1 EVENT PROGRAM 5-9 JULY, 2017 PINE RIVERS NETBALL ASSOCIATION
2 WELCOME FROM THE CHAIR OF THE BOARD It is my privilege to welcome you to the 2017 Nissan State Age Championship in the lovely Moreton Bay region. This year State Age will welcome a record 233 teams across an extended five-day competition. I would like to thank Pine Rivers Netball Association on their tremendous effort in hosting the event on their newly renovated courts and providing the staff and volunteers required to ensure its success. I would also like to acknowledge the many netball associations who have travelled across Queensland to participate. Your continued passion and support lay the foundation for memories that will last these young players a lifetime. Thank you to Moreton Bay Regional Council for their support bringing State Age to Pine Rivers and to the Queensland Government for funding infrastructure improvements, player development initiatives and official development programs for many of our members. We are very excited about start of construction at our State Governmentfunded State Home of Netball facility that will allow our athletes, officials and administrators the opportunity to advance of our wonderful game. Many thanks also to Netball Queensland s State Events Committee for ensuring our 2017 event is a resounding success. Finally, best of luck to all teams and their supporters this week. I hope the thrill of your time on court is matched by the fun and friendships you experience off it. All the best, 2 Jane Seawright Chair of the Board, Netball Queensland

17 RISK MANAGEMENT PROMPTER FOR THE 2017 NISSAN STATE AGE CHAMPIONSHIPS In the interest of keeping all teams and supporters safe during the championships and to remind everybody that all attendees have moral and legislative obligations, it is important to assess the safety of your actions and how they affect others. Let s keep these Championships safe for everyone. Tent City Player s Area Tents are for players, officials and medical personnel only. Parents are not permitted to occupy any player or sports medicine area. Walkways are to be keep clear at all times. NO cooking of any kind is permitted inside any tent. No person or association may alter, change or interfere with the structure of any tent. Tampering with another association s belongings is strictly prohibited. Adequate first aid facilities are available at the venue. Please familiarise yourself with their location. Be aware of security and ensure personal items are secure at all times. Tent Site Parent s Area Due to space restrictions, parent s tents are only permitted in the parent s area marked on the site map. It is recommended that parents tents are removed each day as Netball Queensland takes no responsibility for damage or theft if left unsupervised. There is NO cooking permitted inside the parent s tents or parent s area. If, in the reasonable opinion of Netball Queensland staff, there are tents which have been erected within the Parent Area that are deemed to be a risk factor (due to prevailing weather conditions or other events), Netball Queensland staff will arrange to have these tents dismantled. Rubbish It is each teams / District Associations responsibility to REMOVE ALL RUBBISH from your tent each day and placed in the bins provided. PLEASE be self-reliant in respect to rubbish generated as it isn t Netball Queensland or Pine Rivers Netball Association volunteers responsibility to remove YOUR rubbish. The Courts Spectators must remain a minimum of 45cms (18ins) back from the sidelines at all times. Participating District Associations are responsible for ensuring their spectators display appropriate behaviour at all times. Be respectful of other players and spectators. Do not move any injured person until they have been assessed by the Medics. Spectator parking Spectator parking is available at Baker Street Park, adjacent Pine Rivers Netball Association. If parking in local streets, please take note of any parking restrictions. 17
18 SCORERS GUIDE There are to be two scorers, one from each team. One scorer is to watch and call goals scored, goals missed and centre passes to the other scorer who will mark them down. These roles are switched at half time. Scorers only sign the score sheet at the END of the game, as that indicates they agree that the score sheet is a true and correct record of the game. Scorecards are to be found at each court in plastic pockets. The game information is already filled out at the top of the card. Take one score sheet for your game only, and leave the rest in the pocket for the next game. To fill in the score sheet: 1. Each team manager will print the players name on the scoresheet prior to the game. 2. Player positions can be filled in, but this is optional for NQ carnivals. 3. Players must sign the score card the first time they play during the carnival, but do not need to do so for subsequent games. 4. Centre passes must be recorded; either at the start of the game or when they are taken. 5. Separate records are kept for both GS and GA goal attempts. Mark I for a successful goal, O for a missed attempt. 6. Successful goals are marked off in the Progressive Score section. 7. Use the square bracket ( ] ) to indicate the end of each half of the game, for both the Centre Passes and Progressive Scores. 8. At the end of the game, write the final score and the winning team in the section provided. Always write the winning score first, and the losing score second. E.g. 24/ The winning team s scorer will return the score sheet to admin after the game. 10. The team captains are not required to sign the score sheet for the NQ carnivals. 11. As all umpires sign on prior to the games at the umpire s desk, they are not required to be listed or sign the score cards at NQ carnivals. 18 Full draws, results and ladders are available on the MyNetball app.
