The tour begins in New Delhi, (point of entry for most visitors to India) India s capital and 4th most populous city on the planet. The city is chaotic, calm and complicated and a place where one can catch a glimpse of cows wondering the streets. The Red Fort is a palace located in the center of Delhi which houses a number of museums today. It was built with red sandstone as a residence of Mughal Emperor. The Red Fort, is a symbol of India and a UNESCO world heritage site. One cannot miss Qutab Minar, the victory tower which survived the ravages of time and Hymayun' Tomb, (2nd Mughal Emperor of India) both UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Taj Mahal, the monument to love was built by Shah Jahan as a mausoleum for his 2nd wife, Muntaz Mahal, who died during the childbirth of their 14th child. The monument to love was built from pure marble and adorned with precious stones. It took 22 years, 20,000 workers to build, and today, it is considered the 8th wonder of the world. 3 The 2nd UNESCO site in Agra is the Agra Fort which is just short distance away and offers views of Taj Mahal. The Fort can be accurately described as a walled city, and today s structure was built by Moghuls. It was here that Shah Jahan was deposed and restrained by his son and it is rumored that Shah Jahan died in Muasamman Burj, a tower with a marble balcony with a view of the Taj Mahal. To see the Taj at sunrise is special and to see it at full moon is unforgettable. Golden Temple Amritsar is a home of the world famous Golden Temple and the seat of the Sikh religion, located in the state of Punjab. The Golden Temple (Sri Harimandir Sahib Amritsar) is not only a central religious place of the Sikhs, but also a symbol of human brotherhood and equality. Everybody, irrespective of cast, creed or race can seek spiritual solace and religious fulfilment without any hindrance. It also represents the distinct identity, glory and heritage of the Sikhs. This is the only crossing point between Pakistan and India that is regularly open and is known for the elaborate wagah border ceremony that happens at the border gate, two hours before sunset each day and a must for all visitors. ceremo ony Wagah Border cerem Jaipur, also known as the Pink city is the capital and the largest city in the state of Rajastan. Its two Unesco sites are the Observatory (Jantar Mantar) and Amber Fort, just outside Jaipur. Amber Fort (also known as Palace) was built of white and red sandstone by Rajah Min Singh I, high up on the hill overlooking the Maota Lake. 5 Udaipur is the capital of the former princely state of Mewar. It is a beautiful city referred to as the "Venice of the East", the "Most Romantic City of India" the "Kashmir of Rajasthan" City of Lakes and the City of Dawn. Udaipur is built around the lakes and is an inspiration for the imagination of the poets, painters and writers. It is among the most romantic and most beautiful of Indian cities with fairy tale places (some turned hotels) reflecting in the Lake Pichola. This is one of those places where one visit is just not enough. Hyderabad dates back to It is the 6 th largest city in India. Historically, it is known as a pearl and diamond trading center and continues to be known as the city of pearls. The city is rich with history and tradition many visitors never make it past the attractions in Old City. Falaknuma Palace is one of the finest palaces in Hyderabad, known as the mirror of the sky because at 2000 feet, it was built in the clouds and reflects the ever-changing moods of the sky. It set on 32 acres and originally built as a residence for nobleman. In 1995, Taj Group of hotels sensitively restored the palace to accommodate 60 glamorous rooms with extravagance of then and comforts of now.
