2 Maharajas & Their Vehicles The first half of the 20th century is marked as the Golden Age of Motoring in India. Rolls-Royce cars became instant likings of Indian Maharajas and were quickly added to their fleet of royal carriers. Gradually, the obsession of personalizing the luxury vehicles witnessed hundreds of such cars running on and off Indian terrain. There was a time, when The Maharaja of Mysore regularly ordered Rolls- Royce cars in multiples of 7. Moreover, 585 Indian princely states were importing custom-made cars on various occasions, such as coronation and wedding. Popular car makers of the time made extravagant customizations by turning the vehicles to look like chariot and swan. Their cars were even given special names - Dawn of India, Silver Chariot, and Star of India. Time flew by, but it left behind an eternal saga of Maharajas and their luxury cars. In the present times, our erstwhile Royal families and a few distinguished vintage and classic car collectors have preserved the golden history of Indian heritage, making the country a potentially viable place to become the ultimate motoring tourism destination of the world. In the 6th edition of 21Gun Salute International Vintage Car Rally & Concours Show, we are bringing before you the opulence in abundance of the century old imperial heritage of the country across the globe. This time, we are proud to have with us many dignified Indian Royal families in the show.

5 Our Journey... For the past five years, 21 Gun Salute has been successfully conducting the International Vintage Car Rally & Concours Show. Year after year, the event is getting bigger and better; and the year 2016 is going to be the grandest so far. This year, we have decided to portray the true picture of the vast cultural diversity of the country in the wake of promoting motoring tourism in India and we found no better place than Red Fort, which has been representing India s pride, glory, and cultural elegance since This will be a perfect ambience to witness the blending of India s Motoring heritage with its enormous cultural heritage. Unlike any other vintage car show organized in the USA, France, Germany, or Italy, this one will be a different experience altogether! Along with the display of 75 exclusive hand-picked Indian vintage cars and 15 international cars, spectators will also get the glimpse of the art and dance forms of all parts of the country. On the basis of our rich experience, we tried to make our last event, International by including a few collectors from Singapore and Malaysia. I extend my sincere gratitude to our national and international media houses for promoting us and providing us spread and reaches. This year, in true sense, the event has gone International. We have collectors joining us from the USA, UK, France, Germany, China, Sri Lanka, and Nepal. Followed by the exclusive display of cars and the grand cultural fiesta, all the collectors and car enthusiasts will drive their beauties on the roads of the capital heading towards the Buddh International Circuit, Noida. We are planning a controlled speed racing (TSD) on the Formula One racing track at Greater NOIDA. This will bring a superb driving pleasure both for the spectators and the man on the steering. In the coming years, the event will be grander and we will include more and more collectors and car enthusiasts from all over the world. The event will attract greater number of foreign tourists and they will get a chance to visit the oldest civilization of the world. It has been my wish to see India as the prominent name in the tourism map of the world and I aspire to witness it becoming true with 21 Gun Salute International Vintage Car Rally & Concours Show. The rich Indian heritage is a fabric interlaced with the threads of the Greek, Mughal, English, French & Persian ethos that further nourished & nurtured the core essence of Indian art, the diversity in food, clothing, language, religious beliefs, art & architecture, offered by the 29 states and 7 union territories of India. Enthusiasts from all over the world will participate, witness and simply enjoy a series of events, music & dance forms here, without which the world tourism map seems incomplete. I was absolutely thrilled to see and admire all the wonderful vintage and classic cars at the show.
