3 Invitation Dear AMAN UNION Members and Guests, AMAN UNION has the pleasure to welcome you to its Third Annual Meeting to be hosted by Export-Import Bank of Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, between the 20th and 22nd of November The Meeting will bring together in addition to members of the Union, experts from different industries, including credit and political risk insurance, reinsurance, banking, and credit information, to share their knowledge, ideas and experience. 5 Logo Rationale The logo represents the colour combination of AMAN Union and EXIM Bank of Malaysia, red and green and red and blue respectively, reflecting close association between the two entities in staging the meeting to benefit members. The five red lines represent the five major objectives of AMAN Union formulated at the beginning of the establishment of the Union. The crescent represents AMAN Union Member Countries of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC). 21 General Information USEFUL INFORMATION COUNTRY GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION The Federation of Malaysia comprises Peninsula Malaysia, the states of Sabah and Sarawak on the island of Borneo (also known as East Malaysia), and deep-sea anchorage Labuan. Located between 2 and 7 north of the Equator, Peninsula Malaysia is separated from the states of Sabah and Sarawak by the South China Sea. To the north of Peninsula Malaysia is Thailand while its southern neighbor is Singapore. Sabah and Sarawak are north of Indonesia in Borneo while Sarawak also shares a border with Brunei. 22 General Information USEFUL INFORMATION GOVERNMENT CLIMATE TIME ZONE CURRENCY Malaysia is governed by a Parliamentary democracy with a bicameral legislative system. The Head of State is the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong, a position that is awarded to a different State Monarch every five years and the Head of Government is the Prime Minister Tropical climate with warm weather all year round. Temperatures in the lowlands range from 21 C (70 F) to 32 C (90 F). The highlands are cooler, where temperatures range between 15 C (59 F) to 25 C (77 F). Annual rainfall varies from 2,000mm to 2,500mm. Minimum Maximum November 23ºC 31ºC Standard Malaysian Time is UTC/GMT +8 hours for both East & West Malaysia.
