2 ABOUT MURMANSK INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS WEEK The Murmansk International Business Week (MIBW) is an annual forum that is a key business event in the life of the Murmansk region. It is one of the largest dialogue sites of the Barents / Euro-Arctic region, which includes about 20 separate sites concerning the most acute issues of international and interregional cooperation in the Arctic. It is an arena for meetings of Russian and foreign politicians, authorities, representatives of business societies, international, scientific and public organizations. Since the very first Murmansk International Business Week the main objective remains unchanged to attract attention of the Russian and foreign participants to the Murmansk region as one of the leading regions of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, a center for the development of international cooperation in the Arctic and an attractive investment region. Murmansk International Business Week is a traditional venue for signing agreements on international and interregional cooperation, business cooperation between Russian and foreign enterprises and for discussion of existing and future projects in various spheres of the socio-economic development of the Murmansk region. Specialized activities cover a wide range of issues from the implementation of major investment and infrastructure projects, the development of shipping, transport logistics, mining, chemical, oil and gas industries, to cooperation in the fields of science and education, culture, youth policy, entrepreneurship and ecology. Thus, due to an integrated approach to the formation of the MIBW structure, it provides the coordination of the vectors of further cooperation between Russian and foreign partners, highlights promising points of growth and consolidates the mutual understanding achieved by signed agreements and action plans. The main event of the business programme is the plenary session Heading to Arctic. The high level of speakers and the issues raised by them make it possible to clearly identify key aspects of the implementation of state policy on the development of the Arctic, taking into account the contribution of the largest enterprises and organizations of the region. The plenary session of the VII Murmansk International Business Week is concentrated on such significant topics as increasing investment attractiveness, industrial, transport and innovative development of the Arctic territories.
