7 Sports Corner with Elgene Welcome to July, everyone. And Happy 150th birthday, Canada!! This is the month where the contenders and pretenders in baseball are separated. By the end of this month, we will know if the Jays will be making another post season run or will be trading for the future. Sticking with the Blue Jays, Justin Smoak is having a career year and is on the verge of making his first all star team. Fans can vote for him online at bluejays.com. Let's try to get him in. Switching gears to hockey and basketball, both the Leafs and Raptors have gotten better. The Leafs took offensive defenseman Timothy Liljegren. According to scouts, he is possibly the steal of the draft. Meanwhile, the Raptors took OG Anunoby. He is a shut down defender with a lot of upside. Look for both these players to make a big impact in the not too distant future. Well folks, that's it for now. See u in August.
