1 Issue 2 A Message From Your Board Greetings Forest Road Condominium Association Owners: As your Board of Directors President and Owner Representative, I continue to be your voice and I am committed to serving you, the owners of the beautiful Pinon Pointe Resort. Thank you for your continued support and confidence in me as your owner representative. During your stay at Pinon Pointe, you should attend the weekly owners meeting on Wednesday morning to meet Mike McMahon, Resort Manager, and find out what s new. The Pinon Pointe Resort sales staff is available to assist you to maximize the use of your points while concierge staff is available to assist you with restaurant, sightseeing and other activities during your visit. I commented in my last president s letter that your Hyatt Residence Group ownership affords you many opportunities to utilize the investment you have made. As I speak with other owners, many of them are not utilizing the points to the maximum. While you can return to the beautiful Pinon Pointe Resort every year, or every other year depending on which unit you own, you can also exchange your Pinon Pointe week for one of the 15 other beautiful Hyatt Residence Club properties for 2-, 3-, 4- or 7-night stays in studio, 1-, 2-, 3- or 4-bedroom units depending on the property that you choose. I encourage you to explore the Hyatt Residence Club website or call GO-HYATT. You can also exchange your Pinon Pointe week for Hyatt Gold Passport Points (which do not expire) and stay at one the many Hyatt Hotels and Resorts around the world. Effective as of June 20, 2013, you can now use Hyatt Gold Passport Points to stay at numerous MGM Hotels in Las Vegas. Another option is to bank your Pinon Pointe week with Interval International and expand your choice of travel destinations. You can donate your Pinon Pointe week to your favorite charity, give your week to family members or friends with a gift certificate, or rent your Pinon Pointe week through a program with the Hyatt Residence Club. 2 A Message From Your Resort Manager Employee Spotlight Monique Trujillo Dear Valued Owners, In 2013 your management team has been busy completing projects that we hope you will appreciate during your next visit with us. Those projects include: The server network and PBX and voic system. Replaced the Internet service with a new fiber network. Replaced all the pots, pans, china and glassware in buildings eight through fourteen. We are scheduled to replace the window covering in all our Phase I guest units with anticipated completion by the end of October. Our cable provider has changed the resort over to digital channels and we are currently working with them on the channel lineup. In addition, Hyatt Residence Group approved the painting of the exteriors of phase I buildings, the balcony wood trellises are being restrained along with the exterior entrance doors. The cost of this project was paid for by Hyatt Residence Group. This will allow the HOA to reschedule these reserve projects at a later date, keeping the funds in the reserve account. We have added a new member to our management team. During your next stay, please stop by the Activity Center and meet Monique Trujillo, our new Recreation Supervisor. Monique Trujillo joined us as the Recreation Supervisor in June. Monique was born in Albuquerque, grew up in Dallas, lived in Brooklyn, NY and has been a Sedona resident since She has been certified in Red Cross every year since the age of 15. She is an instructor for the Red Cross in Aquatics and Land Safety and Emergency Training. Monique is also an artist and her creative ideas and organizational skills have enhanced the services in the Activity Center. She is passionate and excited about her job. Her first big project was planning our annual 4th of July festivities at the Activity Center. It proved to be a great success. Her creative side was evident in the fun new activities planned for the families staying with us that week. There was a watermelon eating contest, water balloon competition, and colorful pinatas. Inside the center a variety of crafts were set up for kids and their parents. Snacks and beverages were served and the free cotton candy machine was set up all day. Needless to say, the cotton candy was a big hit! We look forward to seeing the many new activities and amenities that Monique envisions for our owners and guests.

3 Celebrating Our People Each year every Hyatt property is paired with a sister property from around the world. This year, the Hyatt Piñon Pointe was partnered with the Hyatt Regency Mumbai located in Mumbai, India. The week kicked off with a taste of Mumbai. Indian appetizers were served in our back office to the sounds of a sitar concert that was recorded live in Mumbai. Our associates were able to sample samosas deep fried pastries stuffed with potatoes, peas, and spices, which are a staple of Indian cuisine. Complimentary chauffeur services were provided to and from their departments in our specially decorated golf cart. Throughout the week, all employees were invited to relax in the Ganesh Lounge set up in the back office. Seat cushions were set around a table, mood lighting replaced the normal office light, and music from India played in the background. Even our Resort Manager, Mike McMahon, discovered an appreciation for traditional sitar music! Hyatt Piñon Pointe Enjoyed Celebrate Our People Week 2013 The 2013 Celebrating Our People initiative was held this year during the week of June 17th with over 80,000 Hyatt associates participating in the event. All Hyatt Hotels, Resorts, and Residence Group properties came together globally, devoting the week to recognizing and acknowledging our associates as being the most important asset to our company. It was an opportunity to take time out of our everyday operations to Celebrate Our People! The week was rounded out with our traditional Employee Breakfast and Luncheons. Morning meal goodies were cooked and provided by the management team for our associates. Our Indian food luncheon was catered by a local restaurant. Both meals were big hits with the team! Finally, to end the Celebration, all associates were invited to have their cars washed by their managers. Employees had it made in the shade that day! 4 Rain on the Red Rocks Monsoon Season Arrives in Sedona Sales and Marketing Update People who have never visited Arizona imagine hot dry sands and cactus. Upon arriving to Sedona they are surprised by the beautiful landscape of forests and stunning red rock formations. Sedona is located in Arizona's high desert under the southwestern rim of the vast Colorado Plateau. There is a great variety of plant life; desert shrubs and wildflowers share space beneath the junipers and piñon pines. The Sedona area receives an average of 17 inches of rain each year. The majority of that precipitation falls in the summer months of July and August, which is the monsoon season. The days usually start with clear blue skies and hot temperatures. By late afternoon huge rain clouds begin to move in. Thunder rumbles and lightning streaks across the sky. When the clouds finally burst, sheets of water quickly reduce visibility to a few yards and flash floods can occur. These powerful storms typically last less than a half hour. Afterwards, you can see small waterfalls cascading down the red rocks. If the timing is right, you can spot beautiful rainbows arching across the valley. Sedona residents love the monsoon season. Summer temperatures are close to 100. After a monsoon, it drops to a comfortable 80 or so. The welcome moisture clears the dusty air. Desert wildflowers bloom again. Prickly pear cactus fruit begins to ripen. Our trees and gardens receive needed irrigation. The next time you plan a visit to Sedona, don t be deterred by the talk of heat in the summer. 5 Featured Recipe: A Taste of the Southwest Mexican Flan Total Time: 55 min Prep 10 min Cook 45 min Yield: 6 servings Level: Easy Ingredients 2 cups sugar 4 eggs 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 cups milk 6 ramekins/custard cups Directions Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Melt 1 cup of the sugar in saucepan over low heat and cook until golden brown, about 20 minutes. Watch the sugar carefully as it can burn quickly (adding 2 tablespoons of water to the sugar will also help it not burn). Put the caramel into custard cups to cover the bottom. In a mixing bowl add the remaining 1 cup sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Boil the milk, then slowly add to sugar & egg mixture, whisking well. Strain through a fine strainer. Ladle the mixture into the caramel coated custard cups, filling 3/4 full. Put the filled cups into a water bath and cover. Cook for about 50 minutes. Check after 30 minutes. Cool to room temperature. To serve, run a knife around the edges to loosen and invert onto plates. Owner Spotlight Marie DeMott Marie DeMott has been an owner at Hyatt Pinon Pointe since On her annual summer visit, she often stays for 5 weeks. Here are some of her thoughts that she d like to share about Pinon Pointe: Sedona is my retreat place. It is where I go to get back in touch with myself and to return to a happy state of mind. In many ways, the Hyatt has become my home away from home. From the moment I arrive, I am welcomed in. The check-in process is pleasant, efficient and friendly; the Front Desk and Concierge staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. The bell-staff go the extra mile for me. Not only do they promptly assist me with unpacking my car and ensuring that all my items are delivered to my unit in perfect shape, they also make sure that my computer is set up for the network. The units themselves are wonderful. I find them to be fully equipped and always very clean and well maintained. If I ever do find that I am in need of extra items or services, all my requests are promptly and fully completed. The Hyatt is also a place I love to share with my daughter and granddaughter. The Activities Center staff has wonderful craft projects planned that my granddaughter always enjoys. Not to mention the pool, which simply has the best views ever! Dues Pre-payment We often receive questions about why we collect payment of next year s maintenance fee bill when an owner is trying to book a vacation this year. Here is a quick explanation of this rule and why it s so important to your Homeowner s Association. Club Corner One day after your current-year deeded week s check-in day, we deposit next year s Club Points into your account and immediately unlock a number of vacation options. During what we call Home Resort Preference Period (HRPP), you may choose to use any or all of your next year s Club Points for the following options over the 6 months preceding your deeded week: Reserve any portion of your deeded week; and/or Explore the Hyatt Residence Club collection; or Book a week-long stay with Interval International; or Preserve your Club Points for use within Interval International for up to 24 months after your deeded week.* Exchange your entire week for Hyatt Gold Passport points*.
