2 A Festival of Lights When the Prinzipalmarkt glitters in gold, the gabled houses and churches are beautifully lit, the shops are festively decorated, Christmas trees adorn the streets and the aroma of pines and mulled wine fills the air, the best time of the year begins in Münster: the Advent Five Christmas markets transform the Old Town into a winter fairy tale; their 300 stalls invite visitors to stroll around, do some shopping and enjoy the atmosphere. Surrounded by magnificent gabled houses, the Christmas decorations and Münster s largest Christmas tree are competing to outshine one another.

UNTIL 22 DECEMBER 5 Giebelhüüskesmarkt Münster s newest Christmas market opens its doors against the medieval background of the Überwasserkirche and with a great view on the illuminated towers of the St.-Paulus-Dom. A wide variety of craft items and special delicacies can be found on this market.

However much you have to spend, whether you re looking for chic classics or highly fashionable accessories, culinary delights or rare antiques, Münster is full of small treasures which are hard to find anywhere else.
