00 pm to allow them to arrive at their tables for setup ahead of the early admission group. Early admission will be allowed in immediately behind the dealers. Your own Dealer/Early Admission name-tag badge must be worn visibly to gain access to the showroom. Set-up will end at 5:00 pm, and everyone must be out at that time. Generals House Reception SPECIAL MEMBER & PUBLIC EVENTS There will be an American Bottle Auctions and Peachridge Glass sponsored open house reception at the historic Lions Gate Hotel Generals House on Thursday evening, August 4th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. This event is for dealers who have bought tables, their assistants, displayers, seminar givers and those with early admission passes. There will be a cash bar and dinner catering for all the guests. This event occurs prior to the Sacramento Shootout which will be held at the Lions Gate Hotel Club Ballroom. 3

5 Sacramento Shootout The Sacramento Shootout bottle competition will be held at the Lions Gate Hotel Club Ballroom on Thursday evening, 04 August after the Generals House Reception. There will be three (3) categories. Each category will have three (3) judges. The categories are Jesse Moore Sole Agent (cylinder fifths), U.S.A. Hosp. Dept. quarts and Hostetter s Bitters (limit 4 entries per competitor). See Page 14 for Sacramento Shootout form. FOHBC Membership Meeting Breakfast The FOHBC will be hosting its 2nd annual FOHBC General Membership Meeting Breakfast at the Lions Gate Hotel Patio. This event is free and only for current paid up FOHBC members. Come hear the latest news and goals of your Federation. There will be a buffet breakfast that starts at 7:00 am. The meeting will start promptly at 7:30 am. Seminars Six (6) seminars will be presented by prominent collectors on various collecting topics in the Lions Gate Hotel on Friday morning, August 6th, from 9:00 am until 12:00 noon in Club Ballrooms A & B. The seminars will include: 1) Michael Seeliger with Mike & Kathy Craig - Warner Safe Bottles and Products, 2) Steve Ketcham - Red Wing Pottery, 3) Thomas Jacobs - The A.W. The early admission fee will be $60 for individuals or a family couple (including minor children). This price includes a complimentary souvenir program. Discounted cost for early admission to national conventions is another privilege of FOHBC membership. The discounted rate for current paid up Federation members is $45. See Page 11 for Early Admission form. Displays The FOHBC encourages collectors to share their knowledge, enthusiasm and interests with other collectors by displaying their collections or related material. There will be no charge for exhibitor displays. Those setting up a display will be provided a free early admission pass, which will allow full show privileges to them, their spouse, and minor children. Exhibitors may set up their displays from 7:00 am to noon on Friday, August 5th. Tables with white cloth table covers are available at no charge. The displayer must supply their own extension cord and accent lighting as power will be provided if needed, at no charge. See Page 13 for Display form. The FOHBC Banquet The FOHBC Banquet will be held on Friday evening, August 5th from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the Lions Gate Hotel Club Ballroom. You do not have to be an FOHBC member to attend. A cash bar will be available for sodas and/or alcoholic beverages. The cost of the banquet will be $35 per person. Reservations will be available on a first come basis. Betty Zumwalt, renowned antique bottle and glass authority and author, FOHBC 2008 Hall of Fame inductee, will be the guest speaker. Awards will be presented for the annual member club newsletter, poster or show flyer, article and website winners who have earned special recognition in the past year. FOHBC Hall of Fame and Honor Roll awards will be announced. There will be a special prize drawing for a $100 gift certificate to be spent at the show. The winner for the hat contest will also be announced. See Page 11 for Banquet form. Live Auction The FOHBC Live Auction will be conducted at the Lions Gate Hotel Club Ballroom on Saturday evening, August 6th. Auction lot preview will start at 5:30 pm. The auction will begin at 7:00 pm. Online bidding will be available prior to the show. The auctioneer will be determined. Cancellations Requests for refunds must be made by 15 July Refunds for circumstances outside your control, after that time, will be at the discretion of the show chairpersons. 4

6 Food The McClellan Convention Center has the Coffee Hangar which is open Monday - Friday 6:00 am to 6:00 pm and during the Federation Show on the weekend. Their friendly Baristas are proudly serving award winning Temple Coffee and specialty drinks, in this newly added coffee shop. The Coffee Hangar has a variety of seating available, table for two or 20. Stop in and surf the web or watch one of our multiple flat screen displays. Grab a coffee or beer and listen to some music on the patio. The Coffee Hangar is the perfect spot for a quick meeting or friendly gathering. There are other food destinations within McClellan Business Park. Dine at the O Club at the Lions Gate Hotel which has some of the finest dining in Sacramento. Enjoy locally sourced ingredients elevated into fine dining by Chef John Carrier at their critically acclaimed onsite restaurant and lounge. The lounge at O Club features pub style appetizers and mouth-watering entrées. Parking Parking is free for Lions Gate Hotel guests and visitors. Parking is free at the McClellan Convention Center. Tax The tax rate in California is 8.5%. Dealers must get a temporary resale number on-line at at the California State Board of Equalization. Dealers will need one to sell at the convention and expo. The shows promoters are held responsible to see that everyone that sells at the event has a resale number. It does not cost anything to get one. SECURITY Throughout the FOHBC 2016 Sacramento Antique Bottle Convention & Expo, Sacramento chairpersons, the FOHBC board of directors and show officials will have the most accurate, up-to-date show schedule information which will also be on the FOHBC web site. If changes in the schedule occur, public announcements will be made on the showroom floor. Every effort will be made to safeguard the sales and display areas. Security guards will be on duty at all times during the unloading period, the show, after show hours and the loading period. There will be signage prominently displayed at the McClellan Convention Center entrance and registration area stating All boxes, tote bags and any other carry-in items are subject to a search at any time while attending the show. There will be signage at entry areas and registration stating that the FOHBC reserves the right to refuse access to the show for any reason, at any time. Security announcements reminding dealers of their responsibility to oversee their tables and protect their merchandise will be made. Security volunteers will walk the sales floor during show hours. Be aware that the most vulnerable times for theft are at set-up and end of show periods. Show officials and security will monitor and require dealers and attendees to evacuate the room promptly at the end of each day. There will be sufficient security for displays at all times. Security will be provided during the Sacramento Shootout bottle competition. POLICY Dealer, early admission, show official and general attendee name tag badges must be worn and checked before entering the show. There will be no giving/sharing of name tag badges to individuals not listed on a sales table contract. Anyone found in the show area without a proper badge will not be allowed to remain. The FOHBC reserves the right to refuse anyone a sales table including assistants, early admissions, or general admissions to the show at any time for any reason. Any persons working and or helping with the show will be given an official show name tag badge. The FOHBC, its officers, or agents assume no liability or responsibility for any lost, stolen or damaged merchandise. Decisions concerning any circumstances not outlined in the Sacramento National Convention & Expo packet will be made by the show chairpersons or Federation president. Your contract for sales tables, display reservations, early admission, banquet reservations, and souvenir program will be confirmed by or USPS return mail following receipt of contract and full payment. Full payment must be sent with your contract. There are no reservations without payment. The Lions Gate Hotel and McClellan Convention Center are non-smoking facilities. We ask your cooperation in abiding by their rules and regulations. 5

13 CONTRACT TERMS As used herein, the SHOW shall mean that certain annual event sponsored by the FOHBC in conjunction with the Lions Gate Hotel and McClellan Convention Center. General: The acceptance of this reservation by the FOHBC is conditional upon the acceptance of the DEALER to be bound by the terms of this agreement and the terms of the agreement that FOHBC has with Lions Gate Hotel and McClellan Convention Center for SHOW space. 2. Definitions: a) Set-up. Time period provided to DEALER to unload and display wares on leased tables in preparation for the SHOW. b) Pack-up. Time period provided to DEALER to remove unsold wares from the SHOW premises. It is a specific condition that DEALER may not remove such wares prior to 3:00 pm on Sunday, August 7th. c) Early Admission. For an additional fee of $60, the FOHBC will allow entry of buyers on Friday during SETUP. This price includes a Family Couple (including minor children) and a Souvenir Program. For this reason DEALER is encouraged to take adequate measure to secure wares during SET-UP. 3. DEALER is solely responsible for insuring that his or her table(s) is attended AT ALL TIMES during show hours. Further, no property of DEALER shall at any time be deemed in the care, custody or control of FOHBC or any other party other than DEALER. DEALER MAY NOT SHARE OR FURTHER SUBLEASE ANY TABLE(S) without the Express written consent of the FOHBC. 4. FOHBC will secure any necessary permit and licenses to sell at this SHOW and DEALER shall be solely responsible for the collection and remittance of any sales/use taxes to the proper authorities. 5. As a part of this agreement, DEALER hereby expressly assumes the responsibility for any lost, damaged, or stolen wares and DEALER expressly agrees to hold FOHBC harmless from any such claims, however styled, and DEALER shall pay all costs and expenses incurred in connection with such claims. DEALER is strongly advised to take extraordinary precautions to secure and/or protect any valuable items from the period of set-up to pack-up. DEALER also agrees that it will indemnify and save harmless FOHBC, any individual member, or volunteers from and against any and all claims, actions, damages, liability, and expenses in connection with the loss of life, personal injury and property damages arising from any act or omission of DEALER occurring during the period in which DEALER is preparing for, participating in or concluding the event. 6. DEALER understands that due to the nature of collectibles involved, all reproduction, repaired or otherwise altered wares, must be clearly labeled, offered and/or sold as such. 7. DEALER further understands that ANY violation of this agreement by DEALER or any action(s) by DEALER that would violate the FOHBC agreement with the Lions Gate Hotel and McClellan Convention Center shall be cause for DEALER to be ejected from this SHOW and same will be grounds for prohibiting DEALER from participating in future shows sponsored by the FOHBC. 8. DEALER agrees that FOHBC shall not be responsible for matters outside of its control and the liability of the FOHBC in any case shall be limited to the refund of any monies paid by DEALER to FOHBC for this SHOW. 9. The FOHBC reserves the right to refuse a sales table, any assistant on a sales table, early admission, or general attendance admission to the show for any reason at any time. 14 DISPLAY APPLICATION Displays The FOHBC encourages collectors to share their knowledge, enthusiasm and interests with other collectors by displaying their collections or related material. There will be no charge for exhibitor displays. Those setting up a display will be provided a free early admission pass, which will allow full show privileges to them, their spouse, and minor children. Exhibitors may set up their displays from 7:00 am to noon on Friday, August 5th. Tables with white cloth table covers are available at no charge. The displayer must supply their own extension cord and accent lighting as power will be provided if needed, at no charge.
